Don't bother, they're here!!

Send in the Clowns — Obama, Hillary, Pelosi
Tuesday, March 18, 2008 3:28 PM
By: Philip V. Brennan

Whenever I behold the antics of the once great Democratic Party as its members cavort across the political stage I think of the final line of the song "Send in the Clowns" that concludes "Don't bother, they're here."

Almost from the moment the Democrats assumed control of Congress and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid took charge of their respective chambers it was evident that the Marx Brothers were loose on the Hill.

Solemn campaign pledges to shake up the existing order of things, repeated by Madam Pelosi in the earliest days of her speakership, seemed quickly forgotten as such goals as ending the scandal of earmarks slowly vanished in the mists and its champions such as John Murtha leapt into a powerful subcommittee chairmanship and gobbled up the pork.

Was it Harpo or was it Groucho who scripted Mrs. Pelosi's attempt to install her pal Murtha as the new House majority leader that was frustrated when Maryland's Steny Hoyer beat Murtha for the job thus publicly embarrassing the speaker. As the Washington Post noted ominously, the episode exposed "a deep political divide even before the party takes control."

From that point forward it has been all downhill.

The outnumbered Republicans with only 202 members in the House to the Democrat's 233 members continued to run circles around Mrs. Pelosi's and her Democratic majority, ravaging the much ballyhooed Democratic legislative agenda.

It had to be the zany Marx brothers who convinced House and Senate Democrats that it would be good politics to pledge to increase everybody's taxes by promising to allow the Bush tax cuts which had revived the economy to expire.

One by one, the items in Mrs.' Pelosi's agenda fell by the wayside. The media wouldn't think of reporting it as such, but the story of this Democratic-controlled House is a farce. The wayward Republican adults the voters drove out of office have been replaced by a host of juvenile delinquents led by a leader spectacularly unfit to lead the lower chamber.

In the Senate, where the Marx Brothers have once again prevailed Harry Reid has been repeatedly outmaneuvered by the Republicans, who have driven a stake through the heart of his agenda.

Ignoring the fact that the administration always had a host of options available to them as far as events in Iraq were concerned, Mrs. Pelosi embarked on a seemingly endless campaign to end the war and bring the troops home. And time after time, she failed despite her superior numbers.

Moreover, once the administration used one of their options and put the surge in place, Mrs. Pelosi and Sen. Reid read the scripts that must have been written by the Marx Brothers and declared the surge a certain failure even before it got underway.

And when it began to show dramatic progress both refused to recognize it. With Groucho obviously whispering in his ear, Reid declared the war — it was obvious the U.S. was now beginning to win — already lost.

And who but Harpo Marx could have convinced Nancy Pelosi to charge that Gen. Petraeus would paint an unreasonably rosy picture of the progress on the ground in Iraq when he came back to report on its progress?

“I’m very concerned that they will kick the can further down the road or talk about a few anecdotal successes that they’ll try to pass off as the situation in Iraq,” Pelosi told reporters. She was outdone by Hillary Clinton who avowed that it required the “willing suspension of disbelief,” to accept the word of this widely esteemed general officer.

The widespread belief that the GOP was doomed do go crashing down to defeat in the 2008 elections ignored the well-known capacity of the Democrats to snatch defeat from the jaws of near-certain victory.

Watching the present Democratic campaign for their party's presidential nomination is nothing less than watching a replay of some classic Marx Brothers movie such as "Animal Crackers," "Monkey Business" or "At The Circus." Only the characters are different. Instead of Groucho, Harpo and Chico you have Hillary and Bill and Barack.

You can almost imagine you're hearing such dialogues from Monkey Business as:

MAN: "What's the idea putting your hand in my pocket?"

CHICO: "Just a little mistake. I had a suit once just looked like that, and for a moment I thought those were my pants."

MAN: "How could they be your pants when I've got them on?"

CHICO: "Well, this suit had two pair of pants."

When you hear Barack Obama insist that he never heard those notorious hate lines from his former pastor Rev. Wright, or Hillary duck questions about failing to release tax returns or other possibly incriminating documents about her days in the White House with Bill, it sounds exactly like someone claiming to have two pairs of pants.

It's Loony Tunes all the way. Wiser heads among the Democrats are wringing their hands (if heads can wring their hands, that is) over the spectacle of a major political party in the process of committing suicide.

Watching the Clinton forces in a no-holds battle to destroy Barack Obama, and Obama's attempt to return the compliment brings joy to Republican hearts who rejoice over seeing their potential opponents being utterly destroyed by members of their own party before they can get their hands on him or her in the fall campaign.

In the "Big Store" were hear these lines:

WOLF [Groucho]: "Martha, dear, there are many bonds that will hold us together through eternity."

MARTHA: "Really, Wolf? What are they?"

WOLF: "Your government bonds, your savings bonds, your liberty bonds."
With the Democrats, substitute “our tax dollars.”

Don't bother sending in the clowns. They're already here.

Yes, funny indeed.

Now who would think the demoscats would nominate either of these 2 clowns to be president of the United States.

One, Hillary is a criminal. The only reason she's not a felon is because she hid her Rose law firm billing records in the face of a court order to produce them. She's also hiding her income tax returns. And she's also hiding her records of her activities as First Lady from the view of voters. Those very records which Hillary says "uniquely qualify her to be President".

The other, like Hillary is an out and out socialist. His spiritual guru is a rabid black racist, America hater and antisemite. A man who preaches hate from the pulpit, a man who says white people invented the aids virus to kill black people, a man who says white people sell drugs to black people to oppress them and send them to prison, a man who say GD America, a man who says we deserved the 9/11 attacks on the WTC and Pentagon. Nice huh?

His political guru is or was a member of the Communist Party USA.

His wife has said she is proud of America...for the first time in her adult life.

She went further and said...America is mean. Now, this is a woman who got a primary and secondary education free of cost..to her. A woman who either got a good enough education to qualify her for entrance to one of the most highly acclaimed universities in America...or she got extra points for being both a woman and a racial minority. Either way, she was accepted at Yale and later at Harvard...and the government of the United States guaranteed her student loan to pay for her university education...twice. But, America is mean.

Shades of Teresa Heinz Kerry, another America hater.

These are the 2 dud choices demoscats are offering American voters.

The main event hasn't started yet but a couple of us have stocked up on popcorn. I've always been partial to clown acts. I just don't want a clown for President of the United States.

Leftists hate McCain because he is surrounded by idiots like George bush is and also because he will stay in Iraq for 100s of years. Iamgine if he decides to attack Iran just like they did Iraq. That will be the worst mistake by America. Time of doom and gloom.

This fight between Hillary and Obama is so bad for the hopefuls who want the war to end. I think its time one of them steps down for people's sake. Its hurting their own interests as well. Hillary is the iron lady of America. I don't think she will give up the race so easily. Obama thinks that he has people behind him.

What a great deadlock .

Well Mannu, McCain was not my choice candidate for Prez and it is true there seems to be some idiots giving advice to Bush at times.

You may be right that a contingent of US military forces will be in Iraq for some time.

Let me point out that there are about 37,000 US military personnel in South Korea, 50 years after the Korean War ended.

Let me point out there are still US military forces in Bosnia more than 10 years after the fighting ended...for the most part.

Let me point out there were and still are large numbers of US military forces stationed at US military bases in various nations of Europe...more than 60 years after the end of WWII.

As for Iran, I'd say the number 1 terrorist state in the world, Iran is a hell of a lot closer to being destroyed as a nation than their favorite rant indicates who their choices for destruction are.

Death to Israel...the little Satan
Death to America..the Big Satan

*Sigh* Jwhop... As much as I tend to respect your position upon the ideals of an Ultra conservitive with a knack of pre-defining things and placing them into pre-ordained boxes Lol! , it would be nice if you did look at things in another prespective .

Iran... As seen by an American Journalist:

http://www.esquire.com/the-side/blog/iranians-like-us-031208

Would you also be interested to know that Iranians in majority do not back any plans for nuclear arms or any attacks upon Israel? Its still a democracy ya know .

First Xodian, I am not an ultra conservative.

Second, I've seen what comes off the presses disguised as news and it's mostly BS which has a ideological slant, heavily larded with rumor, gossip, innuendo, supposition, opinion and outright lies.

Iran is most definitely NOT a democracy. When the government decides at their whim WHOM can run for election to offices that's not democracy...whatever it may be. The government of Iran does just that...decide whom can be a candidate for elective office.

Lastly Xodian, the loons in charge of the Iranian government are damned lucky I'm not calling the shots in America. If I were, every weapon captured in Iraq would be refurbished by army and marine armors, crated and handed over to dissidents in Iran.

Those loons who call themselves the government of Iran have way too much free time on their hands. Ducking bullets, checking cars and trucks parked in front of their homes and government offices where they hang out for bombs and generally running for their lives would solve their problem of too much spare time.

I would give the citizens of Iran the means to fight back.

Well, as you say Jwhop but the government as you and I know it IS at the mercy of the people. Unlike Iraq, there is no tryanny and the people easily have the means to rise up against the government if it chooses to mislead them in anyway. You can definately forget about comparing this to Iraq because the situation here is completely different (for the time being.)

Infact Iran by far has a far equal dose of radicals and Moderates to make it a more stabilized region as compared to other countries.

Trust the people will ya .

A disarmed citizenry IS at the mercy of their government. That's the primary reason the framers of the US Constitution put in the 2nd Amendment...that and the fact some states refused to ratify the Constitution without additional safeguards for the people and for the sovereignty of the states.

First a Tense Talk With Clinton, Then Richardson Backs Obama
By ADAM NAGOURNEY and JEFF ZELENY........................................

"But Mr. Richardson stopped returning Mr. Clinton’s calls days ago, Mr. Clinton’s aides said. And as of Friday, Mr. Richardson said, he had yet to pick up the phone to tell Mr. Clinton of his decision.

The reaction of some of Mr. Clinton’s allies suggests that might have been a wise decision. “An act of betrayal,” said James Carville, an adviser to Mrs. Clinton and a friend of Mr. Clinton."

Bill Clinton compared to McCarthy. Hello, this gets funnier by the second. Far funnier than any sitcom on network TV.

Obama Aide: Bill Clinton Like McCarthy

Mar 22 03:14 AM US/Eastern
By MATT APUZZO
Associated Press Writer
.............................................

"SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign is trying to clarify comments by former President Clinton that seemed to question Barack Obama's patriotism—comments an Obama aide likened to Joseph McCarthy.
Clinton's campaign said the comments were being misinterpreted and quickly posted a clarification on its Web site. But retired Air Force Gen. Merrill "Tony" McPeak said he was disappointed by the comments and compared them to those of McCarthy, the 1950s communist-hunting senator.

The former president made the comments while speculating about a general election between his wife and Republican John McCain.

"I think it would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country," said Clinton, who was speaking to a group of veterans Friday in Charlotte, N.C. "And people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues, instead of all this other stuff that always seems to intrude itself on our politics."

McPeak, a former chief of staff of the Air Force and currently a co- chair of Obama's presidential campaign, said that sounded like McCarthy."
