BUD,I wouldn't worry too much about it. This constellation in a natal chart tends to give one an "intelligent, strong, bold & adventurous nature, but a tendency to lying." I found that it is indicative of events affecting large numbers of people, when it is involved in major meterological phenomena, so I think it has less of an individual effect, but perhaps more in transits. Hope this helps, Sunshine IP: Logged |

You're welcome, BUD! It so happened that I was looking up Algol at the time I saw your post, cause I was worried that an asteroid in my chart might be conjuncting it too! Little bits of synchronicity!! Sunshine p.s. Algol is at 24' Taurus. Unless your Venus is within a degree of this fixed star, it doesn't even count as a conjunction, because they use a 1-degree orb for fixed stars... just so you know. IP: Logged |

No worries, BUD... it's all good.Apparently having a planet or sensitive point in your chart conjunct a fixed star isn't a big deal - this one brings you luck. I think that when it is a big deal, is when there is a major transit happening at that fixed star, then it might mean something at a larger level... like an event that affects a large number of people. And I'm sure it's not all that common anyways. Are you worried about your mom's DC being there too? It's alright as well - after all, it's just a house cusp that happens to be conjuncting Algol - this has got to be relatively common too, if you think about it. Now, Sirius, the dog - I think that's a lucky one to have on your MC. I'll have to check for you when I get home this evening & get to the Favorites on my laptop. My computer at work's been nutso this week - the hard drive crashed, and it's taking me hours & hours to restore it after the technician put in a new hard drive, and it's barely a MONTH old!! Clearly this thread has nothing to do with the "Algol Paradox"; involving the sharing of gases (mass) between Binary stars...But Algol (aka Beta-Persei) is one of the most popular binary stars, because it's binary eclipses are actually visible here on Earth. IP: Logged |

I would never pay attention to stars in astrology. The nearest star to Earth (besides our Sun of course) is Proxima Centauri, which is a staggering 4.28 light-years away. Thats about 10^51 miles (thats 10 to the 51st power). To put that in context, 10^12 is 1 trillion miles. And 10^24 is a trillion-trillion miles. And so on. The Sun is only about 8 light-MINUTES away, and that is 93 million miles (1 AU). Considering this, you can imagine the distance of Proxima Centauri at 4.28 light-YEARS away. IP: Logged |

Yeah, as the story goes, "Algol" is a derivative of Arabic, indeed meaning "The Demon's Head". The constellation with which it is involved is mythologically associated with the severed head of Medusa. The "eclipsing" that Algol does around the larger star in its binary set was believed by the ancients to be the "winking eye" of the severed head of the demon (Medusa). Yup yup its fascinating really. At first i was really happy cuz it sounds cool but then some astrologers linked it to mass deaths and destruction and i was like ooh not goodIP: Logged |
