What are possible aspects in a natal chart which would cause a person to be volatile, have a bad temper and/or get angry easily?

In this case I am referring specifically to a Scorp I know, but with all my experience with them over the years, I have not ever met one who is so explosive and cannot keep his anger reigned in.

I know a Scorpio like this....he has such a bad temper. I think a lot of hard aspects involving Mars & Pluto will do it.... he has Sun square Mars, Sun conjunct Pluto, Venus square Mars, and Mars square Pluto.

I have an almost explosive temper....I have mars in aries square uranus in sag. Mars in the 3rd. Luckily for everyone else it doesn't come out very often. (my mars also squares saturn) People get to see snippets of it when I'm irritated and the whole avalanche comes when they really p*ss me off.

I have Sun Square Mars, Moon Square Mars, Mars Square Jupiter, and Mars Square Pluto and I get angered and irritated easily but it's more of a quiet form of anger....I don't know why it isn't explosive as it should be?
I have my Mars in Aquarius so I become detached or what?
My Sun's in Taurus and Moon and Pluto are in Scorpio.

Mars prominent in the chart.

Mars conjunct the sun.

Mars conjunct or squaring planets such as Uranus or Pluto.

Also mars squaring the moon or Venus makes for explosive personalities.

Hmmmmm...well he has Mars conjunct Pluto in Virgo (straddling the 1oth and 11th houses) as well as Uranus conjuncting Pluto in the 11th, although Mars does not conjunct Uranus. He also has Saturn opposite Uranus and Pluto...I'm not sure if this would have any additional effect.

It's weird to me because I have never met someone who becomes so instantly disagreeable and frustrated and angered by things that seem as though they should not merit the kind of reaction that they do.

I'm sure our synastry aspects have something to do with it since we have five double whammies, four of which are squares.

Thanks for all of your replies.

oh yes Mars/Pluto (opposition in my case), but he had it at 0 deg, and in a T-square with Jupiter..

So he was a bully(Mars/Pluto) throw in the planet of fun and expansion (Jupiter) and what you get a bully who thought it was fun to bully, and that the *bullied* were also having *fun* while being hassled by him.

The orbs are important as well. I’ve known a guy born 5 days before him who had that aspect within a larger orb and it didn’t play out anywhere near as much.

I would think that someone with a Moon Square Mars would be a likely candidate for someone who doesn't have control over their emotions, particularly anger.

I have that aspect - as well as Mars Square Uranus and Sun Square Pluto. But I don't usually get angry; at least I think.

I've got a volcano like temper... I boil for a looong time, but when I blow up I shock everyone..its very intense..

just recently I blew up at someone with a verbal attack... and after the explosion my anger was still visible. I was shaking uncontrollably...which shows that I've got a lot of pent up aggression, and when the aggression comes out, watch out...

Aspects/placements in my chart that contribute to my rarely shown, but intense anger:

Perhaps Mars opposite Ascendant
Moon opposite Mars
Mars square Saturn, Uranus, Neptune
Mars bi-quintile Pluto

Hi Love,
I have many of the same aspects of this person:

Mars conjunct Pluto in Virgo
Uranus conjunct Pluto
I actually have a stellium of Mars, Pluto, Jupiter and Uranus.
(Uranus is in Libra, all else in Virgo) -- also my tenth house running into my 11th.
I don't feel like I have an explosive temper, but in the past, I have encountered people who just seemed to set me off...... usually a boyfriend (haha). Are you dating or involved with this person?
I have matured a lot and rarely ever react that way anymore (having suffered the consequences of exploding) but 10 yrs ago..........now, that was a whole different story.

Mars opposite or square Uranus usually has a quick temper,

Mars square Pluto here and I work it off with sports but I am not that way with people thanks to my sixth house sun.

mysticaldream ~ I was dating/involved with this person but we recently ended things. We really liked each other but our ability to communicate when we disagreed was nil. Besides the astrology there was something that simply made it really difficult for me to relax around him in a trusting way. I couldn't trust that if we disagreed he would calmly listen to what I had to say and simply just...well, believe me. He was always assuming that my responses were bull-you-know-what. That was not only annoying but also detrimental to the trust factor, and then he would also get easily irritated and angry.

Like I said, I think that our synastry pointed our these issues, but the problem was that we (and I think he felt this way too)felt very compelled to be in each other's company and we very attracted to one another.

But at the end of the day, if I feel like a volcano is going to erupt and meaness is going to be directed my way because he cannot resolve something without losing control every time, then it's never going to work and so that was that. Done.

I have history of anger issues....I feel that it's all connected to my abuse by my parents..especially my mother. I also feel that my anger issues have to do with mistreatment by others because of my learning disabilities and my not fitting the male stereotype.

I have Sun,Mercury, and Venus in Scorpio as well as Moon quincunx Pluto

Moon conjunct Mars(I clashed with my mom a lot,she verbally/physically abused me,my mother has anger issues)

my retrograde Chiron in Aries in 8th can also indicate my anger issues and my wounds, pain involving physical abuse...it semisquares my Mars with 22 minutes of arc.
My Chiron squares Moon/Mercury midpoint with 14 minutes of arc,and that can indicates wounds, pain as well as being maverick involving my perceptions. That could play a part in my learning disabilities.
I have a planetary picture of Chiron = Mars = Moon/Mercury which an indicate a combination of communication, anger issues connected to pain, wounds.

Mars in Aquarius in 6th(I got angry a lot at work...I was in the navy...I lost my temper a lot with my navy coworkers who often treated me like I was stupid because of my learning disability issues)

Venus square Mars

I feel that it's mainly midpoints in my chart.

Ascendant square Mars/Pluto - '04
Mercury square Mars/Node - '09
Pluto square Sun/Mars midpoint - '14
Uranus oppose Mars/Saturn '13
Saturn oppose Mars/Ascendant - '27
Mars oppose Mercury/Saturn - '50
Sun semisquare Mars/Uranus - '15
Moon semisquare Mars/Midheaven - '23
Uranus sesquiquadrate Moon/Mars - '45

a lot of people who are abused, mistreated, and/or experienced trauma can have history of anger issues. Anger issues are common in Depression too. Irritability is a symptom mania, depression, and anxiety.

A psychiatrist asked me "Why are you so irritable?"

I told him "It's ignorant ass people that make me irritable"

It's true....ignorant ass people do make me irritable..children who called me "retard" when I was a child. I kicked a kid's lunch box and put a dent in it. I was in 2nd grade at the time. He called me "retard" I lost my temper and hit children for calling me "retard" when I was in special education. Words hurt like hell just as much as somebody hitting me. I do get very angry when somebody hits me. You come at me with anger, and I can get angry. I am very responsive to feelings. You feel a certain way,and I will too. Therefore, negative emotions can easily be absorbed by me. I am very reactive to people. It could be part of my neurodivergent issues too. a lot of neurodivergent people are prone to emotional melt downs.

Words that can easily make me angry are "stupid" or any other word that's related to stupid..especially "retard", "nigger" because I am part Black". I get angry with ethnic stereotyping. I even got extremely angry with a black dude who said that white women only get with black men because of sex and he implied the same about my mother. I totally lost it. Other words that anger me are "faggot" or "fag" because I don't fit the male stereotype and ignorant people think that I am gay because of that not when I am not. Of course,I get angry with gender stereotyping. Psychiatric misdiagnoses get on my nerves.
If you talk to me and treat me like I am stupid, I get easily angered.
If you judge me without knowing me, I can get angry.

Here is part of an essay that I wrote about Learning Disabilities mistaken for Bipolar.

It seems that a lot of learning disabled people can have many of the
Bipolar symptoms. It is not because they have a chemical imbalance. I
believe that they are reactions to experiences of being
misunderstood, ridiculed, frustrated, and rejected. They are human
beings with real feelings, and so they can be hurt like anybody else.
If the learning disabled person is highly sensitive, then he or she
can be deeply hurt. Maybe Bipolars would significantly decrease if
people were treated a lot better. I feel that there is a strong
connection between Bipolar and Learning Disabilities. I would call
it the Undesirably Special Syndrome. I am saying that out of
sarcasm. I am disgusted that people are getting unfairly labeled
because they are different from the norm. Normal doesn't mean
right. Normal is what the majority thinks is acceptable. Would you
blame a Pre-Civil Rights black kid for being
irritable,moody,aggressive,and oppositional? Would you blame
homosexual people to be that way in anti-gay society? Would you blame
a female to be that way in a society where females have no rights and
respect? Would you blame Christians to be that way in the days of
Emperor Nero? Would you blame Native Americans to be that way for
being minorities in their own native land? Would you blame Learning
Disabled people to be that way for being in a society that sees them
as retarded, lazy, and crazy? I say not just "No"....I say " Hell
No". We need to look at alternative explanations for why a person
has all these bipolar symptoms. Maybe ignorance can lead to mental
illness. I believe that it can in the learning disabled.

I don't like how psychiatrists are constantly changing their criteria and adding new stuff to mental disorders. For instance, I am reading stuff about how anxiety can be a symptom of mania.

with all these changes....how do they differentiate anxiety disorders, bipolar, and depressive disorders from each other???

I can totally understand getting angry at being called names or being judged and of course if someone hits you it's going to make you angry. I lived in an atmosphere of anger and violence for part of my childhood so I can understand how this absolutely has a huge effect on an individual.

The problem in my case was that I was not getting angry or being ignorant with this guy. We didn't always agree or understand each other and when I would ask for more clarification or, conversely, make a point which did not jive with his own opinion, he would get reactively angry. I was only trying to calmly communicate my own feelings and understand his feelings better.

I happen to think that in this case because I didn't get angry back at him sometimes and he was looking to release stuff I became the unwilling recipient of his angry energy.

I think anger can be a very healthy emotion and it needs to be expressed, but in a relationship two people should try to express it in a way that creates healing instead of alienation. All I felt during our disagreements was his rage. The worst part is that I truly did (and still do) feel compassion for the fact that his anger represented pain that he was feeling and I recognized the fact that he was trying to release it. But throwing it on me, as though our miscommunications were the true source of all that anger simply, in my opinion, made it impossible for us to really connect and move forward. I began to feel fear or anxiety whenever I wanted to express anything that I thought might get him going.

And that's not healthy.

Moon square Mars... Yep, I've read it and have it. I react out and can be cutting and abrasive when angry/hurt. I don't yell or show true rage but come across as mean with bluntness and critical remarks.

wow this is all a lot for a man to handle!

I know a few Scorpio suns and scorpio ascendants too, and both men and women are a tad controlling or dictator-like, especially if you are closely related to them. They expect people close to them to always do what they want.
