Why is it that there is no one named Jesus living? I mean do you know a Jesus living at the moment?
The reason why I ask this is that I was thinking that no Christian(that I know of) has named their son Jesus.Yet when you look at the Islam religion, almost every second Muslim male is named Muhammad( I am not dissing the Islam religion,I am just pointing a fact out).
Maybe because Christians would be too embarrassed to named thier son Jesus because when the child grows up,he would be evrything except what Jesus was.The child would convey the wrong image of what Christianity should be like.Or is there a verse in the Bible that forbids Christians to name their son Jesus?IF so,Please point it out to me.
Just a thought...

Yeah good point, I've thought along similar lines before. However I did see a film where the character was called Jesus, and then briefly met a man called Jesus living in West London.. so they're out there!!

My very fisrt love, many many moons ago, was named Jesus (hay-sus). He came from a Mexican Christian (not Catholic) family.

Funny, even though I haven't thought of him in ages... I still get a little fluttery in the tummy when I think about how much I loved him

aw, librasparkle - that's so sweet!!!

i've met quite a few mexican men named Jesus - i think it's pretty common down there.

it is interesting, yang, that euro-descended christians don't use that name. maybe they think it's presumptuous.

Jesus is a very common Spanish name, and you have lots of Jessy/Jessie/Jesse's out there, Jesse being the origin of Jesus. But as for Mohammad, we have "Christian", "Christa", "Christina", "Christopher" etc. Christian is a very common name in Germany. My son is named Dominick "belonging to God"

That is a good point Nackie. We do have Jessie and the Christ variations. Do you suppose Jessica is a feminized version of Jesus?

I had never thought of Jessie in that respect.

I rented an apartment to an Indian couple(from India) and they were shocked at the idea that there were so many people called Jesus (Hay-Sus) in our town. Also Mexican Christian! I live right on the border of Mexico.
