T O P I C R E V I E WAsterkindHi, please advise how to interpret the below in a natal chart.Atmakaraka is combust in natal chart but is in own house in navamsa with rahuanekksadhbetter to study the entire vedic chart in totality to make sense of it, pls port birth details so can prepare the chart and interpretAnekk------------------ https://www.facebook.com/anek.sadh https://www.facebook.com/pg/AstroNumero27 RandallThanks, anekk.Jessica2407Since this is a generic question :It all depends on which planet is combust, there is a huge difference between atmakaraka Mars combust and atmakaraka Saturn combust.anekksadhcombust planets lose their rays and get engulfed in the rays of the sun, thats why combust planets add to the spiritual nature of that planet, those planetary qualities will be more abstract and become part of the personality of that person, sun is the natural atmakaraka so combust planets work more at a soul level than physical level, any planet conjunct sun leads to a lot of burning for that planet, internal burning which helps purify the spirit and realize its true nature AK showing the desires of the soul when its combust can indicate a spiritual nature for that native, the significations of the AK will enhance his spirituality after they have caused a lot of burning and internal purification which leads to a spiritual pathAnekk------------------ https://www.facebook.com/anek.sadh https://www.facebook.com/pg/AstroNumero27 Jessica2407The interpretation of a combust atmakaraka in a birth chart depends A LOT on the planet that is undergoing combustion, the house in which it is placed, the house which it is ruling, whether it is the yogakaraka for that lagna, or a functional malefic, whether it is receiving good aspects or not, whether it is in good degrees, where is it placed in the bhava, whether it has strength.. there are so many things that need to be analyzed. The atmakaraka is the planet that holds the highest degree in a birth chart. Its characteristics will define what the soul is reaching to achieve or the desires of the soul in this life time OR the 'unfinished' desires of the soul because the whole concepts of Vedic astrology is based on reincarnation, karma of past lives, and dharma that has to be fulfilled in the present one. It may not always be spiritual. The topic of combustion of planets in Vedic has garnered different opinions. Some astrologers believe that combustion of planets happens when they are within 6 degrees of the Sun. According to Surya siddhanta, planets become combust at a specified degree. Some astrologers believe that when a planet is combust it turns into a malefic while others believe that not everything is lost, that it cannot be classified as a functional malefic IF the latter rules the trikon and kendra houses,it is still capable of giving good but may be with the help of a benefic if well supported in the chart, however it can turn into a functional malefic if it rules the dustana houses. According to Ptolemy, ( western astrology) the combust planet influences the sun with its characteristics, whereas in Vedic the combust planet loses its personality to the sun.Mars, if is the atmakaraka and if he is combust will bow down to the sun, like a good soldier. I have seen horoscopes where Mars is combust but has conferred prominent rise in career in its Mahadasha. Saturn if combust, losing its strength, it may NOT be a good thing, EVEN though saturn is a natural malefic, it is the yogakaraka for I believe 5 lagnas, while Jupiter, natural benefic is the yogakaraka of none. The most essential point to note however, regardless of all conditions prevailing in a chart, a combust planet say the atmakaraka will feel helpless to ACT, the Sun is the karaka of the self, the lagna, the planet that rules the chart despite all is the lagna lord, so the sun being the karak of the self has engulfed the planet holding the highest degrees making it helpless to act INDEPENDENTLY in given situations UNLESS 'rescued'Rahu is for some incapable of being the atmakaraka since it is not a planet per se, but if Rahu is in the same house of the combust atmakaraka and within close distance to the Sun and to the atmakaraka will eclipse the Sun and strength the former, of course conditional to how strong rahu is in the chart.Okie am going to stop here AsterkindeditJessica2407 quote:Originally posted by Asterkind:Hi- thanks for the detailed explanation and my apologies for a very late response.Venus being atmakaraka is combust within 5 degrees of sun in a mutable sign.Venus is with rahu in own house in navamsa. Can u pls help with some insights on this?I can only answer in a generic sense, Rahu doesn't have a physical existence because it's not a planet, therefore when in conjunction or when in the same house it will absorb the qualities of the other planet or it can start acting like he is the house lord ( depending on where he is placed) because he just loves being in the limelight.

AK showing the desires of the soul when its combust can indicate a spiritual nature for that native, the significations of the AK will enhance his spirituality after they have caused a lot of burning and internal purification which leads to a spiritual path

I can only answer in a generic sense, Rahu doesn't have a physical existence because it's not a planet, therefore when in conjunction or when in the same house it will absorb the qualities of the other planet or it can start acting like he is the house lord ( depending on where he is placed) because he just loves being in the limelight.
