Hi Ra. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out my dreams, but this one's not coming clear to me. A couple of nights ago I had a dream that my...for lack of a better word -husband - though we aren't ordained by government........anyway, my husband and I were talking and overlooking a large body of water. I wanted to show him something that I had seen on the beach. We walked down a rocky ravine toward the beach. Just as we neared the opening to the beach, I saw a giant snake curled up on a boulder. At first, I wasn't afraid and figured we could just walk past, but it looked up at me and I knew it had evil intent. I told my man to run and I backed carefully away from the snake. Suddenly it charged me, mouth wide open as if it intended to swallow me whole. I extended my right hand and told it to stop. It did stop, but it also struck and I could see one huge fang go right through my hand. It didn't hurt, but it looked bad. I told the snake it couldn't hurt me and it turned and slithered back to its rock. Afterward, my hand looked pretty bad, but my husband and friends that I showed it to couldn't see the wound and thought I was nuts for wanting to go to a healer. Then I woke up. Funny thing is, I have an extremely active dream life, but I can't remember ever dreaming of snakes, especially an attack. I don't even mind snakes, certainly not the little grass snakes around here, and I don't have any fear of them. I don't necessarily connect them with evil, because like Linda, I have a whole different take on that whole Adam and Eve thing. Anyway, this dream was extremely vivid and I'm still having a hard time getting the image of that snake out of my mind. Seems to be trying to tell me sonething. Any ideas?

Thanks so much for the benefit of your wisdom.

Welcome, FishKitten!

You are too kind. I do have some thoughts, but they will have to wait until I have some more time.

Thank you for your patience!

Thanks Celtic Shaman. It kind of felt like that, but I can't imagine who or what it might be. I guess maybe any damage caused will look worse than it is, because I definitely didn't feel hurt. I have also heard of snakes being a symbol of Karma, but I can't think of any reason why Karma would owe me a bite. I'm sure it will all come to light eventually.

Welcome, Celtic Shaman!

Unless FishKitten was brought up with the same belief, I doubt this applies. But if a snake appeared in YOUR dream, no doubt this would be a very good possibility! Thank you for the input!

FishKitten,

Snakes can symbolize sooo many different things! It depends upon your feelings about snakes and the context in which they appear.

In this dream, there are symbols, all of which can have varied meanings, but when taken together suggest unconscious force becoming conscious. The large body of water can symbolize the unconscious. The beach can symbolize the meeting place of unconscious energy and awareness. This being the case, the snake could be an extension of this unconscious-to-conscious energy, as snakes are symbolically connected with water, adding to it an occult or mystical flavor. This snake is indicating something like wisdom, healing, or transformation.

All of this describes the undercurrent of the energy present, but does little to decipher any particulars. So, questions are always helpful ...

Has there been an instance recently in which your feelings or your ego have been hurt?

If so, is this something that those close to you cannot see?

If not, what is it that you have become aware of which others fail to see?

It seems that there is something you wish to share with those close to you, in particular your husband, but there is resistance or some other energy preventing this, or making this difficult for their understanding.

What do you think?

Very insightful, Ra.

I can't think of anything that has hurt my feelings or ego lately (and with all the Pisces and Leo in my chart, it definitely can happen).

I hadn't really considered it, but now that you mention it, I do think something is trying to move from my subconscious to conscious. I have had feelings of disquiet that don't seem to spring from anywhere or anything specific. I am usually very much at peace, at least for the past decade or two. I definitely am aware of many things that those close to me do not see, but since I think it is far more beneficial for people to reach their own insights than for me to try to "teach" them mine, I usually avoid trying to pass on info for which people are not ready to be responsible. I'll think about this more.

Thanks so much for you input, Ra. I think you've helped point me in the direction I was seeking.

You are most certainly welcome, but I am not done with you yet! I, too, will give this more thought. Now that I have a sense of your energy (and it is ... strong?), and a bit more information, perhaps I will become inspired!

... of course, this with your permission.

... a gold and white light I see around you! Beautiful!! ... and purple/violet!

It is the wounding of your hand by the snake that calls my attention. Our hands connect us with the world and play an important part in communication, or the activity of expressing. They are also agents of healing.

What I am feeling is that the snake is symbolizing unseen force, a force of wisdom, power, and healing - and for some reason I feel an alchemical energy connected with it, seeing the snake coloured red in my mind's eye.

It feels as though some energy has been imparted to you, a transformative energy. The hand gesture of 'stop' that you performed in the dream feels like a boundary, a personal boundary that was crossed or punched through by the force represented by the snake. The way I am seeing it, this energy originates from the collective unconscious (large body of water), and is making itself known to you on a conscious level. If the red, alchemical feeling is correct, this could indicate the final stage of the transformation, or impartation, of this energy/force. And because it was your right hand, this could suggest an active/masculine sort of energy, as opposed to something passive/feminine - or a need to take action in response to the energy.

The only example I can think to give at the moment (although certainly not the only possibility) which illustrates what could generate this sort of symbology is that of a higher energy/entity/knowledge (like a higher self or Master-type force) imparting a message or energy through psychic/intuitive or telepathic means.

Does this make ANY sense?

Sorry to take so long to reply. I was away for a few days.

What you said makes total sense. The color red did show up in the dream in a few places. More than that, I think you have hit the nail on hte head, so to speak. I think that is was a message. Once upon a time I became less attached to the physical world than I am now. I spent so much time in spiritual persuits and in seeking knowledge, etc., that I didn't have much connection with the every day world around me. Nine years ago that all changed. It was when I met my current life partner. He didn't purposely divert my attention, but for the first time in ages, I found a lot of joy in just being human and living a simpler life. It has been a lovely vacation, but lately I've been getting a lot of clues that it is time to address many things that I know. I guess that is why my partner was with me in my dream when I met the snake, but he didn't really get the importance of the meeting and couldn't see or understand the bite on my right hand. My right hand is my active, power hand and I guess its time I quit lolling around under the apple trees and get back to some of the work I was doing before this wonderful little interlude. One other thing that might interest you...I dreamed my mate before I met him. About six months before we met, I dreamed I was walking down a path through the forest. I saw a man in a small clearing beside my path stirring a large cauldron. I went over to him and asked what he was stirring. He replied, "Your soul." After that, he continued with me along my path. There was more, but I won't go into it all. It was a strong dream that really stuck with me. When I saw him for the first time in person months later, I knew him immediately. I introduced myself, took him to my home, and we have been together ever since. He was a little freaked out when he saw my dream journal that described him exactly (hair, eyes, clothing, boots, birthday, etc) but he has always accepted my connection to the spiritual plane. He doesn't always understand and doesn't feel driven to discover all the names of god and the secrets of the universe, but he is supportive. Interesting that my back-to-work order should come through a dream as well.

Thanks again, Ra! It all made sense the minute I read your last reply.
