Bhagavad Gita purport 13.12
"False ego means accepting this body as oneself. When one understands that he is not his body and is spirit soul, he comes to his real ego. Ego is there. False ego is condemned, but not real ego. In the Vedic literature (Bṛhad-āraṇyaka Upaniṣad 1.4.10) it is said, ahaḿ brahmāsmi: I am Brahman, I am spirit. This "I am," the sense of self, also exists in the liberated stage of self-realization. This sense of "I am" is ego, but when the sense of "I am" is applied to this false body it is false ego. When the sense of self is applied to reality, that is real ego. There are some philosophers who say we should give up our ego, but we cannot give up our ego, because ego means identity. We ought, of course, to give up the false identification with the body."

Ive been furiously studing Vedic literature lately in connection with my indian life line that I have retrieved and this information resonated deeply...it gave me a headache actually around my 3rd Eye... it resonates with truth and I wanted to share it...and discuss it if anyone is open to.

I for one totally agree with this...and have just underwent a huge transformation...and am learning to stabilize in a new paradigm..free of dualities and judgement. One that pays attention to detail. I now feel the gift that my Virgo Ascendant and NN bestow, humans have failed with previous Earth projects because we were unable to let go of judgement and pay attention to details (live fully in the moment as it were.

But in this process my dreams have been instucting me in the seperation of the My from the I by time traveling to different situations Ive experienced and observing them instead of "doing" them ...It is not easy learning to be the observer and not the doer...but that was a previous path of ascension I have embarked on in previsous lives and can pull back.....but in the process I have learned that Self realization is the path and not necessarily this idea of Ego death that I notice the Vedic teachings are so heavily endowed with.

Gnani Purush's rantings of stict control of all the senses and complete destruction of the Ego..saying it is a vile servant and a source of Suffering and Evil...and this practice of brahmacharya even as it stems to all religions resonates to much with a partriarchal view of society for me. And is an attempt at control as though are the Doer.
Then you have Shankara's saying the ego is a "strong and deadly serpent".
The Tibetan way of celibacy and self discipline to break the Ego...and the Muhammads war against nafs.
Clearly not paths of self acceptance and yet we have incarnated from cycles of living lives that we now carry those imprints from.

The idea of self realization and acceptance has always been around for decades now... but whats interesting is that this fact is finding its way into the path of Awareness and not just Esoteric teachings that have enlightment as there goal.
What role does self acceptance play in the path to liberation.
I say it is the path...not Ego death, which is impossible anyway...in Gnostic teachings Ego is connected to Soul...and our Inner God to Spirit.

What say you on this hot topic?

Oh my God, my mind is boggling with your mind spin. No wonder your third eye went crazy this is heavy stuff. Can you share in simple layman terms that is with the assumption that one has no knowledge of the hot topic and break down awareness and acceptance of ego with religion. What is the main thing that all religions have in common maybe is a good place to start. I have never been blasted with so much mind boggling information before and need to reload my mind again.
thanks sweetie

thank you, ORBM,

I shall keep this one too.

It was always my understanding that we needed the ego despite current disparagement.

Awww...you guys are too cute...I dont know where this stuff is coming from. The deeper down the rabbit hole I go..the harder it is to give words to what I see..you know?

"Can you share in simple layman terms that is with the assumption that one has no knowledge of the hot topic and break down awareness and acceptance of ego with religion. What is the main thing that all religions have in common maybe is a good place to start."

Well here is the thing Saronna. We all have choices.

Consider self acceptance...what does it mean to accept self.
First we must define what the "self" is..

In my opinion we are Spiritual beings temporarily residing in a physical body manintained by an Astral(Etheric) body, a causal body, a mental body and an emotional body and a succession of elements that are constantly undergoing a process of refinement that is quite beyond our ability to adequately describe.
Our DNA is the "glue" that attaches our Physical body's cells to the Light Energies of Spiritual substance.
It is the whole principle behind the Chakric System and learning how it works.

To me the DNA is the blue print of our Souls Energy...and our job is to understand the blue print we have projected ....how do we do that?

By taking the path of self acceptance. Or the Akram path...as opposed to the Kramic path as we have endured so many lives.

There has to be within us an intense desire to know how and what has happened to our avatars from 0-18 years, ...particularly years 0-4 that molded and formed this avatar (Soul) that you are residing for this lifetime.

You see the Soul is constantly involved in a struggle between Spirit and the Flesh (carnal tendencies).
It ends up being a renewed mind vs tendencies type thing.
So its our job once we come awareness of being in this body is to go deep within and allow the Body to seperate from the Soul....and attach to the Spirit and ascend..we do this by connecting to our inner Spirit or inherent understanding of all that is around us.
This is the beginning of self acceptance and awakening...seeing yourself from a 3rd person viewpoint...the knower instead of the known...the observer instead of the observed.
These experiences everything you have been through as Jane, Kathy or Steve...or whatever you have chosen as a name this time, are a projection of your Energy...that Energy is the Real you, so by learning about who you incarnated as this time and why you incarnated this way you can bring the Soul from the Body, the my from the I. Soul comes from the word Psyche which is a combination of faculties that consist of the mind, intellect, will and emotions. Your seat of motivation while in this lower state of matter as it were.
It mediates between our Body and Spirit.
You are moving into a thinking ability in which you do not have knowledge of who you are, but just that you are...because you identify with nothing.
You as a Spirit do not exist in duality or time.
Therefore the Body cannot come into Union with the Spirit until the Ego has been trained properly to interact with the higher level Energy, otherwise the Ego is abusive to the Spirit at attempts to tear her down as it were. So Spirit can only housed by a living Body that resonates to a frequency that can house it. The temple must be clean as it were. As long as the Body associates with the Soul it stays in lower based emotions and cannot be cleansed properly in this state.
But consider this Energy, consider you...the Real you....
I ask you this?

Can you control your health?
Can you control love?

Can you control anything in this 3D? Or are you at the mercy of her Karmic lessons?

What is the opposite of control?

Well it is trust isnt it? When you trust you stop trying to control...and when you stop strying to control you alleviate alot of your suffering and your pain.

Why? Well consider that you are not your successes and you are not your failures. The Avatar you were born into has a chart that it is attached to. And that Natal Chart gives you a clear cut, precise idea of the issues that the Soul is facing based on how the Energy that animates it materializes in the physical.

So all the things you see happening around you is part of the My...my life...my car, my child, my dog...my love, my happiness...
But this is sad because YOU own nothing...YOU as a Spirit do not get hungry...YOU as a Spirit do not eat...the Soul you have chose to inhabit does.

You see the state of "I" in the correct place as the knower or Observer...and the known is like file one of a long list of files we have existed as.

Ok to break it down more...I chose the name Darius this time around.
I have lived 31 years of my life...thinking that I am Darius...but in reality I am not. Darius is file #1 in a since that right now he is the Body and Soul I am inhabiting. This Body and Soul was formed as a projection of my Spirit or Causal body.

Do you see how this takes you above the tendencies of the Mind.

Now is a good time to discuss the acceptance of Ego with Religion.
Why do we worry so about the future...about the past...why is it so hard for us to stay in the now.
This is not a new idea..the thought of living in the moment. It is an inclusive, positive approach, and to me, it is living what IS real. Is it good or bad? Does it benefit or harm? It just is!

On one level we have the illusion that there is an ego; on another level there is no ego. It is the same with self-acceptance. Self-acceptance is still a movement away from what is. At a certain level of realization, there is no self; therefore, self-acceptance does not exist.

We think we can accept or not accept, but the fact is: Existence is existence and we can either say yes or no to it. With "no" we go into the mind and conditioning, whether it is Christian conditioning or the new waves of Eastern influence. But when we live a total, unconditional "yes" to what is happening, we evolve.

Gosh sorry I ramble so in these things...i will stop now Saronna...would love to hear what you think of this...I tried to be a little less cryptic.. ...xo

Yes. Sorry, I don't have time to read your last post, but seeing as the Gita touched you so deeply, it's only natural that the Upanishads are in your future. You can google what they are. And although anyone can read them, they are "closed" to some until the time is right....

Lots of Love and protective blessings.
Many out there with huge egos will try and put out your light.
Keep the faith and remember what is true. Thanks for starting this thread.

RuledByMars....I am at a loss for words on how deeply your words spoke to me...It instantly resonated with me...but will have to chew on it a little more and add my current life experience and changes I am going through regarding relgion. It takes a strong person to look at oneself from a 3rd person perspective. The base of all my conflict in life arises from this struggle to 'be' who I am internally verses life's influences. Thanks for sharing.

Aww you guys are so cute...Charmaine you are making me blush.

Wow I was in the bows of transformation writing this. Shedding that whole view of the Ego as bad was huge thing for me...as Ive lived many lifelines attempting to completely irradicate it from my life.

It was nice to connect with those lives and heal them.

Im curious Saronna...has this topic started to make more sense for you?

JupiterRain...what kind words. Your welcome please share with us any new thoughts that come to light on this matter as you continue through your changes.

Please know,

You, can not, kill the ego, No matter how "zen" you are.

I know, that it is vulgar to say this, But you may as well put a .45 in your mouth, and pull the trigger.

Killing the ego, Is the same idea.

-The trick is to forget about it-

Just a matter of time at that point, It varies, person to person.

"Exactly... suppressing it is the only choice i guess.. "

It is useful to know how to "supress" it when you need to, But that is not a "Lasting" condition.

Old wise people used to say, Make a friend out of it.

Understand the concept, You are have way there.

The problem is in, The negative ideas you are using.

It is helpful to know the negative side, But it is not healthy to stay for too long.
