Ahhhhh, Canto Two. This is the Canto that first allowed me to bond with Linda when I read it the first time years ago. I don't have a lot of comments about it. It's difficult to describe with words; it simply has to be experienced--like a rainbow. It's a VERY sad Canto. I cried all the way through it. Just when my eyes cleared, the tears came again. So much sorrow that turns to tears of happiness and then sorrow again. It was in Canto Two that I first personally identified with Linda, and it is a joy to relive it again. It's my favorite Canto of all. I don't want to ruin it by giving too much away, but there is death, loss, betrayal of friendship, racism, Linda's first crush, her questioning of the Episcopal church she was raised in, and many little secrets in between (like the real reason why Catholic priests are not allowed to marry). We also learn much about Bob and Grace (who made such a tremendous impact on how Linda would think in later years). And we learn of Linda's friendship with the Director of the National Urban League. I think Canto Two is her best work. The way she writes brings us near to her and allows us to experience each sorrow as if we are there comforting her with each blow Life deals her. In Canto Two, we see how Linda became the woman we Love so much. We see the relationships and experiences in her childhood that led her to becoming the person who would eventually change the Lives of so many with Star Signs and Gooberz. We also see the meaning of the rosary symbolism (seen in the pencil drawing of Linda posted elsewhere on the site). I also found an omission "...in front the funeral parlor" (she left out "of"), and she places a typo when talking about Caroline. I can't help but think it's a deliberate typo that Linda placed there almost jokingly, because the sentence was about Caroline being so strict about grammar! Sorry, but it's just the Virgo in me that spots typos. I don't look for them. They find me. I am confused about something though. Linda and her five friends started an L.O.Q. club. What does L.O.Q. stand for? Does anyone have an idea?

I`m ready Heidi!

I`m finding I`m having a difficult time putting the emotions stirred into words without writing a novella. I`ll be back tonight to attempt it.

Is anyone else reading except me?

Randall I don't know what L.O.Q is either. You're right, it's hard to describe this canto. I guess it's symbolic of how a child's innocense is gradually taken from them.

Poor Pat and Dadoo!

Heidi

PS. We should be on Canto 3 this week.

Heidi, I`m here with you Again, having a hard time putting the emotion into words; this 2nd house transit (less emotional for me) should make it easier .

Canto two is the introduction of physical reality and the pain and sorrow that was to follow Linda. I believe it was at this stage her soul made the 'immortal' choice that she taught us about. Perhaps not consciously, but thru soul memory and k-nowing the pain leads to healing. Isn`t that one of the reasons sadness rhymes with gladness?
She is such a fantastic author, she brought back memories of my first loss`s and the unfair world seen thru my eyes at that age. I could see, feel and hear all that she was enduring!

God/dess bless you Linda!!

We were going to do a Canto a week, but it's probably better to just go with the flow.

I actually experienced anger towards Linda when I first read this chapter. Gut-wrenching, heart-pulling drama like this only 1/10th of the way through the book just wasn't allowed. I wasn't prepared for it. What the devil was she going to do for a climax, after all!!!

Alas ... the whole thing became worth it when I came to the mysterious gift for the ants!!!

Just a quick thought of Canto Two, is there any language where good and bad rhyme.

Sadly I only know english. Does any one else know.

My bet is no language on earth has this feature.

Peace, Matty on to Canto 3

Well, I got through Canto Two last week, and it's taken me a while to try and comment on it.

So emotional...yes, I cried too several times. Linda's sharing sure has a way of stirring up old feelings!

(And Randall, I do the same thing re noticing typos, and I don't look for them either In my case, it must be the Gem Sun and Mercury. Interesting you commented on the Virgo in you, as both signs are ruled by Mercury, the messenger. )

Anyway, this Mercury-ruled Twin is at a loss to say anything more about Canto Two except that I am in awe of Linda's gift.

I finished reading Canto Two last night.

*sighs*

Dadoo, rhymes with Boo and Love You

As I was reading through, I said outloud in various parts: "Such an Aries thing to do!"

Especially the part when Dadoo dies
and at the funeral
Linda doesn't cry

She said she spent the whole night before crying while putting together a Valentine card for dear Dadoo, but threw it away because she didn't think it was good enough. She didn't say she was alone, but I am guessing she was.

That's a very Aries thing to do, to cry alone and throw out things we don't think are good enough. It's rare to see an Aries ever cry in front of someone.

She heard him say he has gone onto the Land of Love.

A.

although this largely concerns wid regression i wanna post this here.....
she mentions about jerry jones here....one guy she talks about many times over n over in gooberz....
it was definately her 1st love....
here r my thoughts...
while talking about him so many times she uses these phrases"silvery wise eyes"
"he wanted to heal"
"rainbow behind his ears"
all of these she also experienced during roberts time....
why i said this concerns wid regression is coz....
as learned in this theory...before we come to live on this earth we are assigned something callesd a soul group....it means that we will meet a particular type or that same soul again n again in this incarnation...obviously there is a lesson n reason behind this...
according to me linda's soul group was this type...
i mean see the similarities atleast in her love life...
jerry jones
charles hollingswell
william
robert
hell so many i can even rmbr...
there could be another reason
as experienced by many of us our 1st love affects us throughout r life...like our choices have been made...somehow we look for the same traits in other ppl...or maybe its predestined...it dosent mean that u havent got over that person..its what is meant for u
makes sense???
