FledglingMy once impenetrable refuge, my Inner Sanctum,
Invaded and defiled,
and left to drown in a tempestuous lake,
of unabating sorrow
Powerful is this elixir that courses through my veins,
teasing, tormenting, captivating, and alluring,
no rest will it give I.
Tears rain down on the mossy ground where I lie
like shards of fractured glass,
glistering and dancing in the light of the moon
mocking my unrelenting grief.
The chill night breeze howls it's plaintive cry through the overhead trees
In sympathy with my own mournful lament,
Outstretched branches reaching down
like a lover's arms to comfort me.
Oh release this hostage from my veins,
let this merciless elixir flow like a river
onto the icy forest floor beneath me
Euphoria envelopes me like a blanket of sweet opium
as the hostage trickles free
warm and sensual against my cold and pallid skin.
Fleeting memories of a smile, a touch, an embrace, assail my senses
holding them dear in a moment frozen in time,
until they fade like faceless spectres
into the murky shadows of this endless night.
But the Morn will break
and the fledgling will take flight
and I on it's wing
Reborn
