Hello everyone!

I found this recently...

quote:
The Nodes of the Moon tend to be very significant in synastry. Strong Nodal ties are powerful. The individuals are drawn to each other. In the natal chart, the Nodal axis suggests powerful lessons an individual needs to learn in this lifetime, and when A's Nodal axis falls on personal planets or points in B's chart, the magnetism is powerful indeed. Perhaps B will play a large role in A's life, and either represent or force A to live out some of the issues inherent in the condition of the Nodal axis.

Important note about the Nodes in synastry: If person A's planet (especially a personal planet) conjuncts B's South Node, the connection is there, no doubt. Person A will feel extremely comfortable with person B, at first. However, person A will eventually feel that the relationship drains him/her of energy, and may feel the need to move on and release him/herself from the relationship, as the relationship pulls him/her into the past. We all face our North Node issues at some point in our lives (we often start the process in our 30's!). If another person is emphasizing our South Node without equal or greater aspects to our North Node, we may feel held back and "outgrow" that person!

Also note that there can be some uneasiness and hesitance when the Nodes, especially North Nodes, are strongly contacted by the planets and points of another person. The magnetism can be strong (and it isn't necessarily sexual, occurring in platonic friendships and relationships as well), but a certain amount of fear can be present (on the part of the Node person).

One way of looking at Nodal contacts in synastry: A person's planet conjunct your North Node is pulling you forward, toward lessons that you need in order for spiritual growth and happiness. But you may be somewhat reluctant to face these issues, depending on "where you're at" in the path. A person's planet conjunct your South Node is pulling you back into familiar territory. There is something "easy" about the relationship, and the lure can be strong, although you may eventually sense that you need something more, which can be viewed as "outgrowing" the relationship or even the person.

I have heard that the South node hides clues about past lifes but I donīt actually know much about it...

My South Node is conjunct his Venus and my North Node conjunct to his Pluto... Does that mean that love connected us in previous lives? Pluto is the planet of rebirth, of reincarnation... Actually, we are getting close to 30... And maybe that love is going to come back to life...

My Satrurn and Venus trine his South Node / sextile his North Node...

All this aspects are 3š or closer in orb. We have other respective exact connections with each otherīs nodes but they are less significant (weak aspects).

Any clue? Have you got connections to your partnerīs nodes or the other way around? How do they work for you?

Thanks!!!

Hi Steelrose,
I found something similar to your posted article. I'll try to find it again.... 'til then,....
my Husband's North Node is conjunct my Asc. exact. This makes an opposition to my Venus( 2degree orb )and, trines our Moon's, which are conjunct at 26degrees Pisces. I'm still figuring out how to decipher everything in astrology though so, I don't have a lot to offer in understanding yet....

Steelrose,

From your information, I see, and I'll add here that house numbers would put more info into this scenario, but... this is what I read, perhaps in a past life you have been his wife. (venus) One of those that held duty and public/social status as being more important than a warm happy family life (Saturn). He has been, at that time in a powerful/important postition in society and it served you both well then. His Pluto being on your N Node suggests to me that he has the ability to help you achieve whatever you require this time around. There is an absence of 'warm loving' aspects, so what I feel is that there is too much of 'The business of making our relationship seem right - rather than feel right (ie your challenge).
Whenever we talk about past lives - its surely a case of - which one??

Thanks Geminstone! Iīm looking forward to that article... Letīs give a try to the interpretation... Your husbandīs North Node conjunct your ascendant could mean the kind of person you are, helps him, pulls him forward... Your Venus position feels more important... Itīs conjunct with his South Node... So you could have been lovers in a past lifetime... Is his South Node in your 6th or 7th house? Conjunct Moons could mean a emotional connection... You are caring and sacrificing towards each other, you are easily moved and in sync... This could have been already that way or inherited from experiences in previous lifetimes.

WOW, Absynthe... You could be right... What do you call “warm loving aspects”? I forgot to mention His Neptune exactly conjuncts my Moon (which conjuncts my own Neptune and Ascendant). That multiple conjunction sextiles my North Node / trines my South Node (only 1š orb)...

I thought his Venus conjunct my South Node would mean “warm loving” feelings from him towards me in a past life... Venus is a beneficial planet and symbolises love, doesnīt it?

Thanks!!!

Hiya,
Warm loving aspects (to me) would be venus/sun/moon/Asc/Mars combinations, Venus is lovely, but shes more of a love me because Im attactive to you in someway type of energy. More desirable, sexy than loving unconditionally. With the Saturn Venus Pluto Nodal combination, its more like 'utilize my grace and attraction to get ahead.' Regarding Neptune the moon and your ascendant, one would need to know if the planets were in 12th house or 1st. Personally I would be inclined to be wary of deception, but thats a whole another kettle of fish. Chart rulers and house placements need to be considered.

Hmmmm... You mean venus/sun/moon/Asc/Mars combinations among themselves or with the Nodes?

His Venus (conj my South node) trines my Moon/ Neptune and squares my Mars.
Also his Pluto (conj my North Node) squares my Mars.

My Venus sextiles his North Node / trine his South Node (I think I did mention it...)

My Neptune conj My Moon, which conjuncts his Neptune, are in my 12th house conjuncting my Ascendant... The 12th is the house of reincarnation and past lives, isnīt it? My Moon also trines His Sun...

Other weaker aspects...
His Mars semisextiles my South Node
My Sun semisextiles his North Node

Actually, thinking about it Absynthe, you may have a point... If you are right and I was his wife, a wife picked to fit social/public status, to fit his position, to be shown as a trophy... If the marriage was deceifully great and perfect from outside, but cold... If we are back to ammend that...

I always felt beneath him, even when I was more successful and I came from a family with higher status... I always felt irrationaly inferior, dreaded his indiference... I did felt as if I was valued because I fit in his masterplan, not because he truly felt anything for me... Even when we never got together... There was a strange feeling of belonging... I always felt neglected... And he always was sure of my devotion... Maybe we were carrying this from the past...

Maybe this time around Iīm the one with the highest position as it happens to be... He was always wary of the differences, something I never considered... Maybe he is here to face how it feels to be in my shoes... Maybe I need to prove a warm relationship is possible... Maybe I need to stop that paralysing fear of his coldness... He is warmer to me than I have never accepted...

We may be tied in a karmic lock...

Can you see anything else from the extra info I provided? Thanks!!! This is really important... Iīm about to contact him after 5 years of distance...

What does it mean if one person's southnode is conjunct the other's north (and vice versa)? And if their suns trine? And his sun is conjunct her pluto?

Hi Steelrose

Another few things to look at is any connections you each may have with your Vertex and your Sun/Moon midpoint.

For example, between myself and G, my Vertex is at 3 of Aries and his Venus is at 4 of Aries.

Also, his Sun/Moon midpoint is at 16 of Sag, and I have Venus and Neptune conjunct at 19 of Sag.

The Mars/Venus midpoint is also an indicator of attraction, passion, sexual chemistry, etc, but I've read that the Sun/Moon midpoint is more to do with great loves and relationships.

Do you know how to work out your midpoints? Let me know if you need any help.

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. I have been studying up on this myself for the last month or so!

I'm completely fascinated by the Nodes and what they may mean in regard to past life Karma. I have the South Node conjunct Uranus with the guy I (unrequitedly) love, and I'm not sure what this means as far as our past life (lives?) together. But as Uranus rules things of a unconventional nature, there is definitely that as there is a vast age difference between us, with me being the older one.

And in our Composite chart, the South Node conjuncts Saturn which I was told by an astrologer that in our case meant we shared previous lives together in which there was also an age difference between us.

I also think that the House of the natal chart in which the other person's South Node falls in reveals more about the past life Karma between couples, as well as the House of the Composite chart which holds the Composite South Node.

Hi, Aquarian... Thanks for the info!!! It sounds fascinating... I have no idea of how to calculate midpoints or finding out the position of our Vertex...

Iīd really be grateful if you pointed me in the right direction... What is Vertex and what is its symbolism? I have heard it before but I donīt have a clue about it...

Sassy , maybe he was unconventional in your past life, maybe due to age difference as you say... Maybe you found a lot of opposition due to conventionalism, breaking the boundaries... Maybe people of authority tried to cut your love short causing you pain and distress (Saturn in the Composite South Node).

Letīs see...

His South Node is in Aries in my 5th house (equal houses) or 4th house (Placidus).

This is all I know about houses because unfortnately I donīt know his time of birth (so I donīt know his ascendant).

What can it be said about it?

Steelrose, this is a GREAT article about what the Vertex is: http://www.thezodiac.com/notworth.htm

This one says basically the same thing, just less in depth: http://karma.astrology.com/vertex.html

If you go to astro.com and choose the "extended chart selection" at the bottom of the free charts page, there's a menu of various asteriods and points you can have displayed on your chart. Choose the Vertex and, viola!

So for the Sun/Moon midpoint, there is a very easy-peasy way of calculating it.

I couldn't find an explanation by googling so let me take a stab at it. Basically the whole chart has 360 degrees on it. Every sign is allocated 30 degrees of the wheel.

So.... 4 Aries = 4
10 Cancer = 100
5 Aquarius = 305

Do you see how I come up with the latter values? Aries is at the beginning of the wheel, so 4 Aries is simply 4. 10 Cancer is the 100th degree of 360 degrees. You just count until you get to the cusp of Gemini/Cancer 30, 60, 90 and then add 10, because we are 10 degrees past the Gemini/Cancer cusp at 10 Cancer, right?

OK... so... I said that my G's Sun/Moon midpoint is at 16 Sag, right? He has the Sun at 8 Pisces and the Moon at 25 Virgo.

175 + 338 = 513 (we add the two positions together and then divide to find the midpoint)

513 / 2 = 256.5

The cusp of Scorpio and Sag is 240. Hence G's Sun/Moon midpoint is at approximately 16 Sag

Do you get it? I'm sorry if I made a mistake explaining, it was rushed!

Both of us have our South Node in Aries and North Node in Libra. I got this info from another thread (Thanks, Pixie!!! )

quote:
South Node in Aries means an over-assertion of self has been the problem in the past, and personality should become the servant of others in this lifetime.
(by Isabel Hickley)

quote:
This nodal position requires much learning about self-sacrifice and the needs of other people. All the lifetimes of work spent on building self-confidence and esteem must now be transferred to others. The Libra North Node keeps the individual from adding to his sense of self-identity any further. He must guard against strong ego influencing his current life actions.

His long-standing me-first attitude now brings him sharp and painful experiences as he is learning the lessons of co-operation. He must slow down and make sure that all he works for is meaningful, in his marriage and close partnerships as well as all his relations with others. He has to learn to take the sharp edges out of his life and start to balance. While the center road seems less attractive to him, it is still the only path he can have towards happiness.

Ultimately he must learn the very subtle lesson that his strong pioneering individualism isn't actually meant for himself at all, but rather to equip him better so that he can provide others with a more harmonious life.

In past incarnations, progress was all-important, and getting there first was part of the highly competitive Arien drive. This carries over into a definite closed-mindedness which the Libra North Node will ultimately open, showing to the individual the other side of the coin which he had never before thought was important enough to recognize.

He is mentally energizing the wishes of people around him so that he can ultimately be an instrument for their fulfillment. In actuality, he is earning himself a new place in the world by living through the karma of selflessness. Still, the insistent urges of the South Node keep pulling him backwards, often making him feel that this is a lesson he would rather not yet learn.

For many with this Nodal position, there is a deep-seated anger coming out of past-life memories of frustrations which block the self-expression. (by Martin Schulman)

quote:
Previous incarnation for this person was spent with a lot of physical actions, temper and aggression. He had, in that life, achieved and lost many things as he could not learn to understand the significance of balance. (by Mohan Koparkar).

quote:
You may have to learn about the value of relationship co-operation and how you can give to satisfy others' needs. Be less self-preoccupied with your needs, and focus on how relationships can become more meaningful and harmonious through co-operation, rather than preserving selfish attitudes. (Hadyn Paul)

It appears that we share the same life path... We have similar lessons to learn... We may have been both selfish in the past and completely unaware of each otherīs needs... I can visualize the marriage between us...

He could have been an important man with social status, always putting his career first.... or his social affairs... We had to pretend we were the perfect couple and somehow we were well suited... But the relationship was cold...

I could have been a independent and capricious sexy woman... Venus... Lovely in the parties... He was proud of having me...

But in the intimacy we could have been apart... I could feel neglected and bitter because he didnīt adore me... Because he was so undemostrative... Maybe there was a difference in class (Saturn).

He covered my material needs... I could have used his position to have the style of life I wanted. And he used me as the perfect wife, a plastic mannequin to show off.

I know there was love, I can feel the link today...

quote:
Their south node conjunct your Venus: This was undoubtedly a lover in your past and will bring forward subconscious and soul based memories of that. If strong future ties occur it will help you understand what course the relationship will take this time. Often means you are learning about living thru different types of relationships with a beloved friend.

But maybe it was undeveloped, maybe it needs the lesson of selflessness... Pluto (in Libra) will make us change this time round.

Maybe thatīs why I came back as a Virgo (the service and sacrifice) Sun and heīs got so many retrogrades... Hmmmm... What do you reckon?

By the way, I did the calculations... The position of his Moon can be a bit inaccurate because I donīt know his time of birth...

My Sun/Moon midpoint is 7š Scorpio (conjuncting my Uranus and his)

His Sun/Moon midpoint is 3š Virgo (conjuncting my Mercury and close to my Venus and Saturn...)

They form other aspects with the rest of our planets... Which ones are interesting?

Combining both midpoints we would get 5š Libra (right on my MC and just 10š apart from my North Node and a bit closer to both of our Plutos... If the position of his Moon is inaccurate, it could be even closer...)

steelrose ~ That's an interesting take on my possible past life with Mr. Aries, and you may well be right.
...And I have a feeling that some of that has been carried over into this life, and that's one of the crappy things still coming between us..with some of the same people from the past causing problems and opposing us now.

And as far as your guy's planets landing in your 4th or 5th Houses: it may indicate that one of you were the child of the other, with the 4th House representing the Mother, and the 5th House representing Children. Venus conjunct the South Node in synastry can also indicate a mother-child relationship in a past life.

I too have found some REALLY interesting things in Synastry when looking at the North & South Nodes, as well as the Vertex!

Yeah, with my heartbreak we had Sun conjunct Vesta and the South Node in composite. Personally I think people with whom we share strong SN connections are very "karmic".
