Awww... you all make me blush
Two years ago today....
That is when I met Bear. We went to the same Superbowl Charity party to raise money for underprivilaged children for Christmas. I walked in with my dish of Enchilada's and almost tripped over the crack in the floor just looking at him. I had to put my dish down and peek at him through one of the kitchen doors as he sat in the lounge waiting the SB game. My heart skipped a beat when an old friend introduced us. Maybe it was the fact that most of the people there have AARP cards and he was more my age and my style.. or maybe it was / is because he is a drop dead gorgeous Leo with oodles of Charisma? LOL..
Whatever it was.. I couldn't wait to talk to him. I sat next to him at a table with my other friends. One of the couples had brought this really lame guy, about my age, that was trying to hit on me. He was telling me about how many times his heart had been broken and how he would love to get to know me. All the time I am thinking "ewww... I am not for the faint of heart and DUDE.. can you please stay at least two feet away from me because I don't want that handsome guy behind me to think I'm with you!" LOL...
I caught Bear staring at me on his way back from the restroom. It was the beginning of the 2nd quarter, yet he had not tried to make any conversation with me. When I caught him, he looked away.. just barely.. THEN he did the most audacious Leo thing.. He looked me RIGHT in the eyes and kind of smiled.
Oh yeah.... I thought I was going to toss my cookies in a good way. Half time came and went, it was almost a blur. I won a few door prizes and every time I got up to accept them, there were those two beautiful blue-green eyes watching me. I felt self-conscious, nervous yet oddly thrilled. I wanted MORE.. and MORE.. LOL...
Fast forward... almost to the end of the 3rd quarter. Who played that year? Who cares? I have no idea.. I was too intrigued by this handsome man that kept looking at me but never said anything...
Finally... I build up the courage.. Think pidaua.. think... You're a smart Saggie with some good zingers, toss one at him and see what happens. Hmmm.... do I say 'Come here often?' or how about 'what's your sign?'
Nah.. I leaned back and said 'So, what are you all going to do after this?'
That was all it took... He turned he chair around, pulled it right up next to mine and said "Nothing.. what are you doing after this?" Little did I know that they had tentative plans to meet friends elsewhere. Little did I know that the man that is now my husband was also wondering how in the heck he was going to break the ice and get MY attention...
I won't bore you with all the details. It did come out that he is a Leo (and August one at that and my dearly departed August Leo grannie said to me "Find yourself an August Leo Sugar, he'll make you happy". She said that while I was unhappily married to a Virgo in 2001). Well, I did.. I found him or he found me.
Who know all it took was "So what are you doing after this"?
Since that line.. well, we've been together ever since, even though we've been separated while he was in Germany (before I got here) and while he was deployed to Iraq.
We married 6 months later. Completely Leo and Sag style. In Las Vegas. No family, no fuss, no muss.. just he and I (and some weird lady pastor with weird nails) LOL... It was the best wedding of my life. We acted like crazy tourists, we ate strawberries and drank $150 German Reisling wine.
Two years ago today I met the man of my dreams...
50 years from today.... I'll be loving him even more.
