T O P I C R E V I E WNorthernStar85I'm very confused on Yods. Until recently, I had never heard of them. So, obviously, I'm a beginner. I plugged in my natal chart, and the website said I had these as Yods:Yod 1:Pluto in 3° Scorpio (3rd house)Chiron in 5° Gemini (10th house)Venus in 6° Aries (8th house)Mercury in 7° Aries (8th house)Yod 2:Chiron in 5° Gemini (10th house)Pluto in 3° Scorpio (3rd house)Neptune in 3° Capricorn (5th house)My question is, what are yods? And how I can I then interpret the significance of these in my chart?Ami AnneWelcome, my Friend I have several articles on them. It takes quite a while to study and explain them, so I could not really do that here. As a beginner, it may be something that would be better looked at when you know more of the basics.------------------ Want to Read Simple, Fun,Sexy Articles on Astrology? Check Me Out, DUDE. http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/Kannon McAfeeI wouldn't count asteroids for yods. So it would appear your chart does not have one. If an asteroid were closely conjunct a planet that does in fact help create a yod, then you would want to include it in interpretation, but that is all.A yod is an aspect configuration in which two planets in sextile are both quincunx/150° a third planet (give or take about 3°). This means the two planets in sextile create an energy exchange that finds fuller outlet in the 3rd planet, or 'stem' planet. There is too much made of the 'finger of God' notion of this configuration, which generally involves a more focused dynamic than a one-sided quincunx normally gives, which often remains more subconscious in its dynamic until health issues or external circumstances force conscious awareness of the energies involved. The yod configuration urges one to a more purposeful effort relating to the 3rd 'stem' planet.------------------The Declinations Guy> Expert birth chart rectification> Rising Sign Descriptions♈ ♉ ♊ ♋ ♌ ♍ ♎ ♏ ♐ ♑ ♒ ♓RandallThanks, Kannon.RandallWelcome!RandallEnjoy your stay.Randall quote:Originally posted by Kannon McAfee:I wouldn't count asteroids for yods. Notice asteroid Hygeia is the Yod energy target with the Moon and Saturn/Mercury midpoint contributing to the Yod. In this case, if one ignored this Yod, a piece of the astrology puzzle would have been missed for Cayce."Nearly 70 percent of the more than 14,000 psychic readings Edgar Cayce gave are concerned with the diagnosing of disease and the outlining of treatment. Many people who came to Cayce in the early part of the 20th century came to him as a last resort: most had been diagnosed as "incurable." http://www.edgarcayce.org/the-readings/health-and-wellness/holistic- health-database/cayce-health-remedies/ "Asteroid Hygeia KeywordsHealth, hygiene, tradition and natural medicine, doctors and healers, disease, illness, toxins, fear of poison, fear of doctors, fear of medical results, hypochondria, hesitation to get checkups, operations, misdiagnosis, drug abuse, diet, worrying about the health of family and friends." http://astrologyking.com/asteroid-hygeia/ SecretGeek quote:Originally posted by NorthernStar85:I'm very confused on Yods. I have this configuration in my birth chart -- Moon biquintile Mars biquintile Jupiter quintile Moon -- but I've never thought of it in terms of yod or was aware of this term golden yod. I looked at it in the more ordinary sense of planets joined in a triangle defined by one quintile and two bq. Unfortunately the term grand quintile has already become used to refer to a rarer pentagram configuration of interlocking quintiles. I don't think the term "Finger of God" lends anything to interpretation. It should not lead anyone to be more impressed with me or my birth chart than if such a configuration were not there. Is "God" using this configuration to point to a single planet/asteroid illustrating what one must do? Is this a "Godlike" characteristic of the native? Some of these terms were created by esotericists a hundred years ago. In this case, it not only introduces a Hebrew character foreign to most people, but the 19th century occultist's view of it, which to me isn't very useful. I see the yod formed by two quincuxes as stressful, but unified by the stem planet, which does become important. Loss and sacrifice may be themes in the process of developing the energies in the setup and fulfilling the purpose. I don't see what you term 'golden yod' as similar, since quintiles/bi-quintiles are not quincuxes, and are harmonious not stressful. These being joined with multiple planets relates to subtle creative talent and are marks of well developed souls with well rounded creative perspectives that can be applied in a number of areas. Just look at Cayce's chart above. It contains two sets of Q/bq configurations: Mercury-Saturn Q Pluto; Venus-Saturn Q Jupiter. Depending on how wide an orb you use for BQs, you could count Jupiter bq Pluto. ------------------Soul Stars Astrology - by the declinations guy Declinations: because the planets move north and south of the celestial equatorRandallThanks, Kannon.RandallBump!RandallBump!RandallBump!RandallBump!Hikaru29What about YODs in Composite?
