I got rejected by a good friend whom I've had a sort of "thing" with for a looong time. It feels like there are lead bricks in my stomach. No one saw it coming...at all...

Been there. I know how it feels.

------------------
"Life is like a box of crayons. Most people are the 8-color boxes, but what you're really looking for are the 64-color boxes with the sharpeners on the back. I fancy myself to be a 64-color box, though I've got a few missing. It's okay though, because I've got some more vibrant colors like periwinkle at my disposal. I have a bit of a problem though in that I can only meet the 8-color boxes. Does anyone else have that problem? I mean there are so many different colors of life, of feeling, of articulation...so when I meet someone who's an 8-color type...I'm like, 'hey girl, magenta!' and she's like, 'oh, you mean purple!' and she goes off on her purple thing, and I'm like, 'no - I want magenta!'"

she's pregnant,
he really likes you,
but he's obligated to deal with this!

..you probably shouldn't tell him
you know!
..try to be supportive and understanding...
let him open up to you...he's overwhelmed..

Just be his friend and see how it develops.

Sorry to hear, CS.

However, if he is having problems/issues with another girl then it's best if he sorts that out first.

That's why I'm backing off and letting him do what he needs to for a bit. I hope this stuff with him clears up soon, it's taken a heavy toll on him

I sure hope so Randall, he's ridiculously good at hiding his feelings so I will never know.

As I'm already ranting, I'll rant some more

His best friends (who don't know me) found out and told him he was stupid for saying no...and he sort of agreed. Then he affirmed that it was the right decision. Pfooey

He told me the best friend thing, the rest was directed at me in a conversation.

I have decided to do daily rants about the situation on this thread as an outlet No such rants today, but maybe tomorrow.

Rant of the day:

I am a desperate girl who is completely unwilling to accept the fact that the extremely strong feeling he had for me last year have disappeared. This getting-over process is long and distracting. I don't like being in denial

That's a sure-fire sign he's into you. The playful teasing is the highest form of complimenting. Try withdrawing it for a bit, and he will come around fast.

Oh Randall, once again you make me blush

The flirting and compliments came after I withdrew. I gave him kind of bland reactions, and it started This is very fun.

No, I meant the insults were actually compliments. Teasing like that is flirting. But if you withdraw and let him chase (as you are doing), he will break down eventually.
