Hey to All,

Just wanted to know if any of you have sometimes felt cursed by Astrology??? By that I mean, do you ever find yourself mentally "charting" people that you meet based upon their looks, demeanor, and so on?

OR, once you know their birth information, are you quick to compose a chart to see how they may or may not fit with you?

And if so, has it ever come back to bite you, because instead of letting nature take its course, your knowledge of Astrology and their birth chart possibly influenced and/or alterered the outcome?

Just wondering,

I think it's a great tool to have, honestly. But, you still need to allow them to be who they are and accept it. Astrology actually helps me in that respect. Why bash your head against a wall if you don't "get" someone? Astrology helps us understand each other better and be more tolerant of each other.

Of course, and a-hole is an a-hole, no matter what their sign.

I find myself looking at astrology as a way to understand and have more patience with people. This really helped me in my last job. I was able to get along with more people because I could understand why they were more prone to do certain things.

I ususally ask people their b-days when I meet them. (after I feel them out a bit. I have gotten a few bad reactions from people. The closeminded, such a waste at times huh?) If i get to know someone alot better I may push for the rest of their birth info.

I find it's a good way of dealing with people and learning more about astrology at the same time. (you mean there's more to astrology then signs and planets? lol) I can't say it has bitten me in the butt yet but like i said I only look at basics until i get to know them alot better.

Tanae~ Hey you

Welcome to Linda-Land!

Yes, I know exactly what you mean!! There's always the risk of becoming an "astrological bigot" if you're not careful, lol.

Btw, just noticed that you, AcousticGod, & I all seem to have some pretty similar astrological placements.

We all have Virgo/Cap suns, Virgo/Cap moons, and Air risings.

GLLF

Asc: Aquarius
Sun: Capricorn
Moon: Virgo

Tanae,

I think this is a danger if you believe that astrology is about a "fated" answer and, if you understand astrology you will understand what will happen in your own and everybody else's life. But if you are open to astrology as a description of energies we have and how those energies interact with others, with each of us deciding how to use our own energies best for ourselves, then astrology can be very empowering for us and we can help those around us develop their power through our astrological knowledge.

Long-windedly,

Tim

I think one of the pitfalls might be some of those positive energies never materialising. Let's say you have met someone, got a little bit excited... Would you feel any different if your synastry (and/or composite)with this person whom you don't really know is great or discordant?

I'm pretty new to Astrology, and I am definitely learning as I go, so much thanks to all of you for the replies!!!

Acoustiic God, from the chart I constructed my degrees are:

Asc: 17 degrees Libra
Sun: 22 degrees Virgo
Moon: 27 degrees Capricorn

Wilsontc, the link you gave is GREAT!!! I've been reading Joanna Woolfolks "The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need" and its been helpful to me in interpreting my chart.

Most appreciative,

Tanae'

yooooo,.,.
im new here
i have a similar thing going on with AcOuStIc God and with u, TaNaE
My sunZ CaPRIc0rn 18'
Mo0n in CaPRicorn 5'
Asc/Libra 1'
so maybe asc is virgo. i think its the actual change between virgo and libra personally.
i feel 'cursed' by astrology too.. theres certian signs/ aspects i have had bad experiences with that i am reluctant to get involved with now.. i have issues dealing with Taureans, Leos, Aries especially but have had friendships with these signs in the past before i knew anything about astrology. I feel like i judge people more now and can ususally guess what sun sign someone is before i am told. so it is a tool, like that. Maybe aries, taurus and leo could just natually grate a capricorn.

I wouldn't call it a curse unless someone becomes so fanatical with Astrology that they begin to base their life on astro transits and people's sun signs.

My good friend, a Capricorn / Leo rising asked if I felt there were environmental aspects that could influence and person's traits. I said "ABSOLUTELY"!! It depends on where the person was born, their family influence and their social mores.

I likened an astro chart to the blue-print of a house. A person knows where the pipes, walls, appliances will go - they may even know the entire layout of the house BUT... what is not known is how that person will decorate the inside, what kind of colors will be used on the walls, what about the landscaping or the painting on the exterior walls.

Free will... it can change everything

Tanae,

You said:

quote:
Wilsontc, the link you gave is GREAT!!!...My chart seems to basically say, that at this moment, I'm not living up to the full potential that my life may have in store for me

I am pleased that the link is helpful to you! And, now that you know that you have more "potential" to you, perhaps you might want to use astrology to find out what exactly that "potential" is and then begin using it!

Here is a sliver of sunshine: You have Jupiter (expansion, also opportunity) conjunct (energy is combined with) Descendant (others), so you may find your opportunities through others around you.

Astronomically yours,

Tim

Thanks sooo much Wilsontc!!!

I did interpret from my chart that my success and/or financial gain is to come through partnership and/or marriage, but could you tell me what you know about planets that are in mutual reception?

I read that they argur strength and luck in a birth chart... For me they are Moon in Capricorn in the 4th House and Saturn in Cancer in the 10th House.

Tanae,

Mutual receptions are "exchanges" of planetary energy. The "astro-sentence" (see Step 5 in the link below) makes this clear. In the example you gave:

Capricorn (duty) modifies Moon (home)
Cancer (home) modifies Saturn (duty)

Notice how each "exchanges" energy with each other:
duty --> home
home --> duty

So BOTH home and duty are emphasized in this chart and home and duty re-emphasize each other: energy given to duty becomes energy given to home becomes energy given to duty becomes energy given to home becomes energy given to duty becomes energy given to home becomes energy given to duty...are you dizzy yet?

Receptively,

Tim

Tanae -

As for being cursed by astrology, I DO understand your question and I've thought about this A LOT TOO over many years !!

To me, there's a way to deal with it internally within yourself, and there's also a way to frame it within a larger historical picture.

When you feel this sense of "curse", perhaps because you feel like you've looked through a peephole and saw something you're not sure you should have seen ... why do you think that is? Do you think it's a universal human challenge when it comes to questioning the unknown? Is it lonely to feel like you may be the only one out in leftfield who knows what you know?

Then there's the bigger picture, basically I mean, a transcendence from Polytheism to a one God union. When the volcano erupts, you try to appease the "god of volcano". When lightening strikes, you try to appease the "god of lightening", etc. It's not the volcano or the lightening which is in itself good or bad, but how they shape us as human beings.

If someone had a disease or damaged body parts, they might have eliminated them from society all together by killing them off because they may have been a burden or an embarrassment. They started cutting in the brain to see what would happen LONG AGO. But is the brain to blame?

Eventually, all these things come to an apex. There's a constant feeling of dissatisfaction in our lives motivating us to understand what our own role is among all this fear and destruction. There's the "one", the "center" of us, one God which is entitled to adopt all these compartmentalized parts of us into one cohesive form.

What you do with it is up to you. If you open my skull and look at my brain, are you really looking at me?

Some people are jugglers and quite good at it. Some of us juggle and drop everything once in a while. Some don't want to juggle, and prefer to find that one main theme which runs through everything.

To me THAT'S the goal when attempting to understand and incorporate astrological knowledge in our lives. Don't know if that made any sense ...

We are constantly in the process of understanding ourselves. How astrology will eventually be incorporated into your life and how it takes form may never be something which can be predicted. How's THAT for a mind f*k?
