T O P I C R E V I E WAquarian GirlSome of you might have read my "Pisces and lying" thread over in astrology... well... a few days ago, actually... just before I dumped said Pisces I did a reading. I used to Celtic Cross spread. The significator was "the tower"... and if I remember right, the crowning card was the page of cups, the base was the king of cups... position 6 was "death"... position 7 was the seven of swords and the seven of cups was somewhere in the mix too, but I can't remember exactly where...From the meanings of the cards and my gut instinct, what I got from that was that he's been hiding something pretty big from me and thats the problem. Everything is coming to a head and he doesn't know what to do. Possibly another woman? Or maybe he doesn't think I'm the right one, maybe he's second guessing himself and so pulling away (seven of cups). My question basically was "what is going on, why is G acting the way he is?"I shuffled angrily for a very long time and I remember have a strong sense of purpose when selecting the cards. I did it really quickly... so... I think the cards that came up were accurate... I'm just wondering if I pulled them all together correctly and if anyone can see another "spin" on the story.I've been reading the tarot for myself for quite awhile, but I've never really made a serious study of it and I usually ask really vague questions, like.. what are the influences in my life for the next 6 months.... stuff like that. I get a lot out of it, I really do... but I'm just not confident with it passed a "parlour game" and this is probably the first time I've actually tried to "divine" something so... I'm wondering if anyone has anything else to add as far as what those cards can mean or my technique or anything at all. I really feel that the cards told me he is hiding something big. I think he's in a lot turmoil over it... but still.. he is being very dishonest... he's hiding something...miss_applesSometimes its hard to read for ourselves with specific questions like this because its hard to be objective enough to look at the cards because we are so deeply involved. However always go with your gut feelings. I dont see a specific thing that says he is hiding however I see that, he (the page of cups) is causing you a lot of grief (the tower) and something needs to change (death) So yes there is definatly something going on, on his part. The 7 of swords tells me that whatever he is doing is making you feel the need that you have to constantly look behind your shoulder as if you feel like he is trying to stab you in the back. So Id say your intuition on the cards were correct. I really hope you find peace within your situation.purple_scorpHello Aquarian GirlFirstly, well done for your interpretation.I have to say that I loathe the Celtic Cross spread with a great passion. You know, you don't have to stick with a traditional spread. You could always just shuffle the pack and think of your own question(s), then pull a card for the answer(s). This might help you to hone in on the trust issue that you have indicated. The Tower is a "shake-it all up" card and death indicates the end of a situation. So maybe it is just advising that things can't continue the same way with you. If you take a proactive stand, you will weather the enforced destruction a little better. This could be as simple as confronting him to get to the bottom of the situation. It may not be as bad as you imagine.Take carepurple_scorpRandall ------------------"Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clarkmiss_applesI agree purple scorp, I dont care much for the celtic cross. I actually prefer a three card past/present/future spread with a 4th "overall summary/advice card. The celtic cross, theres just so much going on there it gets confusing for me. purple_scorphey miss_apples,Yes, less is definitely more. I remember seeing on Aeclectic Tarot in the spread category a thread suggesting about 50 variations of the Past, Present, Future spread. So it was using three cards, just varied what they were called. (So, you could simply do one for Situation, Advice, Outcome.)I like to use 5 cards as a base:1. Situation2. What I know3. What I don't know4. Advice5. Outcome if advice is followedThen I might add or subtract cards. For example I might combine 1 & 2 and then draw a card for Challenge. Or, two cards for advice. Of course, then you might need to draw two Outcomes, one for following each piece of advice. But I tend to do most spreads on the fly and frame my questions according to what it is that I wish to know.purple_scorpAquarian Girlheheh... the celtic cross is the only one i'm really familiar with, but... i have a book of all these other tarot spreads, but i've found i just don't get that much out of them usually... i will try your method purple_scorp/miss_apples, and see how i go with it. but i'm a real amatuer i also think what you guys said about the cards that came up is a real added iunsight... but i still feel like what i though initially is right... but you have said has definitely added to it... thanks! purple_scorpHello Aquarian Girl, well, we all have a lot to learn and the cards seem to teach us something different every day.The thing with the celtic cross is that it is probably the most world-famous spread because it's the one that is used as examples in most books but I don't think that makes it the easiest one to interpret.Have you been to the Aeclectic Tarot website? http://www.tarotforum.net/ It's a good place to visit for tarot enthusiasts of any level. i also think what you guys said about the cards that came up is a real added iunsight... but i still feel like what i though initially is right... but you have said has definitely added to it... thanks!
well, we all have a lot to learn and the cards seem to teach us something different every day.
The thing with the celtic cross is that it is probably the most world-famous spread because it's the one that is used as examples in most books but I don't think that makes it the easiest one to interpret.
