I would be really interested in hearing about how some people came to terms with / absorbed some of Lindas ideas. Im relatively new to this site and whilst I have read Sun Signs some years ago, I am not familiar with some of Linda's later works. I will be completely honest at this point, the astrology I can accept but there seems to be some very very very kooky ideas out there that are completely removed from reality, sense and reason.

Do not get me wrong, I am an open minded person and prepared to listen and try to take on board some interesting and new ideas - very much so. However, I believe that the essence of being human is use the inquiring, imaginative and intelligent mind that God/spirit/cosmos/universal force, has given us by questioning things that are presented to us. It seems to me at least that there is little debate and real questioning on some of these posts and instead a blind acceptance of some quite bizarre ideas.

I would very interested to hear what aspects of Lindas works are still difficult for any of you to assimilate. If any of you have rejected outright certain theories and your reasoning behind that rejection. Equally, please voice feelings about any aspects that have particularly 'spoken' to you and that you believe wholely with your mind, heart and soul and again the reasons behind that.

Thank you - with genuine interest.

It's not that all of us accept everything Linda said--just that most of us are very accepting of others' beliefs. On the flip side, a lot of us do accept much of what she wrote about, because she was so clear in her explaining. One would have to actually read Star Signs and Gooberz (or in the very least Star Signs) to see beyond the veil of "kookiness" one might presume with the tidbits of incomplete information found on this site.

Thanks Randall

I understand what you mean - I believe it is very important to be respectful of others beliefs. I have not read either Star Signs or Gooberz so i understand that its difficult to have a proper debate as I am not familiar with the concepts in their entirity. I am willing to read up and will try to get hold of a copy of both books so I am better informed.

Nonetheless, this doesnt detract from my original posting, that I was curious to know if anyone did/does struggle with these some of the ideas presented in the books. Does anyone feel that they struggled previously and have now assimilated the ideas or maybe some people have found the thats some theories make real sense whilst others are more difficult to digest and accept. What was it about those ideas that you struggled with?

I hope you agree that this is an interesting subject for discussion. It is certainly useful because if gives me the opportunity to educate myself a bit further on some of these ideas. I like to say I am open mindedly sceptical. Its good to question it enables deeper understanding and challenges the established order of things which often needs to be shaken up.

Im genuinely interested in any responses. Please feel free to provide some answers to my inquiring mind.

Thanks

Gooberz is a major undertaking, so you might just want to start with Star Signs. You can pick up the paperback for a few bucks brand new.

Yeah, and her books are at my local library.

I first read her Sun Signs book about 23 years ago, OK? So I've recently gone back into it to make that time capsule comparison. But it's really not that simple. With experience you automatically begin to filter out ideas that may be outdated, yet soak up the types of truths which never change.

So like any writing, you have to put it in the context of when it was written, and hopefully your search will have more to do with finding what we still have in common today, or for what you will begin to recognize as universal truths. No matter how someone phrases something, you will find a universal truth hidden in there somewhere.

I don't consider this forum to be a debate on her writing's per say, although we are free to do so, and it is done. I feel it is more a meeting of the minds done in the spirit of having recognized the essence that is uniquely Linda Goodman. Like I said, I first read her book 23 years ago. So you're talking about at least three generations of readers.

You cannot discount the subjective aspect of this gathering. It would be like telling everyone what painting to hang in their living room or what radio station to listen to. Some interpreters of the stars will "speak to you" while others won't.

Usually what attracts people to the metaphysics is not a reliance on hard facts as much as it is the awesome realization that everything is interrelated and relative. Good luck on your journey in recognizing those connections.
