Which love stories call to you? Which movies seem to tell the story of a past love, present love, or the love you long for? Which movies have heroines or heroes that you identify with or who share personality/astrological traits with your lover or crush? (Share your Sun, Moon and AC signs if you don't mind.)

Are there any quotes or pieces of dialog that "say it all"?

I looooooooooove Something's Gotta Give!
The others are probably good too, but I was so excited you said that one.

I watched Bed of Roses for the second time last night. I didn't like it when I first went to see it at the movie theater a decade ago and I thought it might have been the situation and I would see it with new eyes now... but eh... just doesn't really resonate with me like others do.

Well, I would say that the movie that best reflects my past relationships is "Good Luck Chuck"... all my exes have married the person they began seeing right after me... go figure!

One of my favorite lines would be by Angelina Jolie's character Joan in "Playing By Heart"

I just said, 'Well, if you're going to get all philosophical on me, it's just as pointless talking about a lot of things, love for instance.' and he said, 'Definitely! Most definitely! Talking about love is like dancing about architecture.

It's just stuck with me...

Mama Mia I definitely think of Jack as a Scorpio in all of his movies, but I was thinking STRONG Aquarian and Sag vibe in that one (in addition to the whole Capricorn "age" thing for both of them). I thought Diane's character was a Cap woman. I identified with her strongly (my moon and AC in Cap).

Jack's "As Good As it Gets" has also grown on me over time. I just love him.

ghanima, I LOVE your response. I'm not familiar with that one, but that was just what I was looking for. I like so many "classics" and so many resonate... I wonder if they all resonate to everyone or if just a few of the classics resonate and some other "outskirt" flicks that not everyone has seen are more prominent for others.

I almost started this thread with "You've Got Mail" for example, because I thought that might be one that everyone could identify with... but I wonder how strongly.

Heeeeeey, we should put our astrological top 3 down next to our choices. I'll go edit the top post to include that suggestion.

Its in French with subtitles, but I found this trailer in English:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Tsg_dVhNi4

Adele, a 22-year-old with a history of bad luck and abusive relationships with men, is contemplating suicide on the edge of a bridge when she encounters Gabor, a professional knife thrower who just happens to be "hiring." He senses that she would make a wonderful new target and offers her the job. She rejects the offer and jumps. He jumps after her and soon the pair are off to Monaco where she suddenly her luck changes dramatically -- not only does she remain unscathed as the target of his now famous "blindfolded throws" but her bets at the roulette table wins her a small fortune. But how long will their luck hold?

Girl on the Bridge is an absorbing piece of film fiction and, to my mind, an instant classic. From the choice of its stars to the use of a gritty, many shaded black to white spectrum, it is a spellbinding expression of director, Patrice Leconte's, mastery of the art of filmmaking. Every throw of the knife notches up the suspense to an ecstasy of fear on behalf of the characters you come to love. This is an unusual romance that leaves the viewer enlightened and lighthearted without any sacrifice of reality.

The Girl is portrayed by Vanessa Paradis, who, in her person and in her manner, invokes memories of both Brigitte Bardot and Audrey Hepburn, a radiant, sensuous mix that is haunting and captivating. There's rapturous innocence despite her frequent and intense sexual encounters, and some part of her remains pristine throughout the most seemingly perverse scenes. Seduction for her must be emotional and intellectual, not merely sexual, because her body is routinely given, and through her experiences, we realize its satisfactions do not ultimately satisfy.

Although some scenes recall other great pictures of yesteryear, such as The Seventh Veil, Girl makes new, inspired use of beloved film moments to make its own statement: the human spirit deepens and expands to the extent to which it trusts in, and is dedicated to, love. To love is to risk, and in this film of heart thumping suspense, we come face to face with the dangers love entails. Love, like this film, is not for the faint of heart. I, for one, am looking forward to my second time. Many compliments to Patrice Leconte and his wonderful collaborators!

Adele and Gabor are Twin Flames.

Girl on a bridge is fabulous. Vanessa Paradis is an amazing actress.
If you like French films 5x2 (cinq fois deux)is a relationship told in reverse.
But my ultimate relationship movie is Roman Polanskis "Bitter Moon"
It completely blew me away the first time I saw it (1992) and it still does.
Oh the complexities of relationships. So cleverly told in that film.

Well i LOVE movies so for me is very hard to pick them and choose! (libra rising here with Virgo Sun and Taurus Moon)

To tell the story of a present love i have to choose the "~You got Mail" - me and Jonnhy met through the internet, and he felt for me as he saw my pic on a site. I also fell in love right after see his picture too.

The more time passes by the more we love each other.

CITY OF ANGELS - There lyes the heroe,Seth with his big doggy eyes.

Favorite pieces of the Film:

Seth: Close your eyes. Just for a second... what am I doing?
Maggie: You're... touching me.
Seth: How do you know?
Maggie: Because, I feel it.
Seth: You should trust that. You don't trust it enough

Favorite Scenes:

- The one Seth chooses to "Fall"

- The one Seth is eating the apple after Maggie´s death ... ...cause of this piece:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seth: What's that like? What's it taste like? Describe it like Hemingway.
Maggie Rice: Well, it tastes like a pear. You don't know what a pear tastes like?
Seth: I don't know what a pear tastes like to you.
Maggie Rice: Sweet, juicy, soft on your tongue, grainy like a sugary sand that dissolves in your mouth. How's that?
Seth: It's perfect

Seth: I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it. One.

I have nothing more to say ..

Thanks Trees, looks interesting. I have to be in the mood for a subtitle movie but I'll probably pick that one up someday. I usually watch a movie when I'm not in the mood to read and I really like sitting back and becoming immersed in the movie which I find more difficult when I have to shift my eyes back and forth from the text to the scene. Maybe I'm just lazy.

bunnies, I will be checking for Bitter Moon.

French Kiss grew on me after a few views...
Sweet November is almost perfect.
Serendipity I don't remember but something tells me I watched it and loved it.
Sleepless is another classic I love.
Eternal Sunshine was really good but I've only seen it once. I'd like to watch it again sometime.

City of Angels is absolutely one of my very favorite classics.

My favorite romantic movies are...

Moulin Rouge
The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.

Satine: A little supper? Maybe some champagne?
Christian: I'd rather, um, just get it over and done with.
Satine: Hmph. Oh. Very well. Then why don't you come down here and let's get it over and done with.
Christian: I prefer to do it standing.
Satine: Oh.
[starts to stand]
Christian: You don't have to stand, I mean. It's sometimes that... It's quite long and I'd like you to be comfortable. It's quite modern what I do and it may feel a little strange at first, but I think, if you're open, then you might enjoy it.
Satine: I'm sure I will...

Included this just b/c I love that scene.

Amelie
Raymond Dufayel aka Glass Man: Is she in love with him?
Amélie: Yes.
Raymond Dufayel aka Glass Man: The time has come for her to take some real risks.
Amélie: Well yes, she's thinking about it. She's thinking of a stratagem.
Raymond Dufayel aka Glass Man: Yes, she likes stratagems, doesn't she?
Amélie: Yes.
Raymond Dufayel aka Glass Man: She's a bit of a coward. That's why I have trouble with her eyes.

writesomething - I love K Kline too. I had a huge crush on him when "Dave" was out.

Amelie: "Does he have a girlfriend?"

Eva:"No. He never keeps them long. Times are hard for dreamers"

I liked Scissor when it first came out like any self-respecting young girl would... but Depp didn't deeply call to me, (I liked the character though). (Ok, Depp, I like Jack Sparrow...) (some sort of issues with being attracted to dark, drunken...? uhh... nah, it's because he's witty and has long hair hehe)

I love Bridges too... beautiful.

Ok, girls, rented Ameile this weekend and I'm going to watch it today. Thanks for the rec!

Also... Intolerable Cruelty. Witty, crass, hilarious! I've always had a yearning for an equal like CZJ and GC's characters have found in each other in this flick...

Marylin Rexroth: What was your performance about this afternoon?
Miles Massey: What did your lawyer say?
Marylin Rexroth: Freddy, thinks you're a buffoon. He says you've been too successful. You're bored, complacent and you're on your way down.
Miles Massey: But you don't think so.
Marylin Rexroth: How do you know?
Miles Massey: Why would you be here?
Marylin Rexroth: Why did you ask me?
Miles Massey: Can't I be curious?
Marylin Rexroth: About what?
Miles Massey: Do you ever answer a question?
Marylin Rexroth: Do you?
Miles Massey: [changing the subject, to the waiter] I'll have the tournedos of beef. The lady will have the same. Thank you.
Miles Massey: [after ordering food for both of them] I assume you're a carnivore.
Marylin Rexroth: [laughing] Oh, Mr. Massey. You have *no* *idea*.

LOVE IT!!

And if you've never seen Paris When It Sizzles with Audrey Hepburn and William Holden, rent it!! Better yet, BUY IT! Amazing dialogue, the pace and tempo of this film are whirlwind and like nothing they make today!!

Richard: [knock on door] Yes?
Gabrielle: Mr. Benson?
Richard: You are, I assume, the young lady from the typing bureau?
Gabrielle: I am.
Richard: In that case, if we are to have a happy and harmonious relationship, I beg of you, never answer a question with a question. Is that clear?
Gabrielle: Did I?
Richard: There you go again, answering a question with a question. My original yes when you opened the door was a question, question mark implied of course. You do know the difference between implied and inferred?
Gabrielle: Isn't that a question?
Richard: [pauses] Yes.
Gabrielle: Well, you just answered my question with a question. To imply to indicate without saying openly or directly, to infer is to conclude from something known or assumed.
