I know this forum is mainly about Gooberz, so let me start off by saying yes, I own a hard copy, I've read the whole thing several times, and I intend to read it periodically for the rest of my earthly existence. I LOVE Linda!!
The first book I ever saw was Star Signs, and I think I fell in love with her writing right then and there. I was 19 or 20 at the time. A couple of years later, I was at a friends house, and saw a hard copy of Love Signs on the bookcase. He said it belonged to his mother and to go ahead and take it, she wouldn't even notice it. So, I took it.
Yes, I know I behaved terribly; I wasn't even thinking about the badness of it all at the time. I swear, if I remembered where that house was and who that guy was, I'd have tried to reconcile my mistake. Even if it HAS been 16 years!
Well, karma has a way of handling these matters, to be sure. I've since had that particular hard copy of Love Signs taken from me, as well as subsequent copies that I've had to keep replacing; not to mention several copies of Sun Signs, Relationship Signs, and Star signs; some hard covers, some soft covers. It seemed like I just couldn't keep these books in my posession very long!
I suppose it's only fair that I should pay for my mistake many times over, but I've also decided that something positive has come out of all this. Linda's words are being spread all over the place!
The only book that I've never lost is Gooberz! I found it in Walden's bookstore years ago. I'd heard about it in one of her other books, but I'd never seen it before. It was the only one in the store and it made me sooo happy to finally find it. This is before the days of the web y'all!
Anyways, I became quite a fan over the years, as did my best friend. We decided that we would take a trip to Cripple Creek to check out the ghost above the ice cream parlor and , most importantly, meet Linda if she was willing. At the time I was not confident in my writing abilities(nor am I now), so my best friend penned the letter. When she read it back to me it sounded nice and everything, but I felt it didn't convey the warmth that I wanted it to. Left up to me, that letter would've been mushy and gushy with love.
Anyways, we never got a reply. At first I just couldn't believe that she wouldn't write back at all. I finally assumed that she was not moved by my friend's letter. Well, you all know what happens to people when they assume things.
About two years later, I was in the gym, getting ready to get on the Gauntlet(it's a stairmaster with real steps)when I noticed a People Magazine at the bottom of the machine. I wouldn't have even bothered to pick it up(I prefer music during workouts)except that the page it was opened on had a pic of somebody that looked familiar somehow. From where I was I could see a woman, smiling and holding a bunch of kittens. I picked it up and lo and behold, it was Linda. It was an obituary and it said that Linda died after a long struggle with an illness. It also went on to say that she died penniless, after giving all her money to friends. They made it sound like she was crazy or something.
I cannot tell you how crushed I was when I saw and read that. I guess Linda decided that it was too much of a burden to attempt eternal life here on Earth. Can't say that I blame her.
well, I just thought I'd share that with my fellow knowflakes. As a postscript....hey Randall, is there going to be anymore knowflake meetings/mixers in the future? I'd love to come together with people that share my love and respect for Linda. I have so many questions about Linda that I'd love to ask, but I feel this post is too long already.
Love,
crabcakes

On the way from Utah to Texas. I specially stopped a night in Colorado, as for me too, Linda's experiences of Colorado are in my mind. But my son was not willing to explore much. So when I opened up window in the morning, just breathe in fresh air to have feeling of Colorado.

I was also introduced by one of my friend, she kept on telling me from Star Signs, wear this color, wear this stone. Soon I started feeling myself that I got fair(not in color) looks just clean like crystal. Then I turned out Linda's friend and fan too.

Perhaps, one day. We set one up last year, but very few said they would attend.

I'm a Spongebob fan. Looking forward to the movie. Oh, to live in a pineapple under the sea... *sigh*

I'm thinking about having a Lindaland Reunnion at DragonCon. That way, there's lots to do. www.dragoncon.org

Maybe I'll even do an Astrology activity of some type.

Just a small point about Karma biting you back over the Goodman books you kept losing.

Personally I think it's the mark of a good book that you keep having to replace it.

I have noticed that good books spread themselves around. Every book that I've ever read that has affected my way of thinking has fallen into my lap out of the blue. All in a variety of interesting ways.

I don't know about karma - books travel. I have given books I care about to strangers simply because they expressed an interest. I see it as letting the books travel but maybe unconsciously I'm just trying to keep my new books coming !

I suspect that maybe the reason you haven't lost Gooberz yet is because you haven't finished with it yourself.
