If you wanna go by what LG said, I believe that she gave that label to Pisces -
although I suppose it all depends on how you define "Power", doesn't it?

I think that honor belongs to Scorpio. It takes the fiery aggression of Mars and boils it tirelessly in Pluto's cauldron (I'm paraphrasing from a charming book I read by Caroline Casey - Making the Gods Work for You). Not to mention that it is a fixed sign, all of which are endowed with extra fortitude. Just my two cents worth.

Sincerely,
divinia

Well, I would say Pisces too, not because I am one, but considering it is the last sign of the zodiac. Perhaps Scorpio. Dunno. But then, Goodman did say in the Scorpio-Pisces chapter of Love Signs:

"The Scorpio is stronger, the Piscean weaker? No. It's the other way around."

But you know, you could say that all the signs are equally strong.

Hello Neerav
You can't just go off someone's Sun sign - the whole chart would need to be looked at...eg: Mars is how we go after what we want. So think of how the different Mars placements alone would affect someone's Sun sign...then add their Pluto into the mix etc etc...

So basically to answer your question no one Sun sign is more powerful than another.

Plus it depends what you mean by power.....
People can be powerful in many different ways.....
eg: Mother Theresa was a very powerful woman....but not in the monertary sense.

Actually I'm more interested in why you're asking the question As I read your post my first thought was I bet you have Pluto in your 2nd house (money, self worth) and I then checked your chart and you do. So if you'd like to share your thoughts and feelings re power and what it means to you I'd be very interested to hear them.

Define "Powerful", Archer.

Because Leos are pretty darn persuasive and influencial when they're at their best, but Scorpios can make mere mortals shiver in their boots with just a look, and Capricorns can turn a dust mite into something useful and lucrative if given free reign, and so on, you get the idea. So, as Cat said, each sign is "powerful" in one way or another.

(Hi, Cat ...haven't seen you around for a while. Where ya been?)

first going by good old physics !...
power = rate at which energy changes.
and then by psychology...
power = effective use of personal energy.

althout it feels to keep a gigantic ego and then know from various astrlogical works that the most poerful sign is not a fire sign, but then power is just one attriubute in astrology like energy in leo, force in aries and spirit in sagittarius.

i was always of the opinion that the lesser the circle of influence of an individual the more can he/she control. being sgittarius i've nothing to do with controling. instead for me the more the circle of influence the better life gets. i feel the only twoo signs conflicting in my mind for status of ultimate power are taurus and scorpio.

they both intentionally keep a limited circle of concern and influence. they both master it bit by bit. taurus uses left brain practicality and scorpio uses right brain imagination. and they both control using some single factor. wether individuals or circumstances. as for the other power to dominate or to rule or to be at the top, that is never sun sign based i think.
the most powerful man on earth right now...george bush...is a cnacerian.

so now u understand what i mean by power? controlled energy used in direction where the indiviudual wants to use.

otherwise all signs are equally [powerful.

Ha Corri --

Guess u and i got that one "sewed" up, both us being Pisces with Scorpio Asc. HAHA!!

FireyLeo -- I have a friend with a Leo Asc. We were at a restaurant once and we both needed "something" - here she is flailing her arms around trying to get the waiter's attention -- the waiter then came over to ME and ask what i needed. I thought she was gonna BLOW UP with indignation!! We did have a good laff tho, but i had to tell her that a "look" would have sufficed. LMAO!!

Very interesting thread. You have me curious about Pluto placements now. I have Pluto in Libra in the fourth house. Does that mean I have power in family or issues with family?

I have to agree that power cannot only be determined by the sun sign- there are many other placements to be considered.

Now, a question:

Are we talking about "Sun Signs" or the archetypes represented by each sign, the energies manifest w/ any sign but not present in purity or entirety in any individual?

My original comment was made w/ the latter in mind.

I was just about to make the point that proxi made cause everybody is saying Scorpio and perhaps, but I have yet to meet a Scorpio that doesn't want revenge for some perceived wrongdoing. Or one that isn't so sensitive that they end up taking things that you say "negatively" and sometimes attacking you in some sort of sarcastic way. I find that lack of perspective a tremendous weakness.

That is my personal experience.

Going by the qualities of the sign as I understand them to be at the present time: I would say probably Pisces or Libra- not because I am a Libra but because Libras are supposed to have the highest capability of judgement and therefore perspective (and vice versa), also they are in the stage (according to L.G.) of realizing that humans need each other, and that carries many implication, one of which: the ability to comunicate, which is paramount especially when it comes to power.
And my Pisces answer is obvious so I won't even go into that.

But, to echo Proxie: how do you define power?

i've already mentioned 'power in the form on control'. self control and then controlling once domain is perhaps the highest for of power. the circle of mental concern then matches the circle of mental influence.
as a sagittarian i feel if a sag is given self control even he would become a very powerful person like Joseph Stalin had become. but only scorpio and taurus has that ability inborn. incase there is a well placed jupiter in a scorpios chart then the results of his control would be global i guess. like bill gates (scorpio) has jupiter in leo.

this question is pointless. what is a power in one persons mind might be a weakness in another persons mind. it all depends, and anyway, everyone is going to try and say that whatever sign they are is the most powerful. hows this for power, i have scorpio in pluto in the 1st, and scorpio in saturn in the second. my taurus sun is in the 8th house which is ruled by scorpio, and my asc is in libra. i don't really know what it all means it just sounds overwhelming.

Yep, silverbells

My thing, too (and this isn't 'cause I've a Pisces Sun, I swear ), is that it seems like the last thing that the Piscean energy (notice I didn't say "Piscean person" necessarily) desires is power.
That lack of desire, of pursuit, in itself somehow seems quite powerful (although my limited capabilities can't say exactly how). At it's most pure, it seems like that energy is complete detachment coupled with complete oneness - that combination leading to greater power than even the Might of the Leo, the Fury of Aries, the Expansive Seeking of Sagitarrius, or the Overwhelming Unstoppable Transformation of Scorpio. Those energies all seem to seek Power in some form or another...and it seems like that seeking somehow weakens (although, again, while that statement seems right, while it sits with me perfectly, I can't say exactly why). It's like by striving for it, they somehow neglect the final power that Is, that is inherint in simply Being.

*shrugs*

I know that as far as I'm concerned, anyway, you can keep power as it's usually defined. I dislike leading (although in school, etc., it's always seemed like I've been put into those positions) and don't necessarily go for following, either. I dislike all of the trappings that go with influence.

Well if Taurus and Scorpio and Libra are so powerful, how is this:

8th house sun Gemini
Asc. Scorpio
7th house moon Taurus
Pluto in 11th in Libra

Plus a mystic rectangle including pluto, sun, uranus and mars (which happens to be in aries)

lol

I'm not a powerful person though!

I would also reiterate that as a Piscean Sun, i am not at all looking for worldly power. In my younger years, i was a true shrinking violet. Still, i prefer the background, not wanting attention drawn to me.

and GOSH ESULL -- these questions and comments are not pointless------ it's ALWAYS good to get peeps talking. In the end, we all see the power of others, maybe even recognize a little "power" in ourselves!! As for me, one of the most important issues of studying astrology was the acquiring of some self-esteem, of which i had none. I began to realize that there WAS some power in being good natured, accepting, and having spiritual integrity in a quiet way.

Pluto placements and all things 8 house are very telling of the inner strength. And what is more powerful than a fire sign's love of life? The "salt of the earth" dependability of our earth friends? The chatty high spirits of our air friends?

Seems to me in general the outer planets and their aspects will reveal undercurrents not immediately obvious. I also apply the Sabian Symbols for further nuance info.

Mercurial -- ahh -- Are you one who will fight like he11 for peace? hmmmm

Power in any form is not achieved by being stronger, or weaker. The strongest man in the world can be beaten by a weak and learned man, and vice versa, true power comes not from the strength, or lack of weaknesses. It comes from balancing your strengths against your weaknesses. True power is balance, the ability to understand your weaknesses and strengths and uses them together to maintain balance. The signs work in much the same way, they all have theirs strength, and weaknesses. No one is stronger or weaker than the others. They are in fact a delicate balance, if any one were to be removed chaos would ensue. The strengths of one serve to offest the weaknesses of another. much like the well known rock paper scissor children's game, it is a balance, each is defeated by another, but also can defeat others, and what one can defeat may be able to defeat that which you yourself are defeated by. and so it is important to maintain balance, only then can one be truely powerful.

I think Archer was equating "power" with absolute control over one's self and one's environment. That's the POWER he/she's speaking of, and in that respect, I would have to say it's a three way tie between Capricorn, Scorpio, and Taurus.

Notice also that these three signs are also found in high numbers among self made millionares.

What Proxie, this is ridiculous!!! What you said about power as far as the weakness that is inherent in power-seeking behaviour, is exactly the point that I wanted to make when I was talking about Scorpio in my last post! I didn't know how to say it though so I just skipped it.
We've been ridin the same wavelength man.

"I wanted to know which is the most powerful sign of all."

The balance between yin and yang.

"Astrological perspective please. avoid self perception!"

We incarnate into all the signs to learn how it is be BE. Learning that BEing emcompasses both Darkness and Light. We learn through many lessons that Living extends an extremely high light vibration that touches everything it encounters. Every Soul has a cycle it is completing in a variety of lessons. Until we master balance, we are powerless in the face what we are weak in. EveryOne has the ability to become the androgynous symbol of God/dess. The Zodiac is but one of many keys to examine vibrational paths that teaches us that powER is never "over" or "under" another, and always has the chance to "err."
