Greetings...

Have any of you knowflakes come upon a little book of instruction in the Hermetic Sciences called The Kybalion by Three Initiates.

It discusses in some detail the Seven Hermetic Principles:

I) The Principle of Mentalism
"The ALL is MIND; the Universe is Mental."

II) The Principle of Correspondence
"As above, so below; as below, so above."

III) The Principle of Vibration
"Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates."

IV) The Principle of Polarity
"Everyting is dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled."

V) The Principle of Rhythm
"Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum-swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left; rhythm compensates."

VI) The Principle of Cause and Effect
"Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause; everything happens according to Law; Chance is but a name for Law not recognized; there are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the Law."

VII) The Principle of Gender
Gender is in everything; everyting has its Masculine and Feminine Principles; Gender manifests on all planes."

Simple, yes, but as Linda was so fond of saying, the truth is often hidden in simplicity.

Kybalion... hrmmm... pretty close to Qabalah or Kabala... hmmmm!

Any thoughts?

Bright Blessings in L.V.X. eternal...

Hi

I didn't read the Kybalion (yes, veeery similar to Kabala), but those are the universal truths found everywhere, even just by observing life. These are the universal laws by which everything operates.

I have read it, over and over. It's a great
reference book to have on your path.

It simplifies Universal Laws so us Earthlings can understand how the universe is set up.

Sister, you can order it through BOTA.

Greetings...

Morgana... yes, and when one possesses these keys, then one is able to unlock some of the more difficult and cryptically written books of the ancients, only then can one penetrate their deeper meanings.

Annie... Yes, I'm knee deep in the BOTA studies at present, working my way through Paul Foster Case's True and Invisible Rosicrucian Order, and studying Qabalah with great zeal!

Jakie!!! Glad to see you back! Hope all is well... you have been missed! P.S. I love that song you quoted!

I'm very excited, I just purchased my tickets for my second vacation in Hawaii. I have a good friend that lives there, and I get to stay for free. This years tickets were even less expensive than last October's, by almost $100.00 Such a Deal!!

Thank you, Buddha!

Peace and Light...

thanks for sharing, A.

re: the principle of gender... on a relatively related note.

there's a growing din among a new breed of astrology students and practitioners that the terms 'masculine' and 'feminine' are cultural or period constructs and rather outdated in the light of evolutionary happenstances in the world. they're using words like 'projective' and 'receptive' or pro-active and 'reactive' instead. they're saying that terms like 'masculine' and 'feminine' no longer find a place in this gender-neutral world... that we've moved past the era of using them.

my, would one say that somehow a point in the consciousness of the human race has been reached wherein the bubble of illumination on the Oneness of All has been pierced?

hey jakie,
i like that quote on a 'wise person'

Hello Taj...

Well, Masculine/Feminine, Active/Passive... a rose by any other name...

The Law is the Law... however we choose to neutralize the gender!

Peace and Light...

P.S. Did I mention that I'm not all that impressed with the modern breed of astrologers? They seem to want to PSYCHOLOGIZE a science that is so much bigger and deeper than psychology alone to validate themselves in more "scientific" circles. If we need their validation, then I guess we aren't that sure about what we think we know, eh?

They are just opposites of the same thing.

It is really very simple, and if you would approach it as such, you would spend a lot less time clarifying .

Hi Annie...

I'm not exactly sure what you mean.

I feel kind of like I backed into that comment somehow.

Unless you mean that Gender and Polarity are similar in their meaning?!? :)

I was just talking about how everything has to be "New and Improved",when you are just talking about the same ol stuff...ex. masculine and feminine

I think it's esoterizm 101.

Your mind thinks in masculine and feminine

Its an approach that is easily comprehended by all.

I think before we evolve to neutralizing gender, we better understand masculine and feminine first.

Look at the tarot, it is nothing but masculine and feminine.

We are hear to help everyone evolve, and if you start changing things so that it is harder for people to get esoterizm 101,then it is kinda being "hidden" again.

I was agreeing with you A on the whole neutralization thing.

As you know it is confusing enough when you head on your path with out someone changing the rules on ya.

Kinda like "new math" was ......

I was kinda brief and didn't explain myself too well. I was just trying to keep it simple.

Sorry taj, didn't mean any harm!!

but aren't we in the age of aquarius or something? what's the age all about anyway?

what's it like to be free of preconceptions, i wonder?

there is always a card like 'the tower'.

or death.

um, my mind's curious about possibilities...

annie,
i know you didn't.

Hi Annie...

Gotcha! Things have been pretty hectic at work the past few nights... it's been very intense, and not generally in a good way, so I'm sorry I've kinda disappeared a bit lately!

Taj...

I'm not really sure about the Age of Aquarius, feels more like the death throes of the Age of Pisces, what with all the bad press about the Catholic Church.

I think that we are not quite yet into Aquarius, because I see very few samples of what appears to be the Brotherhood of Man; a look at the daily news will shock that idea right out of your head!

The Tower talks about the Truth setting us free from false notions built on faulty (pardon the pun) ground.

Death I think is more than a symbol of cyclic death and rebirth or transformation... I think Death holds a key to the mysteries of Physical Immortality and Spiritual Alchemy for those with "eyes to see" and "ears to hear".

Free of preconceptions? I'm not sure if that is possible in this Physical Reality. In some ways our "pre-conceptions" are good things, that used rightly hold the key to: Image/Ordain/Manifest. I mean, first we have to see an image with our Mind's Eye, a pre-conception, if you will. Then we must hone our image and speak the Word, which sends the energy out into the "universe" so that our desire can be abracadabra'd into a physical manifestation. Make any sense?

It may not, I'm sleepy, just got off work again.. will be back for more later.

Peace and Light...

"..feels more like the death throes of the Age of Pisces, what with all the bad press about the Catholic Church."

welll...pluto is in sagittarius: a 'shattering' of things 'built on faulty ground'?

sagittarius rules religion and the churches, higher spiritual ideas and ideals. so this is all to be expected. pluto is the transformer, 'the tower' or is it 'death' that always, inevitably happens.

"Free of preconceptions? I'm not sure if that is possible in this Physical Reality."

i'm not sure as well.
just one of my philosophical musings ...

"In some ways our "pre-conceptions" are good things,..."

they are.
in an oblique way, tis actually what the reference to 'the tower' was all about...

jackie,
how about that poem?
