I was wondering can you describe someone using the cards, similar to astrology and rising sign?

I don't mean the typical solutions, like Queen of Cups is blonde with light coloured eyes but more like, what's the body behind the story of that particular card?

Are Pentacles always sensual? Could Six of Swords mean exotic = card of long journeys?

I see Star as someone who has unadorned beauty, fresh faced, naturally beautiful with supple body; the epitome of youth; unstressed, slightly virginal. Strength is similar too, only with little more sass and better bearing (confidently poised).

High Priestess - woman having a flaw,a slight disfiguration (the temples were known for taking in abandoned children, seeing their physical peculiarity as the sign from the gods) but having great wit and maybe sparkly eyes, denoting zest for knowledge and in general, being attractive if on a second glance.

If a woman is described by a masculine card, like Emperor or Devil, then what? A league in her own? Magician - lean & mean?

How about Tower??

Do you have any examples from your experience? My cards described me as Knight of Wands + Temperance. I think they fancy me.

I'm sure it's possible, but I don't think it's that 'tight' & the interpretation very different, because it's personal.
For instance I would describe the High Priestess very different than you would, but if you would program your cards with your descriptions I'm sure you could describe looks.

I normally just describe the personality, but with a question like 'what is this persons appearance', you can get the overall aura, etc.

Edit: we had a thread ages ago where we tried to describe the other using our cards. It was kinda okay, but def not 100%

How would you describe HP?

So, basically, tarot doesn't care for looks?

It never is 100%.

***

Why is it that you can see someone's problem and be fairly accurate about it but can't really describe their looks? Doesn't that make cards/you subjective, since you can't pinpoint the real, objective aspects, and in turn affects the reading (any reading, not about the appearance)?

Is it ~cards only care about the immaterial, spiritual etc rather that material, physical~ kind of deal?

I think the cards must pick up the whole package.

I even understand the people who say they don't really know how they do it, but manage to really describe the person in question.

How about that High Priestess, Twirl, what does she look like?

Well, most time I ask about myself, appears Queen of Pentacles. Calm, with an earthy body (not too fat not too thin).

My ex was always Knight of Cups in my readings, he's blond and thin, and fast with actions.

And my future one (I know, I know), is always King Of Pentacles. =)

I too have a King of Pentacles somewhere around me. it has been popping out in readings that should cover the period of two years now. And I date a Scorpio. Hm.

Once I asked the cards to describe the love of my life and I got Hermit + Queen of Wands.

The other time I asked them to describe the most loving relationship and got 2 of Cups - I was really into it, focused, but I also have Venus in Cancer natally so I suspected the cards were mirroring my ideals. Shame I didn't follow up with another card. It is, after all, a partnership...

This is interesting stuff. My focus has was and still is largely advice based. Using the cards to determine the best course of action or understand things from a different perspective. More emotional and psychologically based.

I do agree with the thought that when you start assigning each card certain attributes they will show up that way for you but also there are times where the same card shows up when the cards are trying to get you too look deeper and find a different meaning.

So in the spirit of things I asked, when I am happiest and healthiest what should I look like?

4 of pents- Emperor- Page of Pents

Lean, muscular but still feminine? The Page in this deck is a girl. The Emperor card is covered with phalluses so I'm not sure if that means I'd be sexually alluring or extremely masculine...

My best friend is dating a Scorpio and always pull King of Pentacles when asking about them. I think this King is stable, noble and knows here he's going. A perfect man to marry!

*nods* Tarot is a great exercise in semiotics. Ideally, when one pulls a card or three, that combination speaks directly to *them*, to their experience, so only they can get it. My friend says that she'd pull 2 cards, and get not a story but a word, a simple and concise answer - as if the cards are letters, or syllables.

quote:
4 of pents- Emperor- Page of Pents

Emperor - Strong, sturdy built as means of recognising (look at littlecloud she is all that); not affected by daily trips to gym but well built due to daily work routines (e.g walking to work, and having good legs or gluteus thanks to that) but inherently skinny (or rather what you body systems likes best) : pentacles suit as surrounding cards. Page is youthful and full of élan but she is not Page of Wands, so no fast metabolism and lean muscles by itself. Artsy skinny but firm if little inflexible (like Earth risings), you know what I mean?

With tarot, I at times get images in my head, or phrases and I know this is what is most important and that I need to know.

I think the discs on either side can also relate to my progressed asc in an earth sign. Before when it was in a fire sign I was very active, naturally skinny, and super flexible. I still am a bit, I'm more naturally flexible than most people but I've lost some of it so I can see how it could be seen as more 'rigid'. I am very active but it's partly because I was always so, always running around. I do walk a lot, but also take martial arts classes and have started doing squats because I do need to isolate some muscles to make them stronger. I'm thinking I'll be slightly rounder, but not too round (overweight)because of the discs. A mix of muscle and fat giving a sort of sturdy look...does this make sense? Am I looking at it wrong?

I know what you mean; the fat portion is still thick, dense - not the soft, cups-y type.

I too noticed changes when my Asc Progressed for the first time to a new sign,Scorpio. Libran cherubic if fine lines became the image of the gaunt, without any effort or heed on my behalf. I think that Air - Water connections in relation to the rising sign are flattering.

You know, I'm glad you started this thread because it has definitely made me think about how to characterize looks based on cards...

I can't say I was ever soft, I've played sports my whole life so more wands like I guess. I noticed that my metabolism seemed to have gotten slower and that I didn't like all the junk food I used to, that I preferred finer more nutritious food when my asc changed.

My progressed asc has gone from water, fire, and now earth...natally I guess I have an Earth/Air square to my asc if I look at the planets, which are in fire signs.. So I'm not sure how that plays out...

The biggest changes are when you chart ruler progresses - the transition penetrates into every aspect of your life.

My chart ruler is an outer planet...so progression is very slow...does that mean my person progression in life is very slow as well?

Use the traditional ruler, Mars or Jupiter, since you're either Scorpio or Pisces Rising.

High Priestess I would describe as very feminine & pretty, but with that mystical glow. Mona Lisa smile. Someone else once said 'hot librarian', which I can agree with, no deformities
My solar return ASC is Taurus. Not happy with that. I swear I instantly gained some weight & I'm slow to move, lol.
Not sure what my chart ruler is, but if it's the N ASC one, it will progress in a new sign next year. Can't wait, because Mercury will then be in Libra. I wonder if my love for knowledge & analysing will still continue as much. My Sun will also move in Libra that year.

Hot librarian... Such a cliché
Maybe she is attractive because she's mystical? Attractiveness =/= beauty

What's your Asc?

Well, I have Virgo Mercury, and during the entirety of my schooling I had pMercury in Libra and I wasn't any less thirsty for knowledge. I do wonder though, if the progression facilitated my natural inclinations towards arts and humanities.

Something else occurred to me, I kept thinking of the 4 of discs as 'lean' but since he's holding onto what wealth he has it made me think that I will try to hold onto my current cup size which has gone up from some weight gain.

Lol! yea...we'll see, my main concern is always health. I realize I'm not the gymnast I was 10 years ago, my metabolism has changed as has my food preference, and my focus on what I would like to be able to do physically. I do miss gymnastics tho :/

As a side note, how would you describe appearance in terms of 2 of cups, or 10 of cups? Can 2 of swords describe a blind person?

Well this one is a bit funny...I asked what physical attributes do I have

Queen of Cups- 6 of cups- Hanged man

No I'm not blonde with blue eyes. The Queen of Cups is bare breasted in my deck with no visible hair because the crown covers it.

Queen of cups: http://entangledtarot.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/2013-10-24-09-03-06.jpg?w=168&h=300

6 of cups (if you look close enough is in here): http://www.tarotcardmeaningsonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/A3-all-tarotB-sm3.jpg

A proper gymnast? Cool.

I am one of those people who like 2 of Swords, or rather find it positive; I know the cards can be literal sometimes, so yes, that could be one of the interpretations, or for example one with eye problems like being myopic, so the squinting could be the first thing you notice; Swords tend to show fine, delicate, unassuming even plain features. 10 of Cups is one of those ladies who were "with potential" even prepubescent - and when the hormones hit them, it developed to all sorts of good stuff, really abundant, ladies with cheeky and cheerful dispositions, the body jiggles pleasantly when they move.

As for your cards... You *are* obsessed with boobs! Boobs alert! (I totally get you, I have Venus in Cancer and we *care* about boobs)

Hanged Man is is silent and determined composure to me.

P.s Lots of boobies in that deck.

Well not proper gymnast but as a sport I 'played' in high school, devoted many hours to.

Ok 10 of cups make sense, still things that represent a duality to them confuse me in terms of physical characteristics. Again, 2 of cups, or Temperance, Lovers.

You need to see the Empress in that deck, she's more boobilicious. How about the 6 of cups? I do tend to have a quiet composure, but when I asked the question I wanted to know how the tarot would describe my physical body via the cards.

No, that's still a proper gymnast - not a career but devotion, still counts.

looked up Empress... Moving on! #orelse

I use Morgan Greer deck, very colourful, I like learning to it, so to take a stab at 6 of Cups, I'd say - someone who doesn't change in time? 20 yrs past and OmG, you're haven't changed/aged a day? So it would be very easy for one to reminisce about the times behind them, one being a walking memento.
