Hey people, how are we all? Has anyone seen "Into the Wild"? It's a story about a man who gave his 24000 dollars to charity and went on a trip. This kind of reminded me of FishKitten, and seems very spiritual. Anyhow, the soundtrack is by Eddie Vedder. We get this movie on November 29, but you guys have had it for a few weeks, so has anyone seen it yet, and if so (without spoilers) what did you think? What was the music like?Heaps of Love,

I haven't seen the movie....
I read the book a few years back... it's actually one of my favorites. I'm really interested in seeing how well the movie compares to the book.
If you're interested in Chris McCandless, I recommend the book "Into The Wild".
I bought the movie soundtrack... I really liked it. It seems to capture and follow the story well. Below I added links to a couple of the songs that are on the soundtrack.

Another adventure, Maklhouf?Yeah, I bought the soundtrack from the fanclub so I get the shirt too, but it means I have to wait two months! I will try to read the book after I see the movie. It seems if you read them first the movie is never as good, and I want to appreciate that first, then get all the details later. Good to see you again 1scorp! Haven't seen you in ages. Thanks sesame It's good to see you also.I just noticed something regarding the book link.... the book's description contained spoilers.  I deleted it. I agree in regards to movies verses books.

I saw the movie a few weeks ago. Fabulous. The music goes perfectly with each scene. I really hope a song is up for Oscar contention. Angela

Angela, does Eddie always sing the songs, or are they instrumental? Are you a fan of him?I feel pretty lucky actually, because the best cinemas here don't show it, but a friend at work told me there's a way to get free ticks to the premiere on Tuesday night, which is near my work, and in one of the oldest cinemas here, so that's pretty cool. Can't wait! They may go quickly, but I'll try to get there early. Cheers,

Well, I'm back from seeing it, and can I just say "WOW". It definitely needs a re-watching to fully understand the poetry and philosophies, and it's just so full of everything. I Love the cinematography, the intereseing characters and places, and the actors are just incredible. I found it powerful, inspiring, unbelievable that it's based on a true story (I have to keep reminding myself) and how the main actor just looked so similar to the real life person! Eddie's music was amazing too. He played with his voice into different characters as he's prone to do, and many instruments too. I love the music played by the actors too, it was a great aspect of the movie. SO well made. Unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy the second last song in the credits, and would probably cry if I did, but you can't have everything. Can't wait for the soundtrack to arrive and the book so I can enjoy the movie even more when the DVD comes out.BTW, you may have guessed that I'm a huge Pearl Jam fan, I went to both concerts this year in my city - the second was front row which was the second time I've had that priveldge. I own all DVDs and CDs, and am trying to collect the shirts Recently I left the latest one on a bus after two days of owning it! But again, you sometimes can't have everything. Anyway, all I wanted to say here is that the first three songs on Disk two of Lost Dogs completely summarised the movie, IMHO. I had to listen to them as I couldn't concentrate on my book on the bus. Fatal is about how answers are fatal and the movie is extremely similar. The more you search, the more you may lose yourself and never be able to come back (which incidentally is the last song on their last album ).
Other Side is about how life looks differently when you're dead.
Hard to Imagine could be about how life may change without ever being able to go back again (similar to one concept in Life Wasted on their latest). Then, having absorbed this, I turned to Disk One's first two songs: All Night "Be content, before you die"
Sad, "And his holiness is proof, it' sad" Anyhow, many many concepts along these lines throughout Pearl Jam songs. Just thought I'd share on my experinces with this movie. One warning though, some scenes may offend viewers. Very realistic imagery. Heaps of Love,

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier; I don't read through the forums but once a month if I'm lucky.I'm happy you saw the movie, and even happier that you enjoyed the music. It's up for several awards already, so I'll cross my fingers WITH YOU for Eddie to score an Oscar! Totally worth it...the music is excellent. ------------------

Yeah, I hear you ScotScorp! Everything Ed touches is gold, but this one was hand picked and planned for years. The only criticism I get for the soundtrack is that's it's too short - only half an hour, but as I always advise "just play it again" Seriously, I think I've listened a few too many times, but I just find it very relaxing and easy to listen to. I got the book for Christmas, so I will definitely read once I've finished book two of the Wheel of Time. I really think I'm over Fantasy, but I'll reserve that judgment until I've read more of Salvadory amd Pratchet. TWOT is getting on my nerves - anyone read it? I think I'll give it two more books to pick up before throwing it.Cheers,

Aselzion  Namaste. I will write to you later today.FishKitten is alive and well and very happy. I will pass on to her that some folks at LL were thinking of her. I have not seen this film, but the book is very powerful, and gives one much to ponder. However, it does not remind me of FishKitten. And in regards to the film, I can only surmise that much of it is conjecture, the work of the imagination of Sean Penn, for no one knows what truly went on in the mind of Chris McCandless. In fact, much speculation was used on the part of Jon Krakauer to write the book, for the same reasons. Chris didn't leave much except for a few clues and scarce, cryptic diary notes. A very happy New Year to you all...

Dean:Well, Eddie won the Golden Globe for one song. He's up for a Grammy as well. Shame that the Oscars passed him over.  Music really followed the script and scenes of the movie. *sigh* Angela

Good to hear about FishKitten. The reason the film reminded me of her, is that she told me once how she gave away her entire possessions every now and then. Not sure who to, or if she sold them, but Chris seemed to have a similar detachment to Earthly possessions. FK travels the world as an Archaeologist, Chris traveled for the pure freedom (supposedly). I have to say that I actually preferred the movie in this case. It flowed more in one direction and had more dialog and characters, etc. I don't care too much if it was more fictional than fact because I am not a critic. I didn't feel as much as I expected, and really wanted to cry at the end, but it didn't happen. Now that I am a lot more familiar with the music, I think I could. One time I was out drinking, and I finished the book on the way home and listened to the entire album again, and it really does make you relate to that kind of character. It's an amazing story and has been repeated to some extent by other people, but this story is so naive and single-minded, and yet has a lot of contradictions too that makes me relate more. Life isn't as simple as saying "I'm gonna go live in Alaska for two years". This boy really felt a lot about a lot of things, or so it seems to me. Anyhow,
