Jane said in another post re planets being placed in another's 1st house:

quote:
The 1st house is the only house where I think the planet person feels it more.
Edit: I didn't phrase that right. The 1st house is where I think the planet person most feels it (not that they necessarily feel it more than the house person).

quote:
I think we heavily feel whatever it is of ours that we put in the other's 1st.

i suppose the "majority" view which i have been following is that the house person will feel what the planet person sticks in their first, eg someone's mars in your 1st, you'll display martian like behaviour towards them. however, i always thought that maybe the planet person feels something as well, they know what they are putting in your 1st and in effect encourage that behavour from you but is the controlling person or provocateur/the one that elicits that behaviour.

when it comes to planets conj asc (or a point in 1st), then the planet person would be active and the asc person would be receptive and simply appreciate the behaviour from planet person. for ex, mars person who has mars conj anothers' asc will display maritian behaviour towards them, asc person will appreciate the behaviour, but wont be able to reciprocate as such.

however, jane has an interesting and valid theory. if there is conj between asc and mars in synastry for example, mars person will act only. it makes sense that mars person would act upon house person even if mars just falls in house and there is no conj with asc. in fact, you'd say that mars person is acting or using their martian energies on the 1st house person and directly relating to the projection/appearance and other qualities of 1st house person and thus might feel a stronger urge to resolve than 1st house even though 1st house person would feel it as well. cf other houses, maybe the planet person's resolve would weaker and they would "feel less" because it is a less indirect attachment to the house person.

Any takers?

http://www.cafeastrology.com/articles/synastryplanetsinhouses.html

quote:
Let's take a look at Mercury overlays. If your partner's Mercury falls in your sixth house, for example, your partner has the effect of "mercurializing" (a term coined by astrologer Steven Forrest) sixth house matters in your life. The sixth house rules daily routines, health matters, and the like. It deals with the ways we organize our day-to-day life, and rules such things as making appointments, taking pills or vitamins, and other such "routines" that ensure our lives run relatively smoothly.

When you are with your partner (whose Mercury falls in your 6th house), you may feel the need or desire to chat about your daily routines. This may be because your partner asks you questions about these matters. It may be because your partner seems to want you to define these matters. You might find this fun, you might find it annoying, and at different times, you might find it a bit of both!

quote:
In house overlays, however, the "roles" each person plays are not quite as straightforward. If my Moon is in your 5th house, I am effectively bringing the Moon to your 5th house ("lunarizing", as Steven Forrest would say, your 5th house), and you would be "5th house-ing", so to speak, my Moon. The energy doesn't go only one way! My influence on you would effectively make you emotional about your own creativity and self-expression through romance, children, entertainment, and all of those fifth house matters. In turn, you would have an effect on my emotions by enlivening them with your own special blend of creative self-expression.

quote:
Although house overlays go both ways, it is helpful to remember that the planet person is impacting the house person in specific ways. The house person will see the planet person in a way that is colored by the matters and conditions of that particular house! So, as a general rule, if my Moon, for example, falls in your 4th house, you (as the house person) will see me as someone from whom you get emotional support. That is really the bottom line. Similarly, if my Sun falls in your 11th house, although we both will consider each other friends, you (as the house person) will be the one who is fixed in that impression. I will certainly react to the view you have of me, but I may eventually tire of being viewed as "only a friend", for example, if your Sun overlays my 8th house and therefore I see you as someone with whom I want to share on an intimate, one-to-one level. You may be fine about sharing me with others, but I won't be so thrilled with the idea of passing you around.

1st house synastry messes with me. Someone's sun and moon fell into my first house (where my Mars is, no less), and their sun and moon also conjunct my ascendant.

I swear, it felt too much. Very attracted to the person (it was mutual), but felt completely clouded when they weren't around. Consuming. It was too much for me, I think.

This is a powerful spot, twice I've met with men planets placed here, resistance was futile.

One had Mars Conjunct my Ascendant, in Scorpio, Opposite my Venus.

Later I met my husband, he has Neptune rising on my chart, in Scorpio, Opposite my Venus.

In both cases there was other strong planetary interactions.

When I was working in tourism, there I met many men. They came to me, were just talking and talking and I had to work.
As I have started pretty late with Astrology, I have asked them lately: why are you hanging on here? You could come in the morning and not now (because of pains I was working in the afternoon).
They told me: because of you!

After that I have asked them for hour of birth (I knew all other data's):
most of them had some planet in my 1st house: Sun, Mars, Moon, Venus, NN and specially Uranus there - born 1970, 1971,1972. Since then I believe very much in the planets in the 1st house from other person.

For me is still better the combination:
my Sun in his 7th, and his planet in my 1st.

I very much agree with1st house synastry being important.

You said that the Mars-person would show Martian behaviour towardst he ASC-person?
What does that mean?
Would there be sexual attraction (if he was a man and she a woman) or agression? Or both?

Mr Mars in Scorpio of my acquaintance at first struck me as being aggressive. It put me off. But he's not like that at all, as I later found out, he's quite a gentle spirit.

It's a very sexual contact, but the sign we are talking about is Scorpio. What other way could it go?

Maybe in another context where we don't have two single people of the same sexual orientation things could go differently and the energy could become aggressive.

BUT maybe I should add here, I have Mars Square Ascendant. If their Mars is Conjunct my Ascendant, we're going to get Mars Square Mars.

DD - Aggression, to fight for the cause, sexual attraction - all those martian qualities.

Now in regard to non-ASC 1st house synastry, do you think planet person or house person would feel more? Or is it a case that planet person evokes a reaction from house and then house feels more (as what Cafeastrology seems to suggest).

23,

I`m not sure who would feel more.
Usually I`d say the house-person,but 1st house is interesting and probably different.

I definitely think thatif there is a conjunction to ASC, the planetary person would feel more actively and be initiative. ASC-person is just being there, triggering that reaction.
Of cousre ASC would then react, too.

But how it is if planets are not conjunct the ASC?
I definitely think planetary person would make a deep impression on 1st house person, there would be some sense of identification.
But how exactly I am not sure.

Just want to add:

"The Angles are what give shape and focus to the Soul's particular expression for any given lifetime as it is these four points that tie the Soul to a location within the matrix of Earth and Sky, thus mooring it in a tangible form we call Body. Although they do not define the structure of the Soul itself, they do lay out the boundaries of the playing field upon which it may undertake its activities.

Like the fence around a playground, they both limit the Soul's freedoms and enhance them by making clear what the options are. The Body itself is not so much a container for the Soul as is often thought but, rather, the temporary form it takes for a particular manifestation; metaphorically speaking, one might say that Body is the solid form of Personal Existence and Soul the liquid."

..." A synastric chart comparison involving the Ascendant, for example, indicates how the relationship impacts one's sense of self and, vice-versa, how one's sense of self impacts the relationship. Each Angle impacted also influences all of the other Angles. In the example just given, how one's sense of Self (Ascendant) is impacted determines what one projects onto the Other (Descendant), how the relationship integrates with one's Family (Nadir), and how it expresses itself in Society (Midheaven)."

ASC is there waiting and other person's planet is attacking.

I think that person with planet in my (or any other) 1st house feels more than I do. I have such an experience and don't know for other people.

I've recently met a guy with four planets that fall in my first house. I didn't really notice him up until I realized how much he noticed me he keeps staring at me, which, I admit, flatters me. I think that this overlay affects him more than me. Based on my personal experience, it's always the planet person that has the active role and the house person is more passive. Maybe it's because three planets aren't in the same sign as my ASC?
Otherwise my first house is empty.
What do you think? Have you too experienced anything like this?

Interesting thread. There's someone I know whose Pisces sun is in my 1st house, yet they have a stellium in my 7th house (with Saturn in Libra in that stellium, as well as Mars and Pluto in Libra in there, too). Could this be some sort of even exchange/trade off in terms of attraction, where we both feel a strong attraction toward each other? Or is one person going to feel much more of an attraction toward the other than the other way around?

Thanks!

Maybe you should look at what the planets do, too, not just the houses.
Because it seems that houses are always tricky..

i think that since the first house is that of identity, the house person identifies with whatever planet is being put in there.
So if A's Sun is in B's first house, B will identify with A's ego and find it familiar. B might get the feeling that he knows this person well already especially if lots of planets are in first. He will see A's personality as part of his own identity. The planet person doesn't feel it as much I dont think.
