T O P I C R E V I E WChildofVenusIs this a Saturn in the 4th house thing? Every time I mention something to them in regards to my career. They say it's not a good idea or they don't like it. mirage29Are you still their responsibility, their 'dependent' (living under their roof)? Then, they still have 'authority' over you.AND, it's proof they still Care about you, and want "the best" for you-- (otherwise, they would have asked you to leave by now).Trust their feedback-- they must know something about you? They would have the ability to sense and know whether you'd have the heart or capacity to do '~whatever' kind of job and stick with it.Get them to help you job-hunt. Ask around of their 'friends' and outer circles if someone can help you out and train you to work in their business/company/office/store. Getting up on your own two feet-- will be a nice start. From there, spend some time working.... then, set your goals towards what you "really" would like to do later.Push away from them.... Set yourself up as an independent. If, on the other hand, you are living by the power of your OWN finances, earning your own way, by yourself? -- You can always Be A REBEL!!!! If they are "offering" you money for schooling/training??, then rebel very graciously and nicely! ChildofVenus@mirage29 Just because I still live at home doesn't mean they have the authority to control everything I do. That was all fine when I was a minor. I think I'm of age now to be able to make choices and decisions for myself. Shouldn't I be more concerned about doing things that make me happy? I do appreciate having their input. And I know they care about me. But I think I should be able to do some of the things I enjoy doing. They get upset because I like to travel. I should be able to travel if that's something I enjoy doing. I don't see a problem with that at all. Every time I mention a career I'm interested in they find something negative about it. I told them I wanted to go to nursing school they didn't think that was a good idea. It's really my dad that tries to be so controlling. I finally figured out why. His Saturn squares my Mars. So of course it makes sense that he tries to control my actions.mirage29Oh... Didn't realize you were still at home.Noticed you've been working-- Customer Svc.Wha???? Now, What would they have 'against' you studying in nursing school??? {{ }}*shakes head*Surely, it would be 'handy' having a daughter who could save them some doctor visits? I would have appreciated that!*I'm sorry*Saturn square Mars... ~oy.Traveling is a great way to gain experiences, make contacts, 'feel the landscape' of places and communities, and potentially build networks with people who have same interests as you, or, are unique.I had a roommate once, who worked as a stewardess for a nice international airline for over 25 years.Ever think about working as a steward / flight attendant ?Or! A travel agent?? It is a 'requirement' for them to take trips, enjoy vacation spots, for purpose of advising and fitting their clientele to the correct spots. Don't let heavy weights (Saturn) keep you grounded. Let your Imagination take you places, find talents you couldn't imagine staying under their thumb. I love this quote "Opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one."When it comes to career, I for one make absolutely no compromises regardless of the situation, coz you know you're going to have to spend a certain portion of your life most of the days on it until a certain age, is it worth it? does it make you feel alive or would it be a waste of your life and you'll be living like a zombie on each of those days for 7-8 hours ? that's the important question.Parents are always going to give their opinions about your life, and they might be even right from their own POVs but it's your life at the end of the day, your choices.RandallRebel doesn't pay very well.SimplyLunaI am a novice... I would check your 6H and it's chart ruler. What aspect does it make with your dad's chart and your own. Traditionally Saturn is the father figure, I would rather say guardian, and I would think since it is in 4th house, as long you're under your parents roof, they may have some form of wanting to limit your decisions or perhaps placed higher expectation from you. I could be wrong!-edit-I didnt mean to default my post as a smiley. lolAries23DegreesParents often want what "works". So many dont know how much the world has changed since they were young. So they stick to conservative advice of what was told to them when they were young.Stability and financial independence is what they want for you. Because they also benefit from that- having to one day depend on you.If you believe or can make what you want to be financially viable, they will have no leg to stand on. And may even be supportive of something they were once "against".Its like your child leaving school and saying they want to be like Richard Branson and "do their own thing". U will get very nervous and tell them that it will not work. And that they must finish school first etc. In this way you are also butting in. Not because you want to be mean, but are being protective. Because you are aware that those kinds of success stories are few and far between. But if the child has shown promise of business skills when young and is ambitious, you will give them more leeway. So if you say to them that you will give them one year. And if it doesn't work out. You will have them go to school and then varsity. Then that is not unreasonable.Parents want a solid guarantee. Yes life has no guarantees that is true. But it is not entirely unpredictable. As we have come to know what works and what does not. So that is the blueprint that they work on.You can switch it up by doing what you want. But you have to commit yourself to it to a point where they have little choice but to support you- as they can see how serious you are about it.If they are still unsupportive. Then they are trying to control you and live vicariously through you. As no parent wants their child to be unhappy or feel imprisoned by them. No way on earth.arcturus90check the asteroid persephone in your chart. ChildofVenusI have Moon Parallel Uranus and Moon Parallel Saturn in my chart. I know Moon/Uranus can make a person rebellious. I guess that means I'm conflicted? But I like having my freedom. I know my parents love and care about me. And they want what's best for me. But is it wrong that I want to do things that I enjoy? And that I don't like being controlled. They tell me I should be thankful to have parents like them. Because a lot of people don't have parents that care for them. I understand what they mean but really they don't understand that I enjoy having freedom.
