aquaguy91 | I recently read part of Benjamin Franklin's autobiography for one of my classes. Specifically, the part where he talked about developing his virtues. This inspired me to write a list of my personal weaknesses and an action plan to improve in those areas. I also wrote down a list of my strengths. I was surprised to see more strengths on my list than weaknesses. As a sun/saturn person, i'm extremely self critical and hard on myself. So, needless to say, that was therapeutic and boosted my self-esteem a bit. I think having these lists on pen and paper in a visible place will be a good motivator for me. What about you? Do you put your goals on paper? |
SirenSong | Have to or I forget, hehe. I absolutely Love Ben Franklin's autobiography! Especially the early years. It's Excellent! ------------------ Love, Ellynlvx |
aquaguy91 | Ben was a really interesting guy. |
Randall | I don't, but I'm strange. |
StubbornVirgo | I write them down to formulate a plan, and then I become fixated on my goals until I achieve them. I usually lose the piece of paper, but they stay stuck in my mind for a long time. I have Sun/Saturn, Mercury/Saturn, Sun/Pluto, Mercury/Pluto aspects. |
DopGang | I don't but when I have a goal it sort of becomes an obsession so it's difficult to forget. |
teasel | "Write It Down, Make It Happen" and "Put Your Thoughts On Paper." Two very good books. I used to be a part of a goal-setting site, that involved listing goals, and writing posts as you worked on them, or achieved them. I make lists all the time, as well. They help to sort things out a bit. "Bullet Journalling" is a thing right now. |
Randall | I should try it. |
teasel | Bump. |
teasel | I actually stopped writing down goals. The last time I tried, was the new year of the same year I lost my mother. I thought about it again last year, and COVID happened. This year, I felt like I was in a deep freeze, along with a deep depression. I have my reasons, that I haven’t gone into, and probably won’t. I don’t know. Right now, I just want to try starting some seeds for my garden. |
MoonMystic | ugh - my problem is technology! I try to get breaks from it and my damn notepad, even my calculator have been more accessible on my tablet - than actual writing on paper I had great penmanship once upon a time. Hope I am able to get back to "goal writing on paper". I'll make a better effort - *looking for paper+pen* .. now writing new goal on paper - " Goal #1 write my goals on actual paper ". ☺ |

I was just thinking that I stopped writing down what was in my head (unless I was writing somewhere like here), when I felt overwhelmed, and I shouldn’t have. I used to write “morning pages” as a brain dump, to clear my head. |
Belage | I used to. And I need to get back into doing it. I just have to keep it flexible. Goals may change... |

teasel | Bumping, because a friend reminded me of this site: http://dayzeroproject.com/ I need some serious motivation, and looking through goals might help me, and anyone else who might be out there. I'd totally forgotten about 101 things, and the "Now" list, as well as a manifestation list, and "someday". |
Randall | Ben Franklin was a genius. |
