Randall | The economy is booming so much that 1,000 new truck drivers are needed immediately! In total, we are 51,000 short on truck drivers! |
BlueRoamer | Soon to be replaced by self driving trucks... |
Randall | And where are all the flying cars? |
Catalina | They're coming too😉 for rich people first of course, and businesses http://www.aeromobil.com |

There are more vacant jobs than there are official unemployed people. |
Randall | That's a good problem to have. It's called winning. Thank you, President Trump! |
Catalina | Is it? If jobs go unfilled the business lose momentum and money. |
Catalina | Unemployment has been steadily falling since 2010 and continues to do so. The main factor appears to be people regaining confidence that they will get a job.. but many of those jobs don't pay much. The unemployment rate rose to a seasonally adjusted 4.0% in June, while wage growth remained modest http://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-hiring-strong -in-june-unemployment-rate-rises-as-more-enter-labor-force-1530880292?refid=52&pos=4 |
jwhop | "while wage growth remained modest" Wages grew at about 2.7% over the year..or about $.72 per hour average. That's about $28 per week and $123 per month. On top of that, almost everyone got a tax cut...which means more of what they earned wound up in THEIR pockets. Good job President Trump! |
Randall | Please, no more winning! |
Catalina | Inflation is outstripping wage gains for a sum total LOSS to all but the richest consumers. |
Randall | A good economy has a marginal inflation rate. Inflation is currently at 1.72%. A healthy inflation rate is 2 to 3%. |
Randall | Help Wanted signs are all over! For the first time I can recall, there are radio commercials for help wanted. |
Randall | The economy is the main concern for voters. |
Catalina | Ah yes.. except when it's Immigration, right?😉 Correction Inflation currently 2.9%..(not 1.7). About equal with any wage gains and in some cases making life much less affordable http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-biz-inflation-rates-20180713-story.html And if one's wages are not among those increased.. well... averages don't mean jack |
Randall | My bad. I saw 1.7% and then 1.9%, but I defer to the government claims of 2.9%. The latest calculation will be on August 10. A tad bit high, and wage increases should be higher, but give it some time for the economic wave to wash across all sectors. This country ia going to be richer than we ever thought to dream. |
