T O P I C R E V I E WNebelHiya Guys For as long as I can remember i have noticed that as i drift off to sleep, i usually 'feel' something on my cheek/nose/forehead. Such as a very cool breeze (Without there being a window open or a draft), a feather or stray hair (Without there being a feather or stray hair on my face), or sometimes stroking. Now i wonder sometimes if this is my imagination, or perhaps my nerves relaxing before i go to sleep...? Perhaps something a little more interesting???Any ideas? Anyone experienced something similar?LOLNebel------------------If you want to view paradise - simply look around and view it!Randall ------------------"Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Last fall after an argument with my ex he left the room to go downstairs. A single candle was lit as I laid naked on the bed, upset and alone and feeling like i wanted to just sink into the bed and disappear. i was crying heavily and having trouble calming myself... All of a sudden i had the distinct feeling i was not alone anymore, simulataneously i felt a hand gently but firmly place itself on my back....now, my eyes were closed but i just felt it was my grandmother who had passed away years ago. she had visited me once before while hiking in the mountains, but i was a little freaked to be touched by a spirit. not totally sure it was her, i became panicked and felt the hand come off my back and heard her say "it's ok" in my head. i opened my eyes, but due to nervousness looked at the far end of the room first and saw a flash of the smoky outline of my grandfather (her husband) who committed suicide years before i was born. the reason i know it was him is because he was leaning on two canes like he was in all the pics i have seen of him, not to mention he accompanied her. he was over by a hanging plant i often did yoga by. once i felt sure it was her who had touched me i quickly asked her why it hurt so much to be with my current boyfriend at the time...she told me everything would be ok and not to leave him - yet. also, an interesting connection lies in the fact that my ex tried to committ suicide before i met him and that my grandfather who i have never "known" did and he came to visit me for the first time i know of in his room. well, that is the first and last time i consciously experienced being touched like that...it was amazing. it comforts me to know my ancestors visit to inspire, teach and love. maybe, just maybe a spirit that loves you is caressing you at bedtime?? or faeries are tinkering with you?? CancerianMoon ~ since you have to rock yourself to sleep sometimes is it bothering you? i know burning sage helps me, but that could just be a placebo effect. also, sage has some big embers, so uh, be careful not to set your bed on fire like i did once! ha!spiriaenjoying your cool shades man replies, randall....oldephebeBoy you people here are beautiful!! I ah have felt malevolent or electrically charged sensations accompanied by a reflexive panic many many times as I've drifted off to sleep.Sometimes the electrical sensations are accompanied by disconcerting images that seem to exist somewhere in the realm between sleep and waking...I usually attribute it to some phantasmagoric manifestation of some psychically inner turbulence. Something I've left unresolved or unhonored or something that needs to be atoned for. Several of my former girlfriends have also so shared with me their many vivid dreamscapes and quasi-out of body experiences. There are times though that when I find myself in the throes of some almost prehensile desolation..spirit clawing to rip a hole through this bag of flesh..that I take a holy moment, make it holy through a simple repetitive type of mantra this slows my pulse and ameliorates my feelings of panic and fear. This mantra is also accompanied by a succession of images and associations borne out of I guess talismanic touchstones from the inner shrine of my Faith. It is then that I began to slowly pray with coherence and gradually increasing confidence. Finally something approaching spiritual ecstacy and ineffable gratification displaces the panic and fear.Yeah. As I drift off to sleep indeed..------------------trying not to appear spiritually barren
