Angelina jolie has venus in cancer on her ascendant n i dont think everyone finds her beautiful i find that she repulses me even though im cancer too with gemini moon and our charts are compatible

You are onto something here, Belgz, I think what we are talking about here is sexual allure, as opposed to good looks.

But it leads to another thought: Maybe Venus doesn't have anything to do with your "looks" - they might be ruled by bilogical/genetic factors indeed - and apart from that: beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.

But Venus in aspect to ASC might say something on how much importance and "meaning" a person places to his/her looks - how much work or effort this person applies for improving his/her looks - how much he/she cares about her appearance.

So ... my theory would be: A person with a strong aspect from Venus to ASC does care a lot about his/her apperance - he/she is expressing her aesthetic tastes and values directly via his/her outer persona, or, to say it in an easier way: invests much into her clothing, make-up, hairdo etc. He/she would have a natural urge to "dress up" ...? Or: to "decorate"?

Whereas people without Venus-ASC-contacts might channel their aesthetic instincts into other domains, culture/art/sports - and just "care less" about their looks. (Which does NOT imply that they are "careless" in their appearance, of course! They can have a stunning natural beauty - they just don't spend so much effort on it or don't worry so much, maybe.)

With me, Venus SQUARING the ASC, is is a mixed bag - according to the "theory" above.

I think I am very good looking, haha. But this is a matter of taste, of course. What CAN be said about me objectively though, is this: I care a lot about STYLE in general - my appartment is decorated in the same style as my clothes are, I have been a "retro"-fan very much for decades now, my overall-style is quite coherent, I am very distinctive and selective - I don't need anything expensive (neither fashion nor furniture), but it has to be original/authentic ... difficult to describe. But people do recognize "my style" very often, say something like "that's a typical alvarella-skirt" or something like that.

I DO care a lot about my genuine/original "style" - and also about my female appearance - I care about looking feminine with an "innocent, but alluring" touch (very Virgo, my Venus is in Virgo), I despise anything too vulgar, would NEVER show myself topless, not even at beaches or at a private swimming pool, and so on an so forth. I hardly do anything with make-up! (Just a black eyeliner like in the Sixties and some powder and sometimes also lipstick, that's all.) And ... I can't stand men wearing flipflops, for instance. Totally unerotic - would kill all the attraction in an instance, haha. I can't stand men with long hair, etc,. etc.

So: Venus square ASC in my case means ... that sometimes I may exagerate with my aethetic tastes, I am really very disrciminate - and, in secret, I DO believe the individual "style" tells a lot about a person! It is like a book I am reading in.

Some friends say, that I overdo it with my critical "aestehtic" view ... that this might limit my perspective ... and some think that this is superficial.

Which is NOT AT ALL true. And it has NOTHING to do with how much money one spends on fashion or sth - I am NOT rich at all, I rather buy my clothing at very cheap thrift stores, etc., second hand, vintage pieces - very cheap!

The "superficial view": NOT TRUE!!! It has more to do with ... "the sociology of styles" for me (my Venus is not only in Virgo, but squaring my ASC from my lofty/intellectual 9th house as well). I really can READ the whole Style of a person like a language of signs, how he/she talks, what she's wearing, which music she prefers, etc... It TELLS me a lot - even though sometimes it is hard to describe to other people who don't have that instinct.

And: It does not mean that I "judge" people by their looks! I just get ... clues/impressions on their mental/emotional set-up by taking their "language of style" into account.

Really - there's a French socilogy-school (Pierre Bourdieu and others) which also deals with "The Aesthetics of every day life" - and Roland Barthes is a strong inllectual force here. Susan Sontag also has dealt with matters of STYLE (she wrote about the "Camp" for instance). THIS is what I am talking about, mainly.

So - that's VENUS SQUARE ASC from my perspective. ;-)

Actually, I was not saying that I was astonishingly beautiful; actually, I made a joke on that. (Tried to apply some irony here, whish is not understood by all, and which might suffer due to my foreing-language-problem.)

But I am serious with what i REALLY was talking about - that's why I am replying: I really do believe that the VENUS-placement in a chart does give some clues on how much emphasis a person lays on (seemingly) "superficial" things, outer appearances, design, decoration and the likes.

Whether one sees these matters as "signs", as a kind of "language" and all. It was about STYLE - as an abstract word - NOT as a "judgement".

So uncomprehendable?
