What would lead someone to have some kind of ADD http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/article.aspx?articleId=40§ionId=14657

and how would it show in a natal chart... i will go into more as to why later but i should have left the house already..

But any insight into this subject and how it pertains to my chart would be absolutely invaluable right now.

Pixie.

Well that there Sun in Aquarius should do it...speaking from personal experience of course, though never been diagnosed, or for that matter ever seen a shrink for any help or a diagnosis...but then again I dont really think I have ADD, but some people thought I did.

I have a habit of interrupting and zoning out mid conversation alot of times...I think that's normal when someone else is talking about something you dont care to listen or talk about. lol, I cant believe they tested for your hearing

Typical for Aquarians...very bright but usually "underachievers."

My diagnosis from reading your live journal is...I dont think you have ADD...I think you are perfectly normal(for an Aquarius)...and people have to accept this and so do you/we...I think with age and more discipline (with the help of some major transits) those traits can work more in your favour.

Ok I also see Sun square Uranus should really do the trick...also adding further impatience and unpredictability?

funkyaquarianpixie,

you sound very similar to me. i don't have ADD, but I do have an LD which is very similar to it. the only placement I have in common with you is venus in pisces. maybe it could possibly be that? (i wouldn't know, but it's possible).

Actually, I've found a lot of Aquarians to be overachievers. But I have met a lot of underachieving Aquarians too. Either way, they tend to be really smart, almost smarter than most people.

I'd bet that the Aquarian energy has something to do with a diagnosis.

My husband has an Aqua Sun in the 3rd + a 1st House Uranus conj. Jupiter sextile his Sun.
If you look at those little lists of symptoms, he manifests nearly every single one for ADHD. Doctors throughout his childhood have thought the same thing (that was an ongoing battle of his youth).
He's actually on Adderall now (diagnosed through his work); I'm pretty against willy-nilly prescription giving, and I had serious misgivings before he started, but it's helped him to focus, calm down, and not be so "out-bursty".

I have a 1st House Uranus trine Pisces Sun and 3rd House (badly aspected) Aqua Moon.
I fit pretty much all of the criteria for having ADD (not so much for ADHD), but I mostly deal with it by making lists (to keep me on track) and accepting that I'll pretty much always be at least a little spacy.
It's nice, really - like a free vacation

Veering off point:
Does anyone know the connection between heavily "outer planet" charts and the diagnosis of mental illness in general?

well girls allegedly can display quieter forms of ADD, without the hyperactive.

Anyway in my quest for better mental health I cant really leave that stone unturned, with doctors and the like.

oh if anyone checks out the entry (in my livejournal) after that I had massive row with soon to be step sister, actuially she got nasty and called me childish.

Got so wound up my guts hurt.

Geminis or maybe Aquarius.

I once read that many Indigo and Crystal children, born from the 1970's and up will be told they have it when in reality they are just more advanced.

Sometimes other people are just freakin boring and you loose interest easily

And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.

You could've always responded w/, "Aw, sis - you're just jealous because you've prematurely become an old fart!"

OK, OK, that was just joking around.

I read your livejournal entry, and you could've been describing me.

If the diagnosis of ADD makes you hopeful (and that's completely understandable - it's much easier to deal with something or a set of something once it's defined), also explore the ways in which ADD can be beneficial.
Look into the Hunter/Farmer hypothesis put forth by Thom Hartmann (see book: The Edison Gene), especially his commentary on the potential benefits of hyperfocusing.
Though the hypothesis may have some serious flaws, there are aspects of it that can be applied and bent to your needs.

As I said above, I pretty much deal with mine through extensive list-making (it doesn't do the whole job by any stretch of the imagination, but it gives me something to focus back on when my attention's flitting around); when I can manage it, a vigorous work-out schedule also helps (an hour + of cardiovascular and strength training...though I'm the first to admit that that doesn't always happen; very rarely anymore, actually). But I've heard of people diagnosed w/ ADD getting through medical school by running 2 hours a day (though heaven knows how they had 2 hours to run during medical school).

Meditation seems to work for a while, and an hour of rather vigorous Yoga can fit nicely in the place of that CV work-out.

Some people claim that changes in diet work wonders - I don't know that much about that, so it's up to you to google it.

And there's the medicinal option.
It seems to work well for my husband; I'm just wary of starting a mandatory regimin that has the potential to last the rest of my life.

Another point: I don't know if you can be diagnosed with depression (re: your earlier question), but many have asserted that depression/alchoholism/addictive behaviors can follow on the heals of untreated ADD - which isn't surprising, given that people may feel generally out of control of their lives.

Oh, I forgot to mention this very useful "coping" skill:

When I'm doing something really boring (like cleaning or some other menial task), I find something to distract myself from just how...distracted I'm getting.

Ex: Listening to a good audio book or internet stream allows me to clean without going insane or drifting off into something else.

Thanks Venusian... raised a chuckle. Yes and the definition of indigo has always sat well with me. Altho i personally dont think its anything new, just aquarian age awareness or summat.

of course diet and therapy over meds anyday, really. Any excuse to eat less processed crap hahaha! mmm spinach salads.

Proxie I have given the book to my ex to read, then its mums turn. Similarities are too compelling from my current viewpoint and mum just told me as a kid i was well behaved, but unable to focus on things.

I used to find i did my best at getting chores done listening to punk and hard techno... haha! punk makes me bounce around and techno and other hard dance is like putting glasses on my focus.. buzz around getting stuff done,

Also i have a soft spot for BBC radio 4, which is documentatires, plays, current affairs, dramas and books and tings.. Its so middle aged and bourgois its funny, Like the manifestation of my first house saturn in everyday habits.

Mostly i get distracted and end up cramming information into my head, via books and the net. Probably why i am so pale haha!

wow, i'm looking at all your planets in virgo (ruled by mercury) in your very personal 1st house (especially mars, your planet of action ... or, in this case, distr-action) and expansive, magnifying jupiter in your subcounscious 12th house. not to mention, your sun is trining your midheaven, which is in gemini (also ruled by mercury).

i'm a double gemini with ADD, so i can somewhat understand. ; )

I'm quadruple Aquarian and was asked if I ever got diagnosed for ADD a few months ago. I think I should get diagnosed, just for the extra help. Really though, there's so much boring **** , unneccessary **** and negative **** that I think I've just begun to zone out even when I dont want to.

My friend's son got diagnosed for ADD and he's very intelligent. I do think it is an Indigo children thing.
