Not that I would ever consider such a thing nor even fit the requirements. But I was wondering how other people might feel about it. I also want to know what exactly is their job? All I know is that they're international and focus only on secretive type projects which can be any number of things. I did see the movie "The Recruit" with Colin Farrel, and remember watching the commentaries on DVD, and I remember being awe struck from all the skills they were made to learn. The guy made it sound benevolent but we all know better then that. Even though, an agent gets to go to numerous countries, and experience all kinds of adventure. There's plenty of PROS and CONS, so that's what I'm asking, would you ever consider hypothetically? My answer would be no but in real life I would never even be qualified.

Another thing, what happens to those child geniuses when they grow up? I heard that they end up working for the government. Is that true?

Aphrodite what was your reason and why did you change your mind?

I'm sure that some of them are really great people, even though in my opinion, the job is too shady for my liking. But it would be so great to learn their skills.

P.S. From all we know, someone from the government knowing Linda Goodman has probably seen this site. Or maybe not.

I've heard the CIA monitors this site. Get a life, you bozos! But the FBI is cool.

I used to intern for a fed agency, and thought the work was interesting, productive, and requires abilities to think outside the box . . . so to speak.

If you like playing with mysteries, codes, and games---AND IF you're good at it, it's the job for you.

Both agencies always recruit. They look for you, or you look for them. They require at least a bachelor's degree, and it can be in any major. An entrance exam is a requirement, and also a physical. You get trained in general studies for a few years, then branch out into specialties. You basically sign away your life once you get in.

My Pisces mom talked me out of taking the exam

Anywho.

Top of the class in high school is preferred (top 5 students), 3.3 GPA and above for university.

I've always been so fascinated by the CIA. How they have so much power over us and nobody even knows it. I really just wanna learn about them. Like get my hands on some secret info and just read about all they have done. It would be so interesting! But then they would probably kill me...but i actually for a period in my life wnated to work for them. And plus i speak a foreign language which might be helpful lol. Ah what am i saying! Working for the CIA is bad..right?

Nope, not me, I doubt that I would ever agree to work for any branch of the government. I'm too cynical, in my eyes government is too corrupt, too concerned with taking away my rights as an individual...

I'm not an anarchist, as I don't think its a state that can realistically exist. I'm not exactly "anti-government," so I'm really not trying to start a little war-like opposition here about this subject. I often deeply respect individuals within the confines of government, while still not being particularly fond of some of its institutions.

Government, i.e. the CIA and FBI do worthy things. But they're also known for being insidious.

Anyway, ya asked, so you got an answer, likely more than what you bargained for.

I think it depends on what you wanna do for the CIA...

Most CIA peeps are data-crunchers and report writers... which is fun... I guess...

To be a "field agent" you are generally recruited by the CIA. Not you taking an exam to get in... you have to have like NO family ties and a long list of other pre-reqs before you're even put into consideration...

Being a "spook" always interested me, but knowing a million different languages, a million different techniques for combat, knowing knowing knowing...I'm just not smart enough... you have to be a genius to handle all this...

*side note* I agree that they put all our country's intellectual resources to work within the gov't; i.e. child geniuses once they've grown up.

Plus you can't have ever done any drugs in your life to get in the CIA...oops!

Also, you end up devoted your entire life to your country and to superiors that may not always have the best motives in mind
And you'll die w/o recognition, if you're caught, you're on your own... who wants to die by torture?

I dunno, guess that's part of the job

this is quite funny, but i've been thinking about this for the last two weeks and then i find this post!
*i find strange things funny*

i would LOVE to be in the CIA or actually another branch thats like the CIA, but even more secret, so secret that no one knows its name.

i like fading into the background and watching people interact....it may be lonely i guess.....but i reckon the adventure would make up for that.....anything to make life exciting i guess

ps. i'm an aries, do you think that mite have something to do with it?

I also agree that happens to child prodigies, you never hear from them again. Every once in a great while, you'll hear about a preteen graduating college, and your like wow that's so amazing. But then they fade away into non-existence and you never hear from them again.

Moonat, I'm pretty there are dozens of secretive branches, ones that even exist as underground neigborhoods. They're probably scientists who become mad hermits or something similar.

someone above mentioned the possibility that the CIA could be monitoring this site, from a strictly legal standpoint, if they were and Randall could prove it he could sue them. Since the site is registered within the US the CIA has no right to monitor or get involved. the CIA is not permitted to conduct operations within US borders. That is where the FBI comes in, they are the ones responsible for monitoring those of us in the US, anything the CIA did without FBI assistance within US borders is illegal. Of course, that doesn't mean they don't do it, just that they would be in trouble if they got caught.

I would love to know some of the things the CIA knows! I bet half of them have no clue what the other half does, they are so covert! I'm intrigued and slightly unnerved all at the same time!

Linda was (unfortunately) a subject of great study for the CIA.

She was? Why were they so interested? I thought they would have been skeptical about all the things she claimed to be true ( and are true, of course).

Oh my, what do we discuss that could be remotely interesting to the CIA. If they are monitering, I really did mean what I said about the guy deserving his gonads blown off in retribution for the dogs . So there!!

I wouldn't join the CIA unless I thought I might get to do something interesting. Most CIA people are just pencil-pushers or specialists, they must get soooo tired of it.
No wonder they slept through 9/11.
