I have often said that I am alot to handle, very independent, financially, emotionally, etc...and I have been told that I am intimidating to "men."

Now, I am fifty, but I have been messing around with the same subject for ever, it seems.

So, what do men really "want" in a woman, not that I will ever change, but I am curious.

Could a woman be "too much to handle?"

Do men prefer to be the stronger one?

Could men feel intimidated by my "personal power", financial independence, etc, or is it just a cop out?

I am about done with this "relationship" thing.

Not met one yet that has been able to meet me in a match...

sigh......

(or perhaps just a Scorpio Rising? )

I don't know, but I had several boys back in my dating days tell me that I was "too strong" or "too independent" - the funny thing beig that I don't feel that away at all.
I feel like a big, watery push-over.

My husband says that it probably would have taken him forever to work up to asking me out (I pursued him) and that I'm quite intimidating.

Unfortunately, there are men out there who find independent and assertive women intimidating.

And those who claim to like a woman who can stand her ground but the minute she does (with them) it's an issue.
Why don't they just say, "Be assertive with everyone else but me."

Who knows what men really want. Just don't change who you are. I did that in my last relationship to avoid conflict but it was his issue he was projecting onto me - not mine.

That's usually the case when you suppress your thoughts or emotion.

And they say women are complicated?

I am absolutely enthralled by strong women. I associate myself with strong women only. I married one of them.

Only insecure men find assertive confident women intimidating. Any guy with a strong sense of self would want those traits in a girl.

Sure there are the traditional - 'women belong in the kitchen' groups of people, but lots of DECENT accomplished men don't want a simpering or demure chick.

She wanted badly to go to the Naval Academy, and was accepted, except that she couldn't pass the medical eligibility because of family medical history. She wanted to be a naval aviator.
