He seems very confused... 4 of swords is the resting card before the battle...

with this one, seems like he is trying to heal from a past hurt, so that's why the cards are like this... and I never saw 2 of cup and 9 of swords in a spread, too.

sometimes when we read for ourselves the cards can be biased and show us our worst fears, making us emotional and that can prompt us into asking again, confusing us even more. I saw you asked the question earlier so I would stick to the first reading you did for yourself. I think the first one looked very positive

I think it's easier to read for others because we're not emotionally involved.

If I were to interpret the cards I think they show what you want presently and your feared outcome.

in cartomancy wands are clubs, cups are hearts and swords are spades.

Personality description of club court cards can sometimes show loyalty and trustworthiness.

So I would interpret this spread as you want him to show loyalty and faithfulness to you, you desire a union with him but you fear you will end up hurt and dissappointed.

As to the distance, maybe that is part of his personality - is he the type of person who likes space generally ? Maybe he is the type who takes his time to commit. But if the talk was positive, then I don't think you have too much to worry about right now.
