It started few days ago. Since then, I've been having nightmares about them almost every night.

It began with the first nightmare. In it, I was laying down on my bed, staring at the ceiling and then out of nowhere, several cockroaches started crawling out of the sheets and my skin started to itch. I looked down at myself and they were all over my bed. I started to scream so hard, scratching my skin all over until it bled. It ended with me jumping out of the bed and running out of the room.

The second one was way worse and much more disturbing. I was home, at my parents' living room. My mother and older sister were sitting across the room, opposite to my seat. We were talking normally and then I noticed something coming out of a tiny hole in the wall behind my mother's back. It was a single cockroach.

Then the hole started to get bigger and bigger. millions, and I mean MILLIONS of them were all over the wall and my mother and sister were totally oblivious to them. I kept screaming telling them to move away and that the cockroaches will get them but they weren't hearing me.

I jumped and I violently pulled my mother and sister away. I started to smash the insects with anything I could find but there was no end to them. The more I killed, the more they kept coming back. The nightmare ended there.

This is so weird and disturbing because I have never dreamed of cockroaches before. I see snakes, scorpions, moths and spiders in my dreams every now and then and they usually don't hurt or terrify me as much. Now, I'm kind of dreading sleep at this point

I don't understand what's triggering my subconscious to dream of them. When I'm anxious or too stressed out, I mostly dream of crocodiles. They're, so to speak, my own personal demons materialized but never cockroaches before. Now, I'm beginning to feel itchy all the time for no reason, showering up to 3/4 times a day and still feeling uncomfortable/unclean. I have never exprienced this before.

So sorry to hear of this disturbance for you.

When I saw the title and decided to visit, my first thought was practical. Loads of insects can indicate a medical condition. Something is medically off? ...

chemical/neurological?
have you been exposed to something chemically very toxic recently?
absorbed some metals-- lead or mercury (either from work, or a hobby, or old toothpaste tubes)?

Have some good general bloodwork done, to check body chemistry. If you can afford it, ask your doc to do a tox screen on you too...

Practical aside--
Also!, if you are taking that many showers a day, please be sure to replenish the moisture on your skin with a good cream (not just flimsy lotions)?
.. I tend towards having very dry skin myself. For me, Nivea Crème does an excellent job. I don't have to keep re-applying it during the day. Make sure that when you dry off, you apply the crème immediately (seals in the moisture).

Sometimes too -- following my train of thought about the water -- there could have been changes in your local (or house's) water system? Check to make sure your water (cooking/drinking, or what you're bathing in) hasn't had some kind of 'change'-- sometimes authorities change the methods of sanitizing water. It might be something you can report to them?, or, something new that you have to either adapt to, or try to correct for yourself as it comes into the home system.

Many times, your dreams CAN reflect that the BODY detects something that needs a doctor's attention ...

After making sure things are chemically (physically) correct, then, you might want to look at the emotional psychological needs of the psyche--- You might journal, do an artistic project, or get together and talk to some good trusted family or friends about "something that is bugging you" so much that it holds the possibility of 'overwhelming' the 'walls' of your life right now? Your walls closing in on you?... Running over with cares that you haven't 'had the time' in your life to slow down and take time for your self to directly looked at.

An ounce of preventative 'letting your hair down' can beat 'a pound of cure' (and physical problems, stemming from unprocessed emotions, thoughts, and cares-worries and anxieties)....

Face whatever it is that is bugging you, and you may find an unlock a Strength that is there too, as a gift for looking straight at it. {{ }} 'You Can Do This!'

When we are weak (admit vulnerability) then we might find we are not alone in this... We have Friends who care.

My third thought is close to the first one....

If you are doing recreational-drugs, or, those kinds of shamanistic-medicines?... your brain-wiring could be saying that it's had "too much"... Perhaps!!!, you may need to curb the use of those Substances (for a while). Your brain is in revolt!!! (laughing)

The other thing related to that?...

If you're already on any prescribed-medications by your doctor, then, whatever "dosage" the doc has you on COULD be "too high" for you? -- You might have reached a dose level that has "pickled" your brains. Tell your doctor what's going on. The doctor could have your dose lowered, or put you on a drug vacation to help bring your physical chemistry back into a state of balance.

Wishing you The Best! Thank you for the courage to share your dreams. We ALL learn by the processing of the mind in its dream states. Soooo amazing, so Powerful.

Hello SilverFeather

I tend to see this as more psychological than anything else. My first thought, as mirage mentioned, is "what's bugging you?" Something is. There are clues in what you have written that may point to an answer, so I'm just going to ask some questions.

First, these cockroaches likely represent an undesirable aspect of self which needs to be acknowledged, or some undesirable aspect of a situation/issue that is bothering you, at least subconsciously.

What is "bugging" you? What is irritating you (itch)? What has gotten under your skin?

What are others oblivious to (mom and sis oblivious)? What do you want to express that no one hears (they weren't hearing you)?

What is making you feel uncomfortable/unclean?

Think back to just before these dreams began. Something triggered these feelings. What was it?

These thoughts and questions may seem obvious, but sometimes it helps to have them put out there.

That was a horrible dream.... just horrible.

I really really hope that you're okay, SilverFeather.

May you have 'assistance' with whatever this is, during time of need. {{ }}

We're thinking of you here....

Sorry for being late, life got busy and I didn't find the time to check the website but I'm alright now, thanks for asking

I want to thank you GeminiKarat, Mirage and also Ra for their kind helpful replies You,guys, were spot on. There was indeed something, which had been 'bugging' ,so to speak, for a while. I decided to open up about it to my mother and luckily I haven't had another cockroach dream since.

I didn't realize how much that something was weighting down on my psyche. I kept quiet about it for so long but now, I feel much better, way lighter. I'm so relieved that I can sleep peacefully now.

I've also been applying moisturizers like you've recommended Mirage and my skin is getting better. I stopped showering so much and I'm feeling fine overall. I no longer feel that sense of 'uncleanness/discomfort'. I believe it was psychological more than anything else.

I have also been taking medicine for my ear, I had some hearing issues for the past month but I've finished what my doctor gave me and now I'm good. My hearing is back to normal and I no longer suffer from constant ringing. I think the pills probably had an effect on my dreaming/sleeping pattern as well but I just wasn't aware of it.

I dreamt of lions after those horrible nightmares ended. They were strong, beautiful and golden, laying under the sun and I was laying besides them, feeling so at ease and all warm. It was a lovely dream, I slept well that night and ever since.

Thanks everyone for your gentle concern and lovely words <3 I'm thankfully better

What you have done made you stronger like the lion in your dream.

I wish you all the best on your way!

Oh, I'm sooo glad to hear that things are resolving for you, SilverFeather! Thank you for sharing with us. {{{ }}}

Ear problems are NOT fun...ugh. They can add to overwhelming all the other edgy situations in our lives.

Haha... One time a doctor had given me an anti-dizzy medicine for a severe inner-ear Eustachian tube infection I had had. I called him and said I didn't like it because it made me too tired~sleepy and I 'couldn't drive'... (I had kids, and was an 'urban mommy'!! LOL) His (funny) response to me was 'That's exactly what I want you to do... SLOW down and get ~REST!'

I hope your life feels rest-filled and that your problems fully resolve.

(And Good for you!, for talking things over with your mum!!! ..)

The lion/tiger is the ultimate expression of feminine energy/aspects, as initially represented by the cats. Something about the "cat" energy/aspect has matured or strengthened into "lion" energy/aspect.

Growth.
