Anyone else have a Cappy ASC, or know anything about these people? I think maybe I'm not paying enough attention to Saturn's role in my chart (big surprise, right?)... is it true the asc ruler also rules the chart, or, are there stipulations, or what?IP: Logged |

"Ascendant in Capricorn with a key phrase of: Progress. You have a serious and reserved facade, and during your early years you developed the commitment and self-discipline to rise above many difficulties and obstacles in your family life. You carry a burden of high expectations and are often afflicted by gnawing doubts concerning your ability. You probably work too hard and give yourself too little time to express your emotions. Conversely you tend to attract the emotional type of partner who is looking for security and is attracted by your responsible and hardworking nature. Frustrated by your inhibited and formal nature, your partner will make many emotional demands. The more you soften up and trust your feelings, the more your partner will feel stabilised emotionally. The fewer burden you take on, the less dependant your partner will be." * * * "Capricorn Rising gives an image of an ambitious person intent upon achieving material security. She takes into consideration anything to which she has access, to facilitate her in her upward climb to success. Because of her prudence, she is adept at utilizing any information she comes by. She may appear as aloof, cool, or at least reserved, especially on first impression. Anything she does has a purpose, and is done to reach a practical goal. Patience, discipline and hard work help her to reach the goals, which were set early in life. Though her journey may be slow, she is sure-footed and never changes direction. Organized and systematic, she is capable of handling heavy responsibilities and obligations. Her reputation is very important to her and she feels a need to develop herself fully. For whatever she contributes, she feels she deserves something in return, and she wants to feel appreciated. Saturn in the 1st house shows similar tendencies. Key phrase for Capricorn: “I utilize”. With Capricorn rising, you are attracted to Cancer, governing the 7th house cusp. Cancer’s nurturing qualities help balance out a serious business sense. Capricorn is the Cardinal Earth sign, corresponding in the natural zodiac to the tenth house of the career and professional goals." IP: Logged |

Aside from the seriousness and tendency toward self-doubt, that sounds nothing like me. I am undoubtedly one of the most irresponsible, undisciplined, and unmotivated people I've ever known. My lack of ambition is mind-boggling. (Sure, in theory, I'd like to walk the earth in search of enlightenment, donning nothing but the cloth upon my loins, ministering to the disenfranchised, and eventually die a horrible martyr's death, thereby giving strength and hope to countless generations.... but, seriously, talk about your "vanity of vanities".) I have Capricorn Rising, and Astro Junkie's description fits me perfectly. I am also married to a Cap sun with Cancer rising! I have sun, moon, and mars and Aries, and a very high energy level. I usually have lots of projects and activities going at once. I suppose because of my Cap Rising, I keep on working until the projects are done. I work HARD (to quote President Bush!). I am driven, intense, and will work non-stop to meet a goal. My saturn is in the 8th house, (in virgo), opposite jupiter (in pisces) in the 2nd house. A great deal of my "work" is in taking care of relatives, usually older - because no one else in the family will pick up the slack. I am always shocked when they later leave me $, or insist on giving me $. IP: Logged |

Heart Shaped Cross -Maybe the birth time is a little off, they say it's not uncommon. Either that, or there are stronger influences in your chart. Do you have any aspects to your Asc? Let's see ... for the heck of it, do any of these two sound more like you? "Ascendant in Sagittarius with a key phrase of: Influence & understanding. You are powerfully motivated to understand your place in the world and the meaning of your existence. Your curiosity and need to explore your boundaries will lead you to travel considerably during the course of your life. If or when you prefer the settled life, then you will read, study and discuss to gain further insight into the world. You are philosophically orientated, seeking depth and answers. In partnership matters you may often feel that your opinions are trivialised; conversely other people feel you take yourself to seriously. When you are bombastic and opinionated, other people compensate by being flippant or, in your eyes, superficial. An acceptance of the relativity and diversity of truth, and a certain self-deprecating humour, can make you easier to get on with." "Ascendant in Aquarius with a key phrase of: Future vision. You may well have had an unusual upbringing which will have brought out the outsider in your nature. You are a friendly person, extremely curious about other people, yet you may often feel that you do not belong. You seek out groups to be with and are extremely loyal, but may be disappointed by your friends. It is difficult for you to understand that the bonds of friendship do not supersede those of family or marriage. In your own intimate relationships, partners find you friendly but cool and distant. You have very little personal ego, and have difficulty understanding what you see as other people's self-obsession. You are stubborn, particularly as regards your opinions. However you are an original and fascinating person. You can strike out on a unique course in life and pave a way into the future which can be an inspiring example for future generations." They both sound more like me than the Cap descriptions. Sagittarius more so, but I've read Aquarius Rising descriptions before that have been spot-on. Jeanne Avery's book on Rising Signs is really good. I do have strong Sag and Aquarius influences elswhere in the chart, so its pretty vague. Aspects to my ASC: Sun Sextile 6°57' Mercury Semisquare 1°19' Orb Venus Sextile 5°01' Saturn Trine ??? Uranus Sextile 4°19' Pluto Square 3°13' Midheaven Sextile 4°25' N. Node Trine 3°17'

I wonder if Trine's & Sextile's can affect the Asc in the same way a Conjunction does. Does anyone know? Where it colors his Asc? Or do they just basically help the energies flow and get along. I have - Sun Trine MC Moon Sextile Asc Jupiter Trine Asc Saturn Trine Asc also have the dreamiest Planets shaking things up - Uranus Square Asc Neptune Square MC IP: Logged |

i've got a cappy rising. whenever people met me they all tease me about not talking enough. i come off as very shy, reserved, and a bit of an observant watcher. but, once they get to know me they realize i never shut up. i am more reserved than most people however, and i tend to dress "classicly" as in movie star of a by gone era chic. when i was younger, i would get asked like 10 times a day "what's wrong?" i guess i have a melancholy appearance. people also always mistake me for being years younger than i am.... cappy, cappy, cappy!IP: Logged |

Hi. Another Cappy ASC here. I find that I fit the descriptions I read of Cap rising - BUT - also I often fit the descriptions of Aqua rising. I have that sign intercepted in the first. Someone once told me that intercepted signs (the whole sign inside one house - not on the cusp of any houses), tend to 'blossom' or 'flower' outwardly for that person as the years go by. It's like the intercepted sign is hidden from others - and the self - and slowly starts to emerge over the years. I would say this is true. I am more and more like an Aqua ASC as the days go by. It may have to do with Uranus conj. my MC as well - making me appear even more 'Aquarian-like'. Heart Shaped - If I rememer correctly you were born in Boston. I was born in Dorchesta! So I'm thinking you may have an interceped first house yourself. Because people born at that latitude and longetude on the planet, tend to have interceped houses. Check it out. You may have Aqua interceped in the first as well and that might be why you feel the descriptions dont fit you well. (along with other chart factors) quote: Aside from the seriousness and tendency toward self-doubt, that sounds nothing like me. I am undoubtedly one of the most irresponsible, undisciplined, and unmotivated people I've ever known. My lack of ambition is mind-boggling.
LOL! I hear you!! BTW, where's Uranus? You've gotta have Uranus in the 9th or 10th too....right up by the MC, right? That will have an affect on you too. IP: Logged |

Hi Goldie!!It is the same with my husband and me!! Nothing can tear us apart. The (2) of us have a lot of the same synastry combinations that you (2) have. What I love about him (CAP sun and CANCER rising), is that I can always count on him and he is kind. We moved to the Philadelphia area from Boston. Maine is beautiful! IP: Logged |

puppy -I may as well have written that myself; (except for the part about classic, movie-star dress) I fit your description perfectly. I swear, the next person who asks me 'what's wrong' is going to get a fist-ful of what's wrong... taurus -
Yes I do have Aquarius Intercepted (and Leo intercepted in the 7th). My Aqua moon is at 0 degrees, approx. 10 degrees from the ASC. I do have a Uranus/Venus/Sun/MC Conjunction. IP: Logged |

Another cappy rising here. My sun sign is in leo, moon in sag. Nobody ever guess my sun sign. They think I’m Gemini or something else. I have something of leo appearance, green eyes lots of hairs, good teeth. But I am kind of shy especially with strangers. I look Ok an peoples often think that i am puffed up. Last year I was having so much trouble with my health. Steel feeling it…

Both my husband and my best friend are Cappy rising and both are US Marines. My husband is a Pisces sun-Aries moon, best friend is a Libra sun and moon. Outwardly both are extraordinarily disciplined and conservative in many aspects of their lives, both are very responsible and interested in doing well and doing the "right" thing. My husband is much more money and status motivated and a born salesman, he's extraordinarily charming. Best friend is a little more understated and tasteful, also very charming, but in a different way. He's not such a joker and doesn't need to be the centre of attention all the time like hubby does, lol. But anyone's first impression of the two of them would be that they are solid, responsible, respectable, hard-working, dependable, honest, etc. quote: You have a serious and reserved facade, and during your early years you developed the commitment and self-discipline to rise above many difficulties and obstacles in your family life.
That resounds true for them both. My husband had a horrible childhood where his mother was involved in selling drugs and prostitution and was deported when he was 10. Then he went to live with his father and his father's new family who were Jehovah's Witnesses. He wasn't a bad kid, just a normal bratty teenager, but of course a power struggle ensued with his step-mother who gave his father an ultimatum which had my husband out on his ass at 16. So he ended up forfeiting a full svholarship to the San Francisco College of Art because he had to drop out of school to support himself... and then he met a Marine Corp recruiter who helped him get his GED and he shipped off to boot camp right after his 17th birthday. My best friend came from a similar background. His mother was mentally ill and he was in and out of foster homes for most of his childhood. He was involved with gangs, but luckily instead, he went into the Marines right after high school. I think it's interesting, the only two Cappy RISING ( ) ppl I know have such similar lives and backgrounds. Especially regarding their family. Don't know what evryone else's experience of them has been like, but obviously I think highly of them since one is my husband and the other is one of my best friends. They're the only two outside of my blood relatives I could really honestly count on for anything, anytime, nothing being out of the question.... Cheers.
