Sometimes just nothing happens with love interests or job applications, etc

Ok I'll be serious for you. I think it matters a lot the STAGE when you ask the question.
If you ask a question about a guy you just met one or two times at your job for instance (not you, I say in general) or if you ask the question about your boyfriend of 3 years playing "dead".
EDIT: what I mean is there is a "nothing' that shows disinterest, a nothing that shows a "pause" and a nothing that shows "over". In all three cases, something (different) is happening in the background.

I'm not sure I agree with the 2s; 2s usually indicate there is some sort of exchange, they are couple cards.

Yes, indeed, a possible meaning, but I was just thinking that the 2s show some sort of common understanding in doing something, both parts somehow take part in this, there's a connection with the other person:
2 of pentacles; pros and cons in a practical manner, bi polar
2 of swords: reflecting, pros and cons too, but more of a seeking balance and peace pros and cons
2 of wands: planning, evaluating, contemplating a choice (such as the choice to get more involved or leave)
2 of cups: emotional involvement/connection
Just my opinion, and just a possible meaning. The two are said to show there is connection, interest, mental deliberation at least, about the "other'.

if we're talking new interest, I first ask, for the querent:
"Will they date, romantically?"
a yes/no

then ask how the relationship may evolve
voila! lol

if the relationship doesn't "evolve" you get indifference/rejection cards
