Forgive me if someone else has started a thread on this already, but its really late I can't call anyone to rave about it.I am so excited- I would read this story over and over, thinking "this would make a GREAT movie."The problem is- every SK story adapted to film SUCKS. I was an SK fiend a loong time ago (as in I read everything up to IT by 6th grade) but Hollywood has managed to ruin most of his books. I don't think his ability to create characters translates well into film format.I must repeat....OMG OMG OMG OMG.Too bad it will probably come out when I am stuck in the hinterlands. MK runs off to dance in circles, flailing her hands in the air BTW- Right now I am in IDAHO. This state intrigues me for some reason. Most of Stephen King's books are not only very long, but introspective, which doesn't translate well into movies. But this story is not only short, but much more action oriented (even if it's just talking) than most of his stories, and the mood is much easier to adapt to a movie, so I think it will work this time. A long time ago King demanded he be a part of all productions. And the films improved. But what about...<LI> The Stand- t.v. 4 parts. <LI> Misery- Kathy Bates got an Oscar for her portrayal of a demented 'fan'<LI> The Shinning- Kubrick's direction makes this 'his' movie. Fans of King [like meself] were very disappointed. This is the movie that made King empower himself to producer. As a film it is 1st rate. As an adaptation? Kubrick's ego superseded the writer!<LI> IT- I liked this movie too. The book is 1,000+ pages. I've never read that one, but I'm a Stephen King fan and I am often disappointed by the movies they make from his books.... I liked 1408, but a lot of the time the imagery in his books are so weird that the screen doesn't do them justice at all and it comes out looking corny to me.</TD></TR><TR bgcolor="#F4D5F0"><TD valign=top>Mirandee</TD><TD>The only one of King's books that I felt was a good movie was Salem's Lot. I was very disappointed in The Shining. The book was so much better and scarier. </TD></TR></TABLE></td></tr></table>
