Hi, thought I'd start a topic of discussing our respective Nodes. There's much useful info. out there, but I'm really interested in personal accounts

Mine are North Node in Virgo, South Node in Pisces. From what I've read, the North Node deals with issues of relevance to your future and the South is related to that which you've learned in the past. The South Node is familar and comfortable, like an old friend while the North is what you must work on to move forward. Classic astrology states, North Node in Virgo is about being of service in the current life as one has already enjoyed being taken care of by others (S.N. Pisces)Now is the time to repay the favors gained in previous lives.
I feel the effects of my South Node upon my soul. Many a times, I wistfully dream/imagine a life of spiritual confinement such as that of a Nun or Monk. Growing up, I seriously considered entering the religious life and serving my then ideal of God. Even now I feel nostalgic upon passing a Holy or religous place of worship. I have find much truth in that saying that the things of the world are not of God/Goddess/Source. I'm deeply empathic and suffering really affects me. To gain inner balance, I find myself requiring periods of being alone.
As for the North Node, its conjunct my Saturn. Both Saturn and my Moon in Pisces are involved in two T-squares in my chart. Major Karma and energy. I have the strong desire to be of service, to assist humanity. One of my inspirations is working with UNICEF or the Red Cross. Healing intrigues me, I want to be out there. Teh difficulty of the squares and oppositions is that despite my great idealism and empathy, I'm sometimes afraid and wish to hide back in the shadows.

Thanks for this post. Have been thinking about nodes a lot lately.

My North node is in my 7th house and in the same sign (Cancer) as my Descendant. I think of the North node as my purpose in this lifetime, what I should be striving to cultivate.
The 7th house is about relationships, partnerships, marriage; Cancer is about family, motherhood, feelings; the descendant is about others or qualities of ourselves that we project onto others because we can't accept it as part of ourselves. Where the descendant lies is where we draw a line and say "This is not me."
This is a challenging placement for me because I find close relationships draining and I don't think I would enjoy being a mother or a wife. "It's just not me!" The idea feels confining. I want it even less when I see my chart telling me that's what I should want.

South node is what I need to wean myself from: 1st House, Capricorn = self-absorption and too much time spent in studying and seriousness? I enjoy the company of other people now much more than I used to. I appreciate other people more. I've made progress here but it will be a long journey yet alllllllllllll the way over to that opposite node.

Good topic. Randall had a a very good thread on nodes in Universal Codes but maybe we should all recap the nodes.

Mine is North Node Libra, the most difficult. I have no proper idea what I should do to satisfy this requirement. Some say sharing and cooperation so I try to share knowledge, time, cash when I can. But Cooperation? With a triple cardinal? This is a lousy north node...
My South Node is Aries. Total fighter and Mad Max guts. I even saw it in some past lives. I have been a cop, soldier and a special forces man in 3 lives.

Hi Lemingtyne,
Looks like you have the same problem as I do. I too have my North Node in 7th house but of all things it is Libra!!!
But there is no escaping this. We SHOULD evolve to like what this node says we should, thats the whole purpose!

Hi Iqhunk,
I have 5 planets in Libra. Libra is not a fighter, but not a weenie either! Make sure that your sharing and cooperating are working to your benefit, too, and not just to the benefit of others. Get at least as much as you give. That's Equality, Fairness, Balance.

P.S. My Sun is in the sign of your NN, your Sun is in the sign of my NN. Any advice for me about how to be more Cancerian?

Thanks for the tips on being Libran!
Coming from a Libra chart ruled girl, it has to be perfect advice

<<My Sun is in the sign of your NN, your Sun is in the sign of my NN.>>
How cool is that! We might have a past life connection! Umm, if I bombed you in WW2, it was not my fault, Hitler made me do it...LOL!

OK, how to be more Cancerian?

10 easy steps for a girl:
1. Hide some cash in several places around your home.

2. Be real worried about your financial security, think of cheap real estate investments that appreciate 300% in a decade.

3. Enjoy gourmet food with multifarious spices, salads and wines, in moderation.

4. Visit a creche or a relative with a cute, chubby 6 month baby and spoil it tenderly. Feed it black forest cake mixed with chocolate ice cream and feel very happy that baby is happy.
Cuddling it to sleep and looking at it tenderly as if you are the mother helps build the Cancerian trait very fast.

5. Laugh in a whole hearted yet silly and crazy way during the full moon. Any joke is fine.

6. When your man praises you, cry. When he is exasperated, tell him he did not praise you yesterday.

7. When he is totally confused and gloomy because of your mood swing, smother him in love with hugs and hot chicken soup, fed lovingly by you.

8. Ask your man "Do you love me" 10 times a day. Occasionally make him prove it. Demand the emotional affection and demand to be possessed and be 10 times more possessive.

9. Make sentimental photo albums of family.

10. Tenaciously cling to all that is good.

There, that ought to help you get an idea.

Cool topic!

My NN is Libra conjunct Pluto in the 3rd House, South Node in Aries conjunct MC! Very tough!

MC opp. NN.

I am more Libra than Aries, so I would say I am becoming my NN, but I do have that Arian facade, as in air, maybe it is the MC.

Lauren, I have that ALL or NOTHING attitude too, whether it is friendship or love, no idea where it is coming from as per the chart. Scorpio is my fourth house, I have a Uranus singelton there, other than that, nothing! No idea where the Plutonian energy is flowing from!

Hi Lauren,
You are a tad too wise and mature for a 19 yr old. I would trade my NNs with you any day cause I have a Mars Venus conjunct in Taurus. And when are you going to show me your picture

See, one of the biggest misconceptions is that materialism is anti-spiritual, IT IS NOT. Materialism for the sake of Ego satisfaction alone or to go one up on others, that is anti-spiritual. All you need to do to satisfy your north node without sacrificing spiritual leanings is to indulge yourself guiltlessly in whatever possessions you have without covetousness.
Example: Start enjoying the clothing material that you find luxurious. It could be cotton or velvet or silk, doesnt matter, just enjoy it. But insisting that only a branded cotton or velvet or silk is to be enjoyed, thats the no-no. Same with food. Enjoy all kinds of chocolate, steaks, breads, exotic spices etc [make sure there is a treadmill nearby too LOL]
Further on you have to learn to really enjoy sexual peasures with your loved one. Infact after you get really comfortable in your relationship, go for tantrik sex, it is made for a Taurus North Node person. Nothing non-spiritual about Tantra at all.

Ook I've my NN in Capricorn in the first house and my SN in Cancer in the seventh house.

Anyways I think I'll be able to cope up with my NN very well since I've my sun, ascendant, mercury, venus, saturn, uranus, neptune, true node in the same sign (yes yes capricorn). But am not very sure about the way I'm supposed to go. Does NN capricorn mean I should become more serious, work-oriented, achievement-oriented, reserved etc. or just by myself since I'm already a cappy

Anyways I feel comfortable with SN cancer though, I somehow get the sense I've been very cancerian-like in my past-lives!

Thanks for the tips! I'll start with #3!
Hi cappyme,
Looks like our nodes are telling us we are each headed in the direction where the other has been, in terms of both house and sign. May I ask at what degree your nodes are? Mine are at 27 1/2 degrees Cancer/Capricorn. (Desc/Asc at almost 13 degrees.)

Here is where i find what little air i have....it seems to be opposite of those who have posted so far... Does any one have it this way? I guess i need to stand-up for myself.. do more things on my own (very hard this is with a boatload of stuff in your 7th) and by all means learn my lesson and try to be charming about it.

My North Node is in Aries as well. I always screw up when I fall back on my habits of letting others lead me and not taking action, because they lead me where I don't want to go and I never achieve anything. I always succeed when I grow a pair of nuts and just DO it. With this North Node, procrastination is a death sentence, it always has been for me. I find it very hard to overcome my south node tendencies, its just so much easier to be lazy, and enjoy life lol.

Iqhunk -- what's the deal with NN in Libra?? I have it too, and it never bothered me much (ignorance is bliss, hehe, I never worried much about nodes so far -- but I guess here is something else to fret over, lol), but you and Sue G. must have had a conversation in some thread about how bad NN in Libra is, or rather SN in Aries, and you keep referring to it. Which makes me wonder now..

It means being egotistical, needing to go from "I" to "We?" I think Sue said that somewhere. Well, if that's the case, I think I am learning this right now, big time -- about time after 10 years of marriage, lol! -- so does that mean I am becoming [b]evolved?"[/b[ LOL!!

What I have is NN Libra in 2nd house, sextile Moon in 12, square Saturn in 5th. Hm. Which means my SN in Aries trines the Moon, and again, shish, squares Saturn. What a bore!! -- The NN is also exactly 30 degrees from Pluto, if that means anything...

BTW, how do you pronounce your name, and what does it mean? Is it an Indian name, or something you made up? I see the word "hunk" in there, is it a coincidence or a rather obvious hint??

Anyone knows a thread or website on nodes??

I have a North Node in Aries and South Node in Libra. I was blown away reading the descriptions which I feel suit me to a tee. I got this amazing book on Nodes where it talked about constructive self-interest and how I needed alot of time to myself. Truer words were never spoken!

The book is called "Astrology for The Soul" by Jan Spiller. changed my life profoundly.

My NN is in my 9th house and is conjunct my Saturn.

Peace!

My north node is in the 10th house at 19 Leo, conjunct Venus at 20 Leo; south node in Aquarius in the 4th. I really haven't paid the nodes too much mind, although I have assumed that the conjunction to Venus emphasised that planet's dominance over my life. I have a career in the arts and am engaged to someone in the same profession, although we work independently of each other. The south node supposedly indicates some kind of past life karma to be worked out (if those are your beliefs). There can be a feeling of fatedness attendant between individuals who have interchart contacts involving the nodes. One of the things that first struck me when I looked at my fiance's chart was that his moon is conjunct my south node in the same degree. Ordinarily I might overlook or even dismiss the aspect, but also our rising signs are identical by sign and degree, his Saturn directly conjuncts my vertex, and we have both the Venus/Mars conjunction and opposition - a pretty heavily "fated" union all around; at least, that is what it seems.

I'm sorry I can't offer more insights on the nodes. For me, I think the north node has compelled me to assume much more of a public role than I'd have chosen for my reclusive 12th house sun self. Having the south node in the 4th definitely confirms me as a homebody.

Hi Loggerhead,
My ID is a silly ego trip thing made some time ago that I use for convenience as I remember the userid and password easily.
IQ: Intelligence Quotient, I am proud of it because it is 140+ even though I know it is useless as EQ is more important.
Hunk: I have a 47 inch Chest and 17 inch arms post workout with a six pack abdomen. That qualifies me to be a Hunk, I thought.

My real name is Tameem.

Regarding North Node in Libra, I asked an Australian Astrology expert named Karen in expansions.com and she said this is the most difficult placement, to overcome Egotism and selfishness.
Sue, Scorpbaby, Lemingtyne, Neptune_Muse and myself. 5 knowflakes in a spot of bother

How should you succeed to become our Aries South Node? If you are a guy, all you have to do to get an idea is see Rocky 3, (the Eye of The Tiger soundtrack) to see how Sly beats Mr T. Its all about an Aries who becomes Libran or Taurus due to wealth/fame, loses badly and has to become an Aries all over again. The "Eye of The Tiger", hunger to symbolically bash everyone and be number one for the pure sake of being number one. Honor, Blaze of Glory etc. Very Difficult! Especially if you are in a secure and safe middle management position, this placement could necessiate an entrepreneurial move or some "Number 1" chasing ambitious thing.

also, i do have north node in libra / south node in aries...............very difficult transition but, it's going.

here is some information i found at http://north-node.com/astrology-tutorials/nodes

What are they?
The Sun and planets do not circle willy-nilly around the Earth. Instead, their apparent path around us inscribes a circle in the skies. This disk-shaped band of the sky is called the ecliptic.

Astrology is geocentric, meaning that even though we realize the Sun does not orbit the Earth, the Earth is at the center of the astrological chart. Thus, Earth is our frame of reference.

The Moon’s orbit around the Earth is not the same as the ecliptic. You could visualize them as two giant hula hoops, one inside the other, held at an angle. The Moon’s orbit crosses the Ecliptic in two places—these are called the Moon’s Nodes.

The North Node is where the Moon crosses the ecliptic going toward the northern hemisphere, and the South Node is where she crosses the ecliptic towards the south.

The Moon’s Nodes nearly always move in retrograde, meaning they travel backwards through the Zodiac. They make a complete circle through the 12 signs every 18 years. The North Node and the South Node are always directly opposite one another in the sky.

When the New Moons and Full Moons happen near the Moon’s Nodes, we get eclipses. That is because the Earth, Sun, and Moon are lined up so precisely that a shadow is cast.

What do they mean?
In a karmic sense, the Moon’s Nodes represent lessons to be learned in this Earthly incarnation. These lessons almost always have to do with the way we connect with others. That’s why the Nodes are associated with patterns of relating, and the wisdom to be found within them is often the key to recognizing and healing patterns of relating which stand in the way of our happiness.

The Nodes are a pair. The North Node is always directly opposite the South Node. If you want to really understand them, it’s wise to study the 12 signs as pairs of opposites— Aries/Libra, Taurus/Scorpio, and so on. Like the yin/yang symbol, each sign contains the shadow of its opposite. For example, every Aries has a secret wish to be loved and accepted, and every Libra has a “gotta be me” side (or an angry side) that comes out no matter how nice she tries to be.

The South Node represents habit patterns from childhood or from past lives. These are comfortable patterns, but they often get in the way of you having the kinds of connections you want with other people. These are especially powerful if you have a planet conjunct the South Node in your chart.

The sign and house placement of the South Node tells where you have a tendency to totally overdo things. There is a longing there, a craving that is very strong. The nature of this longing is shown by the sign of the South Node. For example, in Taurus, the craving is for material security. In Leo, for recognition. In Gemini, for information.

The sign and house of the North Node represent circumstances and activities that usually feel unfamiliar. It’s the “secret shadow” of the South Node sign, and it’s the key to getting that craving met. That’s why the North node reveals an area of massive growth potential in your life. It’s the key to getting energy flowing.

Sometimes in the astrological literature, you will see interpretations that color the North Node as all positive, and the South Node as all negative. Sometimes they suggest that you should strive to move “toward” the North Node and shun the qualities represented by the sign of the South Node. As if that were possible. This is not necessarily a constructive idea. Your South Node indicates an area of massive talent. The idea is to strike a balance between both sides. Read on, and you should start to get it.

North Node in Aries, South Node in Libra:
North Node in Aries represents a karmic drive to embrace your identity, to make your own decisions and live your own life. The South Node in Libra represents a longing for relationship. The longing is so strong and intense, that you often will try to make the connection by doing the Libra thing, trying to be the person you think your partner wants. This never works. You will find fulfilling relationships only when you embrace your own desires and wants (Aries), take the risk of being your own person, following your impulses. Only then can the right relationship appear.

North Node in Taurus, South Node in Scorpio:
North Node in Taurus represents a need to get In touch with your own self-worth—your values & awareness of comfort zones, what feels good, what doesn’t, relying on your own talents & resourcefulness (Taurus). The South Node in Scorpio represents a longing for close bonding and mutual empowerment with another person. The old pattern is to attempt to do this by buying into another person’s system of values and priorities (Scorpio). Your longing for a fulfilling intimate relationship will only be satisfied when you focus on your own strength, your own values, your own priorities. When you do so, the right people will appear to support your goals.

North Node in Gemini, South Node in Sagittarius
If your North Node is in Gemini, you are like a butterfly, here to sample many flowers and connect with people and things. The South Node in Sagittarius represents a longing to have all the answers, sharing truth and wisdom, “being right.” If you don’t do the Gemini part and listen to what others are saying, your Sagittarian optimism can get out of hand, and you assume they know what you know. It’s true that you have great wisdom, but you mess up when you act without thinking things through, and dismiss other people’s ideas without hearing them out. You are able to share your wisdom and connect deeply with others when you truly listen to them, helping them through the “nitty gritty” aspects of life, and allowing them to help you.

North Node in Cancer, South Node in Capricorn
The South Node in Capricorn represents a strong drive to succeed. You mess up when you measure success by the “outward” symbols of success or achievement of a position in society (i.e. clothing, material status, titles, awards, the “right” friends, etc.). To gain these things, you may try to “cut off” or ignore the feeling side of things, yours and others’. Your North Node in Cancer shows that the true measure of your success is emotional fulfillment—if you aren’t feeling safe and content on the inside, you haven’t “made it.” This does not deny you success in your career, but it does mean that you find satisfaction in life only when you use your strong work ethic and management skill in a way that is emotionally suited to you, and responsive to others.

North Node in Leo, South Node in Aquarius
The South Node in Aquarius represents a strong urge for belonging in a group. Your old pattern is to make your way by “fitting in,” letting go of your identity to promote a cause, and letting the energy of a group carry you. You try and find this sense of belonging by remaining a spectator in life rather than a participant. This doesn’t work, because Leo is an extremely creative sign, and to try to “blend in” cuts off a very real part of you. You find your true sense of belonging when you let your light shine, take the risk of standing out. Then you seem to magnetically attract the right group of friends to you.

North Node in Virgo, South Node in Pisces
The South Node in Pisces represents an urge for immersion in spiritual oneness. You may try to do this by escaping from the world through addiction or other means, withdrawal from involvement with others, giving up, or choosing not to deal with the daily grind. You have a strong psychic and spiritual power. However, this power only works for you when you embrace the lesson of Virgo, serving yourself and others through active involvement with others, attending to the nitty-gritty details of life. “Spirit helps those who help themselves” is a good mantra for you. i.e., you have to clean up your own messes in life, nobody’s going to do it for you.

North Node in Libra, South Node in Aries
The South Node in Aries represents a competitive urge—you want to win. You may try to do this by being defensive, combative, and competitive with others. However, you only win big when you cooperate in mutually beneficial partnerships, openly share your feelings and intentions, listen to and accept the help of others. You have good relationship karma—involve others in your decisions, and give of yourself, share your talents and abilities with others. You only really benefit from win/win cooperative situations, not win/lose battles.

North Node in Scorpio, South Node in Taurus
The South Node in Taurus suggests a tendency to try to do everything yourself, your way. It can be hard to let go of possessions, for fear that you might need it someday. Following the Scorpio North Node path, sharing resources and responsibilities with other people, really opens up your world. It involves letting go and taking the risk of trusting and depending on another. Ironically, you only find the stability you want through letting others help you in their own way. The rewards are well worth the price.

North Node in Sagittarius, South Node in Gemini
The South Node in Gemini indicates that you can really “overthink” decisions, constantly second-guessing yourself. You got so good at seeing other people’s points of view, that you lost touch with your own. Your Sagittarius North Node indicates that the greatest rewards for you are in trusting your intuition, and being open and honest about yourself and what you want. Overthinking is problematic for you because you can never have enough information to satisfy your mind. You second-guess yourself and become confused, making it very difficult to make decisions you truly trust. Visualizing the outcome, rather than relying on factual, logical information, works much better for you. You have the gift of manifestation—your beliefs create your reality. Indulging in gossip drains your energy—don’t do it.

North Node in Capricorn, South Node in Cancer
The South Node in Cancer indicates an intense desire to care for people. However, overconcern with other people’s emotional well-being may be a sign of your fear of taking charge of your own destiny. This overconcern shows itself as dwelling on the past, being afraid to come out of your shell, making other people’s feelings your problem. You are here to rediscover the thrill of achieving your goals. You need to let other people work out their own problems, and develop and cultivate your own ambition. When you do this, eventually others will come in to support you! You are a natural born leader and manager. Because you have the gift of empathy, people trust you, and you find fulfillment when you set up structures that support everyone’s well-being. Focusing on your vision for the future will help you let go of the past.

North Node in Aquarius, South Node in Leo
With South Node in Leo, ego drives are very powerful, as the soul craves recognition and respect. Thus, at times you can be dominating, demanding, and willful. The
North Node in Aquarius indicates that you find the respect and approval you want only when you work from a sense of equality with all creatures, inspiring rather than dominating. Because you, more than anyone, understand the value of appreciation, you are a natural born appreciator of others and can motivate others to achieve their best, especially when you work together for a common cause. Being involved in groups and humanitarian causes is very good for you.

North Node in Pisces, South Node in Virgo
The South Node in Virgo suggests an innate practicality and sense of order, but also a sense of panic an anxiety when things do not go as planned. Therefore, you may burden yourself and others with rigid expectations of proper behavior or “perfect” situations.
The North Node in Pisces represents this lifetime’s mission: let go of worry and work on developing a sense of the connectedness of everyone and everything. Your longing for order and perfection is satisfied only through the realization that everything is in divine order, even if our limited human minds perceive only chaos.
