People keep emailing me about Reiki, since I said I had a Reiki treatment on my wrist. I can't type out a long answer for every person, so I thought I'd start a thread for it. If you know anything about it or another form of spiritual healing, would you please explain what it is and how it helps. There are many people here with a need for healing for various things, and maybe they'll find something here that will help them. Reiki has been wonderful for my wrist, but I don't want to damage the work done on it by typing too much! Thanks!

BTW, if you ever get a Reiki treatment, do NOT pay for it. If they want to charge you, find someone else!!

There is also Pranic healing.
We are all supposed to be composed of the physical, mental and ethereal energy bodies.
Diseases are supposed to be first manifested at the energy level, before affecting the body.
In pranic healing, the various chakras are cleaned and energised with different colours-depending on the disease.
The major element, used here is energy.

Hi Auriel,

The best way I can explain Reiki is to give you a link that does a good job of explaining it. These two sites should answer your questions or anybody else that is interested.

Here's a link I had to share. It's a place where you can learn Reiki from beginning to Master-teacher for free.

My massage therapist at my chiropractor's office does Reiki for free. Call around to massage therapist and chiropractors and find one into metaphysics and natural healing, and ask them if they know of someone who doesn't charge for it. Check your phone book for alternative health doctors, too. They may know of someone. Visualize meeting someone who will help you and it'll happen. They'll appear out of the blue when you least expect it, but you have to believe. I had to find a new one recently and was wondering where in the heck that would happen here. She appeared out of no where when I least expected her, and needed her most.

BTW, there are members here who practice Reiki and may be able to help with long-distance healing until you can find someone to give you a treatment in person. They have to come forward though. I'm not going to point them out!

I have to disagree with you on this one Aurial. People don't pay for the Reiki as such they are paying for the therapists time.

If I'm going to go for a Reiki Healing then I want to know that the therapist understands the energy they are working with. My colleague, who is a Reiki Master, always cleanses her room before a healing, placing protection symbols around, makes sure she cleanses her own energy, and no-one, but no-one is allowed in her room, other than her client, once that room has been cleansed.

When the client is on the couch, she calls in her angels and guides and those of her client's so that no negative energy passes between herself and the client and vice-versa. Once she begins healing she is then open to following her intuition and the help from the guides as to how long and where she spends time channelling the energy.

I would want to know that if someone is going to spend an hour in my energy field, working with my chakras that they have enough experience to pick up on the nuances and subtleties of the energy they are channelling for my benefit rather than detriment.

She also uses the same care when sending distance healing, using a witness (i.e. cushion or teddy bear) to feel how much healing needs to be sent and whether it can be five minutes of time or working over the teddy bear as in a full healing. She treats her craft with respect as well as the witnesses she uses.

So, if you want someone who only practises occassionally, then by all means find someone who treats for free. But if you want someone who wants to heal full-time and has to earn a living to be able to spend everyday working with energy then I would say pay them (You only get what you pay for). But ask questions first of how they operate and check as with anything else, their qualifications.

Love Gladeyes

Reiki is a form of healing that allows you to channelise energy through your palms into animals, humans and even inanimate objects. I tried it on the stereo system in my car quite a few times before I had the time to get it repaired - and it works like a charm!
Nephthys, if you would like distance healing, please let me know.

Gladeyes,

I understand what you're saying, and I'm not going to refute you, but I do disagree.

Reiki is the channelling of the universal life energy that is in everything and everyone. Reiki has been a part of my life for a few years and when I read Star Signs recently, I was struck by the similarities between Linda's teachings and my experience of Reiki...

The spiritual prinicples of Reiki:
Just for today I will let go of anger
Just for today I will let go of worry
Today I will count my many blessings
Today I will do my work honestly
Today I will be kind to every living creature.

Love to all

Dear Auriel,

I also disagree with you about the payments issue.

As Gladeyes said, you should consider the practitioner's time, and also the overhead expenses they incur in trying to set up the proper environment for healing.

Think of it this way ~ if you had a one-and-half hour massage, wouldn't you pay the masseur? Imagine a Reiki treatment like a massage, only with the energy flow added.

More reasons ~

[*1] Most people tend to take for granted that which they get for free. I k-NOW it is not so with the k-NOWflakes here ~ but it does happen in most of the world. In such cases, there is no inner commitment to getting healed.

For Reiki to work, an inner attitude of wanting to get healed should exist. Reiki does not go where it is not invited.

When someone pays for Reiki, they invest some part of them. They then become more committed to getting healed, and it brings good results with Reiki treatment.

[*2] When somebody does you a favor you can't return, you feel indebted to them. It is possible that over time, you may slowly develop resentment towards these people.

If a person receiving Reiki develops resentment towards the Reiki channel, it generates a negative karmic reaction, since Reiki channels are always under spiritual protection. So, it is sometimes in the interest of the person receiving the healing, that they not be indebted to the Reiki channel.

[*3] Reiki channels are human too. Like humans, they have the tendency to seek gratification, and they might not do eagerly something that doesn't bring gratification.

If someone is doing Reiki for another but not getting anything in return, they may stop liking it after some time. Then, they no longer remain committed to sincerely making the healing available. As a result, the 'healee' (the person receiving the healing) may not get sufficient benefits.

I hope that cleared up things a little. But do that wich your heart says. If you feel Reiki should be free, then by all means go to someone who offers it for free. As you once told me , there are no 'wrong' choices ~ only different roads to get to the same destination.

I was taught that Reiki is an exchange of energies between the receiver and the giver. The person receiving has to take responsibility to help themselves and the person giving is giving unconditional love for the higher good of the recipient.
I therefore believe that it is the exchange of energies and the intention of both the giver and receiver that is important rather than the issue of charging. For some people money can be a way to show that they value the energy received, or it provides an affirmation of their intent to heal. It need not be money ... I have been to a lovely festival in Wiltshire, where some healers, indeed quite a few of the people there, offer their services by donation only. You end up with a wonderful situation of people giving their love back in thanks, in many ways either by paying what they can afford or in a way special to them such as singing a song or telling a story.
Everyone and each circumstance is unique and as long both parties are comfortable with the exchange I believe that is all that matters.

Oh, ye of little faith! If one is truly a gifted Healer, it is that person's responsibility to share the gift with the world. True unselfish giving allows the Uni-verse to provide in a myriad of ways. Would you pay the minister of a church to pray for you? Linda said that's why churches pay the minister. There should be no transfer of money. I'm not saying a paid Reiki session doesn't work. Positive thinking always does some good. But one shouldn't overlook the many charlatans out there causing more harm than good. Some Reiki practitioners are sincere, but they just have a fundamental misunderstanding of Spiritual Law. They paid to learn Reiki (there should NEVER be a transfer of money between metaphysical teacher and student), so why shouldn't they charge others for healing? Sorry guys, but Spiritual healing is not MLM! This is Linda's site, and I make no apologies for upholding Linda's beliefs here.

You needn't 'apologize' Randall. We are always moving towards the same destiny, but the roads we take are different. One person's beliefs at any moment of time depend on the milestones along that person's road.

Eventually we will agree on this too ... but for the time being we can respectfully agree to disagree.

Got to rush now ... will write more later.
