To understand karmic debts is the first step towards personal freedom and assured evolution/ascension to Higher Realms [whether from Earth itself or in the next Incarnation]. And there is no better tool than Astrology for this.

Some Karma exists in our genes, inherited from our ancestors [Ancient Vedic Seers contend we are affected by 7 generations of Karmic Debts of our Ancestors].

Then, we have our own Life Streams. We do repay most of the debts prior to the next incarnation but the Mind Pattern of Guilt from negative actions of past life streams can [and unfortunately in majority of cases, does] create a new cycle of suffering. Plus our thoughts and actions, plus a reaction to others karmic actions, all of these keep us bound to waves of karmic debts that take shape during planetary transits [especially of Saturn or of transits to our Natal Saturn].

Our Causal Body [This is a Vedic Term, it may translate to OverSoul or Highest Self ] is the repository of unpaid karmic debts too, debts too powerful to be paid across one incarnation. It is said only when the Causal Body is clear of karmic debts, only then can Kundalini Energy safely rise from our Root Chakra to the Crown. Kundalini controlled by our Conscious Mind in our Crown is the passport to Immortality.

This is when you have to be at your strongest, and Know your Inner Immortal Spiritual Self. The Self that deserves to be free from karmic debts, free to be happy and positive and free to grow to Higher Levels. Free from all Astral and psychic parasites.

How you do this depends on your inner inspiration.
My humble suggestion is to combine the techniques of Jesus and Buddha. You cannot go wrong when attempting to emulate such Selfless Souls. Jesus focused on Forgiveness. Buddha on Balance and Non-Reactiveness to emotional provocation. Adding to this is of course continued positive service towards any cause you love. Further, positive visualizations for as many people you know will burn off tons of karma. Our thoughts are also things in some other dimension of existence. You can look at simple H'opono pono philosophy to forgive from a Higher Plane, forgive on behalf of all ancestors and all past lifelines etc.

Life will become instantly lighter and new solutions will come, the more you work on the forgiveness component. Last but not the least: Unconditional Forgiveness of your own Self in each and every incarnation. This paves the way for Self Appreciation and acceptance of a better and better life, free from karmic debts.

Sacrificial Birth/Vindictive Birth:
If things are very difficult for loved ones, then one can be reborn as their child or grandchild and borrow a huge chunk of their karmic debts. So many times we can see the birth of a child suddenly changing the luck of struggling parents. The reverse is also possible. If a couple has enjoyed a lot of positivity and there is a bloke who they hurt in many past lifelines, he can be born to them and create many mishaps in their life. Finally, he will inherit their wealth upon their death and prosper. This unfortunately can lead to negative cycles unless all of them forgive each other.
The classical novel "Wuthering Heights" is all about such karmic debts destroying a family, only the villain was an adopted kid.

Interference Karma: If we help others without their or their Higher Self permission, and take away their lesson, we get a percentage of the karmic retribution which their lesson was to have brought them.
This karma becomes tremendous if we rush to save someone who turns out to be a robber or murderer in later life. The escape for this is to ask God to release all errors done unknowingly and to explicitly seek forgiveness of indirect karmas of helped people.

The past life oaths piece makes me think of venus in the 12th or venus retrograde. I know two people, one w/ venus in the 12th and one with venus retrograde and both have strong saturn influence in their chart and they crave love but hold back from it, is like if part of them feels like they don't deserve it or is not for them, probably both. One of them the venus in the 12th tells me that several people have told him he was shaman in several past life, it makes sense that past life oath promise is holding him back from romantic love bc it feels wrong to him in some cellular level!

The other guy is in his late 30s still a virgin, only has had one girlfriend, very much wants to find a girl and get married but he is what is keeping it from happening ultimately. He is spiritual and religious as well. In fact I suspect his 12th house is in Sagittarius bc it does describe him well, he is private about his beliefs, very, doesn't talk about religion really but goes to church I think several times a week. I think at some point he was even considering been a priest and the other guy has considered becoming a monk.

...and my bestfriend from childhood would role play as a kid that he was a priest and use to want to be one when he was a child. My best friend from childhood also has venus in the 12th. He was also my first kiss which happened when him and I were role playing that we were married with kids and his juno conjuncts my southnode. Perhaps when we are kids we roleplay past lifes without realizing it sometimes. I was once told that I look like a psychologist, nun or a teacher by a complete stranger that knew nothing of me and just saw briefly and never saw again.

I also have past life with the one that says he was shaman....his saturn conjuncts by one orb my soutnode, his uranus by 6 orbs and his venus by 9 orbs but his venus conjuncts my part of lovers by 3 orbs and my sun/moon midpoint by 3 orbs and my neptune by 2 orbs.

So I am thinking he was my shaman in a past life Mainly but we were also lovers for a while and in this life I have to help him find his way and get out of the depression he is in which is the result of him not forgiving himself about a past life I bet but he doesnt realize this but you have helped me see that this is the root of his depression...He feels guilty about feeling anger so that is a hint to me (excessive guilt), he feels guilty tooo easily and bits himself up.

The venus retrograde guy is my brother but I dont see anything aspecting my SN and my 12th with him or vica versa.

this IS the KEY for many a conditiion, forgiveness of others AND self ....

I also agree with IQ about soul contracts. We all incarnate to learn certain Lessons with certain people.... free will can take you the high road or the low road, but eventually you Learn the Lesson. If you don't learn then it will be repeated.

how often do you hear of women being abused and go from one abuser to the next. unfortunately they haven't learn.....

I don't see karma as 'that complex' life is simple, live simply. Your IM prescence or Hihger Self will guide you. doorkeepers and guide will also help with your Lessons.

Another thing, Soul Mates, twin flames can be good karma OR bad karma. It's all a learning lesson, when you have learnt you can both *move one* you don't have to prolong, espec if is misery or ill treatment.

I do believe we are all here, at this exciting time, to learn about Ascension. Some will leave some will stay in 3D, some will Ascend. By that I mean become full of light,activate our 'light bodies' like Jesus
