Last night after I turned the TV off and started down the hallway towards the bedrooms, I thought my mother was up watching TV in her room, because I heard the soft undertones of voices and humming...........looked in her room, the light was out and she was asleep. (her TV wasn't on). I questioned myself and still heard the soft undertone of voices and sound. Curious, but then brushed it off.

Anyone else experience this?

Yes...

When I was very young, I used to hear crickets. I still do sometimes. But try to tune into what the voices are saying and check back with us. Could be messages from the other side...

I've had this happen to me twice. Both times immediately after someone very close to me had died. The voices were quite loud but muffled, as though they were in the next room. I tried so hard to make out the words but could not. The more I strained to listen the less I could hear. Ihe first time I heard music too. I didn't feel as if it was from "the other side" though. Of course, I certainly wouldn't rule this theory out in another case. But for me, I felt so strongly that I was listening in on events from the past. "Slipping off the time track" as Linda Goodman once said. Both of the people who had passed were older family members. I really felt as if I were being pulled out of my own time and place and into their's. I was alone both times and, to be honest, it scared me. I remember being quite giddy with it too. I suppose that's how you would feel having seen a ghost. Scared but also excited. I very much wanted to join them but was afraid I'd end up institutionalized. I do believe that some form of time travel is possible - sans a machine. I wonder if I tapped into the akashic records a bit. Not that I'm capable of that on my own, mind you, but emotions were high and under those conditions sometimes the third eye will crack open just a tad. Dunno. But it was mighty strange and very real.

Is this the first time you've heard them, Nephthys?

Dear Tink & Everyone,

In Mary Summer Rain's books she talks about Psychic Imprints, which are similar to what you mention, that it was an event from the past and not spirits/ghosts presently talking there.

Yes I've heard voices before, I think most of my life

Oh! Here's another story I just thought of. My bedroom wall where my bed is, on the other side of the front porch. Once, I heard voices speaking on the front porch one night after I went to bed. I got up and listened and heard them talking. Sounded like young people. I creeped to peek through my window but didn't see anyone and the sensor light wasn't on. I was even too scared to look through the kitchen window to see. I woke up my mother and told her some people are talking on the front porch. So together we investigated and no one was there. I swear these voices were real. So the next day I asked the neighbors if they had been outside talking last night, and they said no.

Another time I woke up to 2 voices under my bed. I visioned little furry creatures, kind of like hamsters, not sure. I heard them say, "Shhhh! She heard us!!!" I layed there stunned and too scared to even move. These were ghosts or spirits of some sort because no physical creatures were under my bed.

Woo hoo! More clairaudients! LOL
I am so glad you've shared your experiences, Nephthys and Tink. I, too, have always heard voices and murmurs ... sometimes as simple as my name being called out ... sometimes as complex as entire conversations that are loud albeit muffled ... and sometimes I can just barely make out a few words.
I think you are correct, Ra and astro junkie ... the veil is definitely thinning
I have faith that we can learn to make the best of our newfound abilities, whatever form they may take, and help in bringing good things to pass.
It's great knowing we have folks to share with, too.

I also had a similar experience - but this time there were two voices, a male and female, conversing quietly in my ears as I lay down before falling asleep. I couldn't make out what they were saying, and kept asking what they wanted and to speak clearly. Of course< that changed nothing. This type of thing has been going on since I was about 14 (7 years). Now I've paid close attention to these experiences, and have concluded that I am not in between early sleep cycles every time it happens. So I wonder if maybe there's some kind of mental wavelength out there, y'know, like radio signals, and perhaps I'm picking up on a random "channel". I still don't know- they could be anything from thoughts of the living put out into the "wavelentgh" somehow to thoughts of the same nature sent out by the dead...who knows? Perhaps it's coming from deep in my very own subconcious. Anyone want to elaborate on this thought?

Welcome to LindaLand Lioness

You could be right. I think there are many ways in which this could manifest. Any of the points you make could be valid, so I guess I am of no help! It is invariably up to the individual to determine where the experience is coming from, and what the experience means.

(hey, my in-laws live near Park Rapids ... brrrrr)

When I go to bed at night, sometimes I can hear spirits talking to me in my head. Like, I don't hear their physcial voices out loud, but I hear them in my head. I just want to ignore them because I am trying to go to sleep.
It's kind of similar like Leo Lion mentioned. Maybe since we are more silent at this time of the day, we can tap into the frequencies like he/she said?

I decided I'm not going to tell people about stuff like this anymore. (in real life, not on Internet I mean). They just think I'm weird. This place is probably the only place I can tell people stuff like this anymore.

How about this for weird, and not something I would generally share in public either ... (first of all, I hear music sometimes) tonight, a very peculiar flute, almost eerie, and momentarily disconcerting.

I have no idea where these sounds are coming from.

I have never experienced stuff like these but there have been many times when I have heard my name being called out very loudly. But whenever I've looked around, I've never found anyone. I had told a friend of mine about this. She suggested me to respond to the call. I've tried doing that but never got anything in return. And this calling hasn't stopped ever. The voice that I hear doesn't sound familiar either. But It has always been my name only. Loud and clear and not a word more than that.

Any insight on this?

I can relate to that feeling Nephthys ... sometimes it does sound like I'm just hearing it in my head ... sounds strange, but you know it isn't your own thoughts, you know?
I've heard music on occassion as well, Ra, but I was wondering why you don't care for it? Not to pry or anything, of course, just curious. The music I do hear is usually the most comforting of the things I hear, if that makes sense.
As far as the voices under the bed go ... well, as a little girl I was always very uncomfortable with the idea of "under the bed." I didn't even like my legs to hang over the bed! I always thought someone would be under there and grab at them. LOL One day, in my half-asleep state, I saw what I could only describe as gnomes. I know it sounds crazy but there they were ... tiny little men with colorful hats and beards, emerging from the closet. Heh. I was little so I just smiled at them and watched them. Eventually they ran off under my mom's bed! When I told her about it the next day, she just laughed and said, "Well, so now you've seen them, too? I saw them when I was about your age, but not since. Don't you be afraid of them! They mean you no harm." Well, I tucked that memory away for years until a couple of years ago when I ran across Brian Froud's artwork. I began to investigate the faery phenomenon and discovered, to my surprise, that gnomes are reknowned for their leanings towards dark quiet places, especially closets and under the bed! They are considered Earth elementals and tend to make their presence known when you need help in contacting Earthy energies in your life or when you're having problems with Earthy issues, like finances, work, stability, etc.
I have also found that music tends to relate to water elementals, so perhaps hearing music is a sign that you are reaching out to the realm of the Waters or are having troubles with Watery issues, etc.
However, it appears that you will tend to only have these kinds of encounters when you are really looking (praying, meditating, asking) for help or advice.
I can only assume that the reason we tend to be more aware of them during the moments just before we fall asleep is because our concsiousness is shifted and we are in sort of meditative state at that point. Perhaps they also wish to help you out through your dreams and so are just kinda' hanging around until you fall asleep
These are only some of my musings on these issues, and though they may sound far-fetched to some, I hope they can help others
Oh yeah, I don't really share this stuff (outside of this site) with any but my closest friends who also happen to lean towards these mysteries. I don't think it's a bad idea to share your beliefs, mind you, and I do believe in following Linda's advice about proclaiming your newfound insight with others, etc. However, considering the reactions I've received from lots of people, I have become a tad more selective.

Dear Eleanore,

Yeah......selective is the word

The voices under my bed were little creatures like hamsters or something. So I knew it wasn't a scarey creature or man or anything Still ~ it was shocking.......

Once I dreamed of gnomes in the middle of the court I live in.......

I still don't like to hang my hands, legs or feet off the bed for the same reason!

Omigawd!
I um, have a story....
When I was really little, I spent the weekend at my Oma's house (Dutch~Grandma) My older brother was on a blow up bed in the other room, a ways down the hall.. It was really late at night, and I started to wake.. I was conscious, I looked around the room,at the window, etc.. I was awake. There was a chair near to the bed. There was a small sort of hairy creature that I couldn't place, sitting on the chair.. seemingly looking at me. He had beady black, shiny eyes, I couldn't discern the pupil. I took his image in, and squinted my eyes, almost closed, so he wouldn't know I had seen him. I was so scared, I didn't know what to do, so, being so small, I hid under the covers. After what seemed like an eternity, I peeked over them, and the chair was empty. I bolted up and quickly ran to where my brother was sleeping. I looked back, as I entered the safety of his doorframe, and I saw a small shadow run from my room to the one across from me. I woke him, saying I had seen something, and it scared me, could I sleep with him, etc... He was very unsupportive. So I just curled up there, anyway, wanting to be with someone....
In retrospect... when the show Alf (about that melmackian alien)came on the air, later in my childhood, He seemed eerily familiar. That thing I saw, on my Oma's chair, looked just like Alf, except that this creature was very small... probably one foot tall or so. But the same black shiny eyes.. I am sure this wasn't my imagination. I know it wasn't. But I can't define it.
The fact that you said 'furry hamster' reminded me of this, although he was definately bigger than a hamster. Any thoughts?
