I woke up to a good dream this morning. Good dreams can be so rare that I thought I'd share and make a positive post for a change

I've always liked the idea of becoming a writer ..and now that I say this I remember crawling into bed last night thinking about a short story idea. (I choose instead to go to school for human Service.)

So In my dream I'm sitting down for a one on one interview talking about my writing skills. ironically the resúme sitting in my lap didn't have much on it. Just a short paragraph. I felt like I knew just what to say in the interview and I had sound uncharacteristically confident and proud of myself in this area. I had talked about how I had wanted to be writer, how this was the right department for me, how I knew the proper structure of writing, how I had moved people with my writing, and the experience I had. We agreed we didn't need to look at my resúme and I left believing I was offered the job.

quite an unusal thing for me to be dreaming about and seemingly out of the blue. But this is one the benefits dreaming, that they can offer you an alternative reality to which you know. Personally it is not uncommon for my dreams to balance out my reality. When things in my relationships are good, things in my dreams go wrong and so on.

Laughing... Well then, thanks for sharing that positive dream with us, Eyes_like_pisces.

So wonderful that you are being schooled for a Human Service certificate or degree. That's an accomplishment, and worthy achievement. Also a door-opener.

You can STILL pursue writing! ... (Don't quit your day job?? LOL)

If you do any Papers in your school/college, make sure to make the 'topic' you write on MATTER to you. It's very easy to take a 'basic' paper you do for assignments, and put extra polish (flesh it out more), and have it ready to submit to a professional journal associated with your work/trade. That's ALWAYS impressive to have been published in your field of interest, on future resumes.

And.. Or! ....

Join a local Writer's Group--

(You can find them through online MeetUp circles, or, inquire at your local Public Library?). Write. Pass your Creativity around the table and get some feedback. It can be fun! (I was in a group like that in my younger years.)

Have you ever picked up a copy of The Writer's Market?

- http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/writers-market-2018-robert-lee-brewer/1125 480629?ean=9781440352638#/

Also, go to a larger magazine-stand store, and look at the trade-magazines for writers. There are a few types to choose from.

What kinds of things do you like to write?

Ever submitted anything yet?

Thanks Mirage29!

Those are some really good suggestions! I took some creative writing classes when I was young, even journalism, and joined a group, but always lacked fictional ideas. I think my talents lie on more the technical side of things. I'm good at writing school papers, following guidlines and structures. Same goes for drawing. I can draw what i see brfore me and sometimes completely recreate another artists work to look identical, but I can't for the life of me draw an image from my imagination that doesnt resemble kindergarten level.

Hello eyes like pisces,
May I suggest something? Why not try automatic writing? It can help unleash your imagination.

I watched a video of a woman who said she was doing automatic writing. I really didn't know 'what' that was. Thought that you are letting spirits/disincarnated beings take-over your muscles and your 'body' writes.

Nope.

I was relieved to find that it can be you-yourself listening to inner-voice, inner-counsel, and you-yourself are writing (or drawing) using YOUR own muscle-power.

It's more about 'what is impressing you' at the time, to write or draw.

Then, she did an objective explaining of what she thought her 'session' was saying. It was like dream-interpretation, in a way.

Kind of cool to see that, and 'how' it works.

For me... I think I might be spooky???

I feel I can do my best communications if I 'let go' of what my crispy-mental-mind would 'figure out' what to say, contrasted with, what my Heart wants to pour out.

I guess that's like a modified-automatic??

Or maybe, just Inspirational.

Drawing....

There is the way of 'seeing' where eyeballs are on the flat-surface of the paper, and your full mind is trying to 3D crispy-think of something to create.

Then, there's a way to shift into Imagination, 'behind the eyeballs' deep in the empty-part (yet full) of a certain place in your brain, which is, your mind.

There IS a way for your head to see the 'product' inside, and almost like you 'trace' it onto the paper WITHOUT having your crispy-(nonInspirational) hand 'draw' it.

It's your outside anatomy, your physical mental hands, versus cooperation of allowing the Inspiration 'first'. It's like a strange Inside-reversing.

The DeepInside 'sees' with the Mind.
The outside hands belong to the brain, and physicality.

It's a cool integrating .... where you allow the 'picture' to 'be there' on the paper, before you ever touch utensil to flat-paper surface.

Then you trade back-and-forth, between Imagination to hand.

Then 'hand'/mind/emptied-finished pen dips back INWARD to the inkwell of Imagination, that renews the 'purpose' of hand... which is, to Create and be conduit to Imagination.

hmmmm. I hope that makes sense???

Anyways!!

I had done some work as a technical writer.
Worked on catalogs, among other things. With my Mercury Gemini, and Virgo Moon, I was 'fussy' with myself. HAD to get-it-'exact' as I could, or I'd be sooo unsatisfied with work.

In creative writing, my friends used to say that I edited WAY too much... They said I picked scabs. ewwww, right? hahahaha

I remember 'the moment of shock' in junior high school, where I Learned how to 'let go' of 'what I created'-- scrap it, start ALL OVER again 'as though' a new piece of work. That's a Liberation, actually. When you learn how not to own your own work.

~

I remember working on study-guides at a religious college. I was 'ghosting' FOR an elderly woman professor. She was a Taurus. We had a GREAT relationship. She would give me her notes. I would attend her classes. She spoke extemporaneously. I would take notes on her speaking, then 'incorporate' and integrate all the materials into making that study guide. I have a talent for 'hearing' the other-person's speech inside my head. I could copy her way of 'expressing' but using words of my own choosing.

I was finishing up a HUGE project for her. It was December 10th of that year in earlier 1990s. I was full-boar planning my own wedding-event for Dec 26. Still sewing on my dress. Single-mom with two young girls. Busy busy busy busy.

I had worked for HOURS, so diligently and super-hard on a manuscript that was due to go to publishing (deadline).

In my frenzy (and excitement), I presented her with a certain chapter-installment. She looked at me after reading it, and said so groundedly-- "you wrote this with 'your' voice, not mine."
.. omg.... She was correct!!!
I did NOT mind at all going back over the 'voice' of the writing, and making it 'sound' more to 'her' patterns of speech.

~

A decade before that....
I had 'ghosted'/compiled a professional lecturer's first book.
It was 'hard' when I utilized my crispy-brain to put her book together.
But every so often, I'd wake up in the middle-of-the-night with "a chapter" that wanted to be written.
WHEN I 'obeyed' the call of the muse, I'd sit at my little rinky-dink bright orange simple typewriter, and the chapter poured out through my fingers.
IF I felt way too tired that night and insisted on sleeping, it was like the muse rejected me.... Oh my. Could take days to get her back!

Ignore the muse for one day, and you'll wait three to woo her back to you.

So anyways...
I remember a specific chapter-- it was chapter 6. It had flowed out my fingers.
I presented the manuscript to the professional.
She cocked her head in a kind of way, thought about it, then I think she must have said to herself that she 'MUST have said that?' ... Result was that she accepted it, as though it were 'her own' saying.
(I was so thrilled she adopted it-- even added it in her lectures.
I never told her that *I* had extrapolated that information... from my intimate-familiarity with her work and mission, my own intellect, and the added breath of Inspiration that had been downloaded in the middle of that night, from the muse.
.. omg. I'm STILL nervous thinking about that.
.. And so silly, but--- I'd feel 'sooooo incredibly guilty' and ashamed when she'd come to the little cottage I stayed and worked in. She'd walk-in early in the morning, to find me still in bed.
.. I'd only had a few hours in that bed.
.. I'd nervously imagined that she thought of me as 'lazy' and not getting up with the sunrise? ... What she didn't know, was that my Inspirations for her materials would come by night-- AND, my brain-body needed the sleep!! awww.)

(We're talking about some decrepit 'ancient history' here... ..)

Thanks for bringing back some good memories for me.

Take Care!!

I don't know if either of you have ever watched this movie about the life and Creativity of Mozart? ...
It's one of my very-FAVORITE movies.
