Well, I've got "Gooberz" here with me at work and it's quiet, a good time to read and write. I wanted to start out small, see who caught on with this. "but I listen to the music and I remember..." This sets us up for some seriously wonderful things. I'm a part of this online community called "Friendster" and you can look people up by their interests and I found someone who loved "Gooberz"! I wrote her and she answered back to me that "Gooberz", when you found it, had saved her life. I said the same. Is that true of you? I especially like the page where Linda says that this book IS true and IS fiction... but it is still fact. I love her explanation of that. I would often turn to that page when I became frustrated with details and wanted to really know HER and talk to HER. When I wanted to ask, "Linda, did this really happen?" I would be directed to this page.. "it shouldn't matter about whom the truth is written as long as what is written is truth so never mind who!" All right, all right, I would sheepishly nod my head. I'll hold onto the MESSAGE and MEANING of the book instead of dwelling on its author. IP: Logged |

i had this dream this morning -- as some of you may know i used to work at this great indie bookstore. then a used bookstore took over and I lost job. anyway, i was in the poetry section in my dream and it was half one bookstore and half the other and i found dusty books on the bottom shelf wrapped in brown paper. i held one and knew they used it as display "boxes". I unwrapped it and it was "Gooberz!" the vivid cover and everything. I remember smelling it. It smelled old. I was aghast that they used it for that and surprised that all along, we had indeed had one more copy in the store. Then I awoke. Strange!! LMB IP: Logged |
