Don't laugh. I have noticed something about me and rabbits. With the rare exception of a friend's floppy-earred rabbit, there have been ... disagreements between me and rabbits since I've become open.

The most recent example of this, I'll start out with, involved a dream with a rabbit. Apparently in the dream, I see the image of a rabbit. Briefly, before I wake up, it's like I can hear the voice of my best friend ragging on me about hitting a rabbit with my car.

Well, lo and behold, he and I (and the hosts of the one party we went to) got into a bit of a disagreement (Yes, involved women, as in his indiscretion with one I had had an interest in (All he had to do was tell me intentions before at that point, and while I wouldn't have been entirely happy, things would be way better. He did not, and then at this party this past weekend, at one point practically bragged about it (yes there was alcohol involved, still not OK). Also he's not the only close friend to have done this, with somewhat different circumstances...), plus his point of view on my one ex (said doesn't count as one, after bragging about the other one, and yes another close friend was involved with the ex when that happened. A week after breakup but still... long story and this is going off-topic). Basically, hit every button guaranteed to set me off). Later that night, I get home, he was following as he lives up the road from me (he was ok to drive by the time we left, I was ok for a good while even before then, to allay any fears). I get a text saying "lol you totally hit that rabbit." My reply: "What rabbit?"

Apparently a rabbit offed itself with the back wheels of my car as I drove past. It was not in my line of vision. Which sparked a debate with other previous incidents with rabbits.

One example years ago, which he was there for, involved a malevolent spirit that had been imprisoned in a tree in my back yard. (In my mind's eye, the closest thing it resembled was the Balrog from the first Lord of the Rings movie. At first I thought it was a particular adversarial entity I had defended myself from before, but later meditation revealed itself as apparently an Avatar of the same). After imprisoning it in a piece of hematite, I was walking away, when I got the harshest feeling of "spiritual pressure" on my third eye I had ever felt in my life up to that point. My friend was further away from the voice, but it was coming at me. Yelling "gimme! gimme! gimme! gimme!" in like an impish or lepricaunish-like voice. I backed the &$^# away REAL FAST. (I still had the hematite on me). It stops. I grab a flashlight from my car, and return. A dying baby rabbit was on the ground, with some sort of worm parasite on the grass, very very thin. (Friend eradicated it with a cigarette lighter). The rabbit had apparently been possessed after the transference of a prison. There was also heavy fog that night. (For the record, the hematite piece in question is somewhere on the bottom of an undisclosed bay, if not pulled out by the tide to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean by now. I was not screwing around with this thing.) The entire experience freaked him out, and the recent night of our disagreement this weekend, me mentioning it freaked him out a bit again.

There was another Rabbit incident I think some time after that one, or before (I forget the exact year). I was living 3 hours away in another town for 6 months. My roommates and I went out for some hot dogs at a vendors cart. While we were eating, a security guard came near us. Got to talking a little, brief conversation. He asked "who we were students of." Not "What were we in school for" (college town, and the same town I graduated from college from a few years prior). We hightailed it out of there soon after, and noticed everyone who drove by were just staring at us. We felt there was a lot of nasty things starting to gather, and it was starting to get foggy. After holing up in the tennis courts for about an hour, we went a back way. The rabbit part is next:

One of my roommates, she notices a rabbit, but it's different from all the other rabbits we had seen before around there. It had much shorter ears, and proportions may have been somewhat different. Her at-the-time-boyfriend, another roommate and me told her to get back to us. The vibe we got once we walked past away from that rabbit was that it wasn't really much of a rabbit, but something much more sinister. Basically, an ambush trap of sorts. (Similar to the baby rabbit in my backyard). We made it back to the apartment about an hour or two later after more cars with people just staring at us blankly, getting past the scrapyard/railroad tracks (which had their own haunted history), and the nearby cemetery (which I had more than my share of unpleasant memories in). We did not leave the apartment again until well after daybreak and put up numerous wards. (I should note my roommates were quite Pagan/Wiccan at this point, I say "at this point" because two of them (both the guys) later on returned to the Christian faith, one Pentecostal and one denomination I don't remember, possibly Catholic).

Plus, my first car, before all of these incidents, I was driving by, catch a rabbit in my peripheral vision, and before I can react - thwump. Offed itself.

I've read that rabbits are associated with Artemis, Freija, Hecate (I was more familiar with the hounds for Hecate though), and I think Aphrodite. Also, according to http://www.linsdomain.com/totems/pages/rabbit.htm - "If a Rabbit totem has appeared in your life, it may indicate a need for more planning
or to check those plans already set in motion.
Do not box yourself in a corner."

Also, seems to have to do with procreation. The unfortunate encounters with Rabbits seem to echo how romantic/sexual aspects of my life go.

Never really felt Rabbit to be a totem or spirit animal of mine (I seem to have identified Bear, Scorpion, Phoenix, Griffon, and Dragon as those I have affinity with). Maybe it is. So why would one have a lot more unfortunate, um, encounters with me than any other, dream or otherwise?

On a final note, it was agreed before the texting with the friend ended that an extremely low profile may be in my best interest, given recent events AND the latest "Rabbit Omen". But seriously, WTH.
