was wondering...how accurate are psychics? i went to one a year ago that was pretty much spot on but she said the object of my desire was not the one for me & that she seen someone else out there for us. however after all this time i still have something with him like no other. when i have a good feeling about a psychic i've found them to be accurate...what are people's feelings on this?

It depends on the psychic. Many are just in it for the money and have no idea what they are talking about. Some have a "gift" for reading people which is based more on logic and common sense than psychic ability. Then you have the ones who are truly gifted with knowing certain things. If you ask me the person with the gift of reading people will probably get it more right on than a true psychic because the reader can do their thing at will, a psychic can only give what is given them at any particular time.

The ones who can mix the two are the most successful but the more in the public eye they are the more exaggarated their abilities are touted and they end up looking like ***** .

I would be weary of any psychic who is too definitive in their abilities.
Who leaves no room to be off the mark and charges a small fortune. These are the ones that tend to pray on desparate people, wheater or not they have ability to any extent or not.

I'd look for one that is unassuming and will tell you up front they can only tell you what they are receiving and leave it up to you how much you want to pay after the reading, without any pressure.

My opinion.

I worked in a metaphysical bookstore with anywhere from 5-6 psychics per day working with me, but 10 all together...Basically I got readings from every one of them. There was only one who was accurate. She definitely had the gift. The others were all more or less full of sht and a couple out of them were just plain phonies...I remember one reading, I was instructed not to cross my legs, to plant my feet on the floor and say my name 3 times before cutting the deck!!! yeah, right.

I agree that there are very intuitive people who can read situations and give really great advice, and I believe the majority of people who regularly visit psychics are looking for just that....great advice. There were so many "regulars" who would go from one psychic to the next searching for the answer they wanted, but not listening to anything else. The one psychic who told them what they wanted to hear was guaranteed regular pay as long as they kept saying what the client wanted to hear. Some of the regulars spent so much money everyday I often wondered how they managed to feed themselves. Readings can be very pricey.

But like I said, only one reading was ever correct or even remotely correct. She had the gift of vision. Some of the other psychics you really wanted to believe and maybe they believed they were truly psychic themselves, but the fact is that they were there to make a living. They might have hit the nail on the spot a few times, but that doesn't make them psychic.

Hi oceangirl,

interesting that you call the topic psychic accuracy

Im sure there are psychics out there...tho Ive never personally met one. I believe intuition and instincts are something else.

Zoso, that is an interesting environment to be working in...could you share some more of your experiences or stories there with the psychics.

Yeah, it was an interesting job, the owner was really mean and set up video cameras all over the place that she would watch from her gigantic house. I got my roommate a job there for a while. The owner called me up on the store's phone once to tell me to tell my roommate that the psychic's schedule sign was supposed to be right next to the bamboo walking sticks and to have her move it four inches over.

The psychics were really interesting, they each had their own talents. Some of them were mediums, others could do psychometry, most all read tarot and only one did astrology. The owner's husband was an astrologer, but he never came in or taught classes. Most of the psychics taught classes on random subjects, like angel guides and crossing over sessions.

What always happened were people coming in who were sceptical. They tried to "test" the psychics like they wanted to debunk them or something, which was irritating to the psychics. One psychic was a great medium and saw a young boy "ghost" in the middle of hte room once. She said when spirits are about to be conceived, they follow the mother around beforehand. She said she would notice them around certain people and she could tell the difference between a spirit who had already been somewhat on earth and one who hadn't yet recently. She said the ones who had been conceived before (such as miscarried or babies who lived a very short time after being born) were more dense and heavier than the newer spirits.

I have seen many psychics and am told by most of them I am very "open", so usually I find I get great guidance.

Was talking to a friend recently though and she agreed that some of them tend to project their own stuff on to their clients. So if the psychic is a little negative, then the messages they convey also can be too...

One has to be mindful of these things, I feel....

I've seen only one and Its kind of scary how accurate she was; she wasn't even randomly guessing. She told me things about myself that no one would even associate with me.

thanks for sharing zoso...SO interesting...

sue g...i agree!...that was the feeling i got with the psychic...i felt so much negativity, anger, unhappiness from her & most of what she told me was negative & that i had negative energy & that it was her obligation to tell me so...i do believe i have negative energy like all people do...but also believe my energy is much more positive...i'm just always skeptical of psychics & a little scared too...i always get them "drawn to me" like i'll be walking down the street & they come up to me & say they have important things to tell me & i just walk away.

A friend of mine got a reading done a few months ago.

Obviously the psychic was very unprofessional cos she told her she would be ill and that an ex of hers would have an accident!!!

My friend found out later on that the psychic was a hypochondriac and had suffered accidents in the past, which had affected her life deeply...

Interesting hey, and quite dangerous for anyone who is susceptible and any way sensitive...

Be careful guys..

My girlfriend has been going to this one psychic for years and she feels that she is getting some guidance and enlightment.

I went with her once, about 3 years ago. I wasn't sceptical or anything but I had to laugh when the psychic looked at the photos (part of the reading was on the photos of important people in your life) and first thought that my daughter was my sister, my boss was my husband and then said about my ex-husband, who was preoccupied with drugs and gambling at the time, "he is a good man, don't ever leave him"

She told me a bunch of other stuff too, something about buying commercial real estate, going back to school, working some place where I will wear uniform (??)and moving to Florida. None of it was even close.

Strangely, she did foresee one thing almost precisely. She said soon I will be going to the wedding of the young woman name Caroline. I didn't even know anyone with this name and haven't heard of any upcoming weddings. Turned out my brother-in-law's co-worker was getting married next week and they lost a DJ. I was able to find them a good DJ on a short notice and they invited us to the wedding as a "thank you". The bride's (whom I never seen or heard of in my life)name was Carol Anne.

Go figure

I would like to meet a psychic or get a reading from one.

Ive had tarot readings done a few times...but those are usually too vague. (One said things I wanted to hear...ironically I think she was the closest to being accurate.)

Ive had a coffee ground reading (she wasn't bad...right about a few things) and a palm reading before...and felt the same way about those too...vague.

Most things that have been predicted dont happen. Maybe I change things I dont like to hear from the readings before they take its course and happen.

Okay... nobody laugh... but I've just discovered cafeastrology's Love Oracle Alright, so when I started, obviously I was dubious about a computer selecting virtual cards for me when it couldn't possibly tell what I was thinking, but by God, it was consistant!! Don't know about it's accuracy but it stuck to it guns and I asked lots of questions and it actually gave me answers which related to my questions.

So yeah.... I want everyone when they can to try it and tell me whther thatwas all a fluke or not

As for real psychics... try tarot! That's surprisingly accurate.

OoooOoooo.... I'm worried now what it said is going to come true.... It's sort of right so far, or I can see what it said happening at least.... but I'm not sure whether to believe it cos it threw in the big "L" word... (Love.... not lesbian....).

Thanks for trying it Taurus80 and sue! I think I shall now conduct a larger scale survey.... If it's not too risky to test the powers of the supernatural???

....becomes slightly worried as x files music mysteriously filters the room...
