I've been using a pendulum (and L-Rod's too) for about four years. I have three pendulums, one is made of crystal, one is quite heavy and made of gold metal, and one is a pendant. You can make a pendulum out of anything - I have a friend who made one from a piece of fishing line and a carpenter's plumb bob. The pendant doesn't swing as freely as the other two largely due to the thickness of its chain.Oh, and I've made a couple with beads and fine line - I keep them at work - at one point one colleague would come to me every Friday to get me to dowse his footy tips.
You have to program your pendulum so that it knows which way to swing for yes, and which way to swing for no.
You do this by asking it a series of questions of which you know the answer to. It should swing the same way for yes, each time.
You also need to program a neutral swing (sometimes called search) position. And, this is where it should swing at the start of each question.
You are supposed to ask your pendulum for permission each time you would like to use it. And, if it swings no, you are supposed to put the pendulum away until another time because it indicates that the time is not right for you to use it.
When your pendulum is ready, you should say something like: "For this is what I want to know, please tell me the truth - show me the search position"
The pendulum should then swing in your programmed neutral/search position. For me, it swings back and forward (to and away from my body).
Yes swings anti-clockwise and no swings clockwise - but this differs from person to person.
Sometimes the pendulum can play tricks on you. So when you have your answer, you might want to follow up with a question such as "is that the truth?"
Here's an interesting exercise, that involves feeling your own energy (and the energy of others - if you practise on other people).
Take your pendulum, and move it slowly, from the outside of your body. Start about an inch away from your skin - observe the movement of the pendulum. Then, move the pendulum out another inch, observe the movement - another inch, observe the movement....and so on. You should notice a pull toward yoursElf, when the pendulum is inside your auric field. Once you've moved the pendulum outside of your auric field, it will no longer pull. This helps you to identify your own energy - and where your aura begins and ends.
There have been times when I've used my pendulum to seek out a spirit presence that I've felt in my room and it has pulled quite noticeably.
I have a pendulm chart book called The Pendulum Workbook by Markus Schirner.
These pie charts have segments with predetermined answers. There is a pie chart in the front of the book, that shows all of the pie charts in the book. So, if you dowse over that chart, it will point you to the chart that you should be working with on that day.
It was under Aus $20 and is really interesting. It also has an accuracy chart on every page so you can test to make sure your swinging is accurate for that day.
One day I tried it with my sister. It told me to go to the Bach Flower Remedy chart. At that time, I was unfamiliar with Bach Flowers but followed the pendulum's advice. When I dowsed on the Bach Flower's chart, it told me my sister needed something called Rescue Remedy - and the amount of drops she should take. When I told her, she slapped me and I said, "what, what?" She fetched her handbag and pulled a small bottle - it was indeed Rescue Remedy. It was the only Bach Flower remedy that she'd ever heard of and I'd never heard of it until then.
