Hello friends, This is going to be a strange question...would a loaded Eighth house cause people to be AFRAID or overly respectful to the Eighth House person? This has been the case my entire life. People tread carefully around me...I am often told "you look mean" or "you look angry all the time" & many other similar expresssions. I get this reaction from males & females. Even though I have no trouble attracting females. I am not a physically imposing man. I would be considered short to medium height. I am very introverted...this could explain some I guess. But there is often outright fear..& I am normal..I don't dress like a weirdo or anything like that. I have the Sun, Moon, Mercury & Venus all in the Eighth house. I am a Sun sign Leo..even though I don't act like a typical Leo. I hate the limelight & avoid it well. I would say that I have an "Aries like" face. But..the way I am treated by others is very interesting. Please let me know what your thoughts are about this Eighth house situation. Thanks in advance....Draconis. IP: Logged |

My mom, she has her sun in scorpio in the 8th, so she's very scorpio like you although she doesn't have any other 8th houses throughout her chart. men and women often tell her (i used to be one of them) that she looks "angry," only when i ask her she's just "thinking about something important." lol if you're introverted some might misinterpret your need for solitude as self-centered...but that probably isn't the case. i'm quite introverted myself, and keep things secret.i'm wondering if you have any strong saturnian aspects to your asc. or 10th houses or saturn in cappy? maybe you can smile more so people won't misjudge you by your appearance. :]Taurus in 12th, Moon in Scorpio in 6th, Asc. in Cancer.

My wife has Sun and Uranus in the eigth house and in Scorpio and she is bright and cheery for the most part.If anything people fear transformation and ending. I've never really heard of eighth house placements making someone scary, dark and overly serious maybe, but not scary. The real question is Pluto's placement and aspects IMO. Where do these fall in your chart Draconis? For instance Sun conjunct Pluto can make someone scary. IP: Logged |

Hmmm...some people say that about me, too. I have only my chart ruler (Mercury) in Taurus in the 8th opposed Pluto in Scorpio in the 2nd. (My Ascendant is Virgo). But then they get to know me and say I'm completely the opposite. IP: Logged |

taurean_scorpion, beebuddy & nove731..Thank you for the reply. beebuddy, the dark & over serious is very accurate. I guess Cap rising (taurean_scorpion zeroed in on that one)..dosn't help much either. I ran that chart using the Equal House. I think it is the most accurate. For those that prefer Placidus (which I think is incorrect)..it would be Pluto & Mercury..w/the Sun entering (therefore interpreted) in the Eighth. But..w/Placidus it does give a 1st House Mars. So Mars in the 1st and Pluto in the 8th..placements. Here's my info if interested: Born-August 19th, 1971 5:55PM Niagara Falls, NY 43n06, 79w03 IP: Logged |

Draconis, I too have an eighth house Leo sun, mercery, mars in the 8th house. But I have never been told that I look mean or angry. In fact people, even complete strangers tend to tell me their life stories. I can easily root out people's secrets, I think because I seem so harmless, and also because I'm very interested.I don't think that's it. More likely it's your first house Mars. Planets in the first house are very prominant. This has been demonstrated to me time and time again. IP: Logged |

The question I get most from people is "are you alright".. When I'm thinking or daydreaming about something, for some reason everyone gets the impression there's something wrong with me..like I'm upset or sad..when I'm not at all. I have moon in the 8th. quote: More likely it's your first house Mars. Planets in the first house are very prominant. This has been demonstrated to me time and time again.
True. I know a few people with Mars on their Asc. They look very, I wouldn't say tough (none of them have fire suns) but kinda like they could do absolutely anything, if they set their minds to it.. like there's nothing in this world they couldn't achieve. It's a very confident, full of life, look. IP: Logged |

lioneye68, " More likely it's your first house Mars. Planets in the first house are very prominant. This has been demonstrated to me time and time again." I completely agree with you..but again, I don't believe in Placidus at all. Sure it gives me a first house Mars. Pluto, Sun & Mercury in the Eighth..but Placidus is all wrong in my opinion. If a person is born in Norway, Peru or New York state...you should be able to use the same House System! Placidus doesn't work like that. The Equal House system is accurate. Many astrologers will say "use whichever system is best for you"....No!...It works or it doesn't..one House System should fit all. I read somewhere that the Placidus system in use today is not even the Original Placidus system...sorry guys, but it's all wrong. Completely flawed. I know this is difficult for many people to accept. Back to a first house Mars..yes, it would give an intense face..and maybe even a warlike or combative image. But...I can't accept the placements of a Placidus chart. I refuse to lie to myself. In my opinion..my chart is rather intense using Placidus....but I won't agree to something that I know is wrong. I don't mean to rant, nor do I want to offend anyone. You guys have been great replying to this post. But I feel very strongly about this.......Draconis. IP: Logged |

Draconis, I like placidus only because it takes into account the longtitude & latittude of where you were born. Well, that and the fact that it was discovered by a triple Virgo. Each house is divided into something like an orange wedge, and that wedge is wider in the middle, but more narrow at the far ends. People born in rather high lattitudes, like Canadians, or rather low lattitudes like Southern Astralians, see some houses pass by much quicker, while other houses tend to be much larger, and these imballances are because of the fluctuation in the number of day-light hours. The houses are all about the sun and it's movement from the rising to setting to rising horizons. As you probably know, the far north & south ends of the globe get no sunlight at all in the winter, and 24 hours of sunlight in the summer. (or maybe it's reversed from one pole to the next?) Anyway, it makes sense to me that the house sizes would be different. Where does the equal house put your mars? 12th or 2nd? IP: Logged |

I have an 8th Venus and Mars, along with Scorp Moon and ASC and Pluto square venus and jupiter. In my humble opinion 8th/Scorp Pluto stuff comes across as so intense that people find it overwhelming. I also find they think all that passion for life is for them - they wish, he he. Personally I find the magnetism part a little harder to deal with, the fear of having to tell someone you don't like them. I used to bury all my enthusiasm for this very reason, now I say stuff it, I'm me if you don't like it go find a little church mouse to play with and if they think it's all for them I gently hint it's not. ------------------ Astro Dilemma _______________________________ ___ "The Sun doesn't give light to the Moon assuming the Moon is going to owe it one" IP: Logged |

Draconis88, I have moon in the 8th, like Lauren people think I seem like the saddest and most beautiful woman they know, emphasis on sad. But my mars is in the 1st in Placidus, and I get angry people a lot who are dissatisfied with their position and place in life, or their self esteem through relationships or work.If I was a career counselor (sun in the 6th) it would work. Eventually you will find your place, don't worry so much about what other people think! That's the big problem with me, Mars Sag/1st house conjunct Neptune. sthenri & Lauren, That is interesting about the remarks that people make about the both of you looking sad. An eighth house moon would have a similar energy to Moon in Scorpio...very intense emotions to say the least. Not always easy to live with. Could the sad look be a possible Pisces asc or Neptune in the 1st? Maybe even Cancer asc? Lioneye68, I didn't forget about you. I respect your opinion about Placidus...even though I still disagree. But to answer your question, Placidus puts Mars in the 2nd. I have posted on more than a few Astrology forums over the years...and the communication here is outstanding. I like that alot. It's terrible when you post a topic & nobody responds..or it takes a week to get a reply. There are some great people here. I also feel that I owe alot to Linda Goodman...it was her excellent book Sun Signs that opened my eyes to Astrology...when I first picked it up at the age of 15. I haven't stopped since.

Natasha, that's very similar to me because I have Mars/Neptune conjunct on my DC, so they're opposite my asc.. I think I seem dreamy, but a lot of people confuse dreamy with sad. Draconis, both Capricorn and Scorpio are hard signs for the moon to be in, and in some ways they are pretty similar. My moon is Cap and in the 8th. It's very strange with Scorpio mooners though. I'm either very close to them and we bond straight away, or the opposite happens and I feel uneasy around them. Usually that’s when they show a lot of the negative traits of Scorp. I have a lot of Piscean influence, so that could be why I seem sad. My Mercury (chart ruler) is Pisces, so is Jupiter, and my Neptune is trine Venus, conjunct Mars etc..I have a lot of Neptune and Pluto aspects. IP: Logged |

Draconis88 -I'm going to take a little bit of a different approach here and say, it may not be as important to try to understand the effect you have on others as much as it would be important for you yourself to know, what is it you WANT others to know about you ... You really cannot make any progress regarding all this if you are motivated by fear first. Let your motivation be out of love, first and foremost. As for other insights into your Chart's influences, go ahead and read material on Scorpio Sun's, Moon's, and Ascendant's. See if anything sort of pops out at you. Those interpretations will not be 100% relatable to you, but you may gain some insights when you look at what IS. ------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness IP: Logged |

Sun aspects to Pluto can make a person seem dark, its even worse when the ascendant makes aspects to Pluto then the person seems intimidating and scary.I have Sun,Neptune,Jupiter,Uranus and South Node in Eigth house all in Sagittarius and my ascendant opposes my pluto and Pluto sextiles my sun. I don't look like the most frindliest person in the world and seem rather secretive and forbiding (well atleast thats what I am told). My Taurus ascendant opposes my Saturn and Venus and my Lilith in Pisces trines my Pluto(all being important planets in relationships) that makes personal relationships hard to form. Yes,life is definately challenging IP: Logged |
