I have a 6H Aqua Mars, according to the birthtime on my birth certificate, using Placidus house system. It's *right* on the 6H cusp, within a degree:

6H cusp: 17 Aqua 15
Mars: 18 Aqua 08

It's conjunct NN at 15 Aqua 50, which falls in my 5H.

Here's the problem: I've never read an description of a 6H Mars that fit me very well. I *can* be a hard worker, and I can obsess over physical fitness, but I'm highly inconstant with those things. I'm not a work-oriented or career-oriented person much at all. In fact, I HATE work and jobs and workplaces and having to earn a paycheck. I'm a bit disinclined toward a solid work ethic - I can work hard, but I'd prefer not to. I just don't have that kind of motivation, since I don't get much satisfaction out of a "job well done."

In most some situations, I prefer to be very laid back on the job. I don't like taking my job home with me. I watch the clock and I do everything I can to be out of there when it's quitting time. I'm probably a somewhat lazy employee, to be honest. And I don't fuss over what my coworkers and collegues do unless it's effecting me directly.

The only thing that I've ever read that strikes me as on the nail about 6H is that I need periodic break from work, or I just get frazzled. But that may also due to being so Mercurial.

As for 5H Mars interps, these tend to fit me quite a bit better. I prefer play to work. I'm inordinately preoccupied with sex, and sexual/romantic attractions (even if I don't pursue relationships). I feel the need to say exactly what I'm thinking, so I tend to shoot my mouth off, and I can be a little too assertive at times. I prefer being around kids to adults. I put a lot of my energies into creative pursuits. I love physical activities - as along as it's for fun and play, and not work (then I want to sit on my a**). I'm a sore loser. I'm still very much an kid at heart (for better or worse), and self-discipline isn't something that comes easily for me. I'm 35, and I still feel like a 16 year old in many ways.

But that doesn't make astrological sense. If my planet's past the cusp and isn't retro, why is it manifesting like it's still in the prior house? Is it the NN that's "pulling" my mars toward it? Or is there something else going on here? Maybe my birthtime's close, but not quite right? Anyone have any ideas?

does your mars fall in the 5th house in equal house system?

Gemini,

I consider Mars being in BOTH houses, so the 5th house interpretation makes sense. I think of cusps as being like a doorway, which is the space between things. So a planet on the cusp is "in the door" and between the two houses.

Between houses,

Tim

Salisa - no, it doesn't. In fact, I think both my NN and Mars fall in the 6th in equal houses. Same thing with Koch.

I had wondered about the birth time being off because my mom remembers that I "interrupted the doctor's lunch" - meaning the doctor was in the middle of his lunch and then had to be called back. She said the doctor returned around 12:30 to delivery me. So she originally told me I was born between 1-2 PM. However, according to my birth certificate, the time was 12:10. Even if that's off by 5 minutes, my Mars easily falls in the 5H. Push the time forward a little later, and I also end up with a 9H Mercury instead of a 10H, adn my pluto is closer to my ASC, which also fits me better. Anyhow I know parents' memories are often wrong, but so can be attending nurses and clerks. Go fig.

Wilson - I had wondered about that. I tend to be rather conservative about cusps, because I hate to assume too much. I have been kicking this over for sometime, wondering if I just had a case fo 5th House Envy or something. But really the more I think about it, the less I am comfortable with saying my Mars is strictly a 6H Mars.

Thanks. That's a fairly simple resolution to this question.
