Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year....
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep. ~Robert Frost

When the likes of Sylvia Browne make pronouncements, the police and desperate parents sometimes spend serious time and money investigating their claims.

In 2002, for instance, the parents of missing Holly Krewson turned their lives upside down in response to one of Sylvia's visions. Holly vanished in April 1995. Seven years later her mother, Gwen, went on Montel, where Sylvia told her Holly was alive and well and working as a stripper in a lap-dancing club on Hollywood and Vine. Gwen immediately flew to Los Angeles and frantically scoured the strip clubs, interviewing dancers and club owners and punters, and handing out flyers, and all the while Holly was lying dead and unidentified in San Diego.

Source (and very detailed report): http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,,2198928,00.html

In 2003, Shawn Hornbeck's parents went on Montel to ask Browne about their missing son. She said he had been abducted by a Hispanic man with dreadlocks and had been killed. His parents were devastated by that. Four years later, their son was found alive with his caucasian captor.
Transcript and story: http://www.stopsylviabrowne.com/articles/montel_shawnhornbeck.shtml

In 1999, on another Montel show, a missing girl's grandmother asked what had happened. Sylvia told her an Asian man had kidnapped the little girl and taken her to Japan, where she was sold into sex slavery. The grandmother was devastated. Four years later, the body of Opal Jo Jennings was discovered 13 miles from her Texas home. She had been dead at the time of the show's taping, and had never been taken to Japan nor sold into sex slavery.
Transcript and story: http://www.stopsylviabrowne.com/articles/montel_opal.shtml

In 2006, she appeared on the Coast to Coast radio show after the wires began reporting that a group of buried miners had been found alive. She said she knew they would be found alive. Then the wires began retracting the story because it was incorrect - the miners were all dead. And Browne contradicted herself with, "Yeah, but see I, I never... I didn't believe that they were alive." They haven't invited her back.
Transcript and story: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/aspie/trueorfalse/sylviabrowne.html

In 1992, Browne pled no contest to securities fraud and was indicted on grand larceny for some very shady business.

How would you be able to tell if she has psychic ability through her chart?

Aries Sun, don't you already have two threads currently going about that on the astrology forum?

yes, but I just saw some things on youtube about sylvia being a fake and it just makes me question what could possibly be in her chart to make her a psychic - or not

I think sylvia browne is pretty damn shady myself...I watch her on the montel show sometimes when it's on TV and I cant help but notice how unaffected she is by everyone that is asking questions, like she just pulled the answers out of her a$$. She seems a very egotistical woman, she has a presence on the show that kind of shouts : "What I say is right no matter what the facts are!". The prices for her readings are ridiculous!! $750 for a reading?!?! Has anyone in this forum ever had a reading from Sylvia Browne (anyone crazy enough to fork over $750)? Is it pretty accurate?

I think that charging that much is ridiculous! I have heard some people say that there is some psychic ability in her chart though.

IMO, I think Sylvia Browne is simply a mid-grade psychic. If you could put a number on that quality of a person's psychic prowess, Ms. Browne has got more numbers than an average person but she is not intellectually
"there" on the loftiest level. She can connect pretty well sometimes (from what I've seen) but I don't think she has a firm grasp on what or how she is seeing. I would give some metaphors to explain this point better by mentioning the difference between the astral plane and the Higher Worlds, but I might make it a lot more confusing because of my own lack of a deeper understanding in this regard. Simply put, I personally feel that Sylvia Browne can connect to these other levels at a higher pace than the average person, but she lacks a substantially important ability to control this connection. She is not yet adept.

I think she genuinely wants to help people but is imprisoned by the confines of her ego, her narcissism, and her greed.

If she would release these her true psychic potential would emerge.

Yes, very true, BlueRoamer, I agree. I have watched other shows where she has been accurate, but I do agree that what she charges is ridiculous.

Im sorry to say that I honestly dont think sylvia browne deeply wants to nor genuinely desires to help people. I think at some point, in the early start of her career as a psychic, she did but her ego as an all mighty pychic and the greed of all the money that she gets from publicity got to her. I think she wanted to help people then but not now. Anyone that doesnt think twice or even gives an effort to channel answers about heartfelt questions of bereaved mothers and fathers or siblings, and loved ones is just plain cruel!!!! I used to read her books in the bookstores before I found her out in montel and after an episode, I definitely do not believe in her "psychic" ability.

She's a good business woman. Does anyone here enjoy her books? I read one, and wasn't at all impressed.

This is true of all of us, to various degrees. I do think Sylvia has an inappropriate air of disinterest which may or may not be (but certainly comes off as) a sense of superiority. Her attitude is particularly out of place when she says something so obviously incorrect. You could say that she invites these attacks from the skeptics and cynics, to some extent.

Hippichick makes a good point;
she is only human.

Psychics make mistakes.

And, if she is faking it,
well, she is still just human.
Maybe a little "too" human;
if its possible for someone to be too human.

But I digress.

Is it true, if you charge for your gift, and not share it with mankind for free, once money changes hand, the gift is taken away from you, could this be what has happened to Sylvia?, I know you have to change something, but do you believe her greed and ego, has cost her her gift?.

true psychics are very very rare.
i had the honor of meeting 2 such individuals who incidentally dont offer services for money, becoz they r white collar dudes, and two other one an old gentlemen who was an astrologer and the other was a palmist / astrologer.

the palmist could actually cast ur horoscope by reading, not the palm but the nadi.nadi is the energy channels that run in our body.

he placed his finger on my left hand nadi channel, started breathing fast , and told my mom with a look of awe " Ur daughter is very very passionate !"

well i do have a prominent pluto
but what was equally amazing was he managed to get my chart right without knowing details just from " reading my channels "
the other elder guy, didnt even need to touch me, he asked me to still quietly near him , and 5 mins later had a personality profile ready to a T.he only predicted the next 6 months of my life, which were accurate

but this one eats the cake
the older psychic told a friend she would find her husband in her house, or in connection to house matters.she WAS an architect, so we thought maybe a client or so on.
a year later she met this guy online from U. K. ten months later he came to meet her in India , they fell in love and got hitched !!
i thought well ,that one fell short , this guy far from her home or even country couldnt be the one right ?
wrong, she mert him online in her home.
that one had me laughing for weeks:biggrin:

I was just reading this thread and found it interesting.

IMO-anyone who claims they have psychic abilities should know better than to make predictions about missing children if there is any type of chance of uncertainty. That is just wrong.

No offense to anyone who likes/believes her, but I think she is a fake.

I get feelings about people and this is how I feel about her.

Additionally; her mannerisms, her straight unsmiling face, it seems she just makes stuff up as she goes along, she is not natural or shows any compassion in giving people news, etc. Just my observations/opinions.

Also, she needs to drink some water and clear her throat.
