I found the kitten under my dining room window soffit. At first I thought it was sick, but then I realized it was dead. My husband buried it at the top of the hill in my backyard and said it had an injury across its neck. How terribly sad. We all cried yesterday, me the dogs and my husband.Im going to try to draw the other one out. ( They do not show themselves)I found an organization that will take it and put it up for adoption for a small 10.00 fee. I wish i had done this sooner. I am dissapointed in myself.

The organization is called Lend-a-Paw. They are in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana, I think. I found them at a summer fair in northern michigan recently. They were doing adoptions for the whole weekend and adopted out almost all the dogs they had. I had a chance to talk to them about my kitty situation since they had kitty's too.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I may have a bit better news now on the other kitty. I didn't know if there were two all along because my limited sightings after the first time were only of 1 kitty. I put food out wed evening and couldn't tell if any was taken during the night. Last night I decided to count out 15 nuggets of food. Well this am all was gone. I think the other kitty is still with us and Im very happy about it. My husb and I pretty much know that this other cat will become our pet. After what happened to the brother ( don't know if it was male or female)i couldn't bear to try to send it off somewhere. We're all bonded now at my house.

I have put food out now for several days. I moved it to under the window where I think ("Manny") is sleeping. The food has been eaten every time. My sister told me to put it out during the day because cats like to eat a small amount several times a day. And... the nocturnal animals won't have as much opportunity to eat it first. Today i left food out and then came to work. My instinct says its the cat and that it wants to be ok with us.

Where I live, we have a store called "Big 4 Rents" where you can rent a cage/trap to trap animals. It is perfectly humane and safe. You simply place food on the "plate" inside the trap. The animal enters and the door closes behind.

These traps are not meant for hunting; they are meant for catching animals who are in abandoned houses, attics, areas, or places they should not be in.

I would put the trap out only in the daytime where I could monitor/check on it often, so whoever gets trapped doesn't have too much stress. The animals get very scared and fearful of being trapped, and it is an avenue to take if you really need/want to catch one.

Good Luck

Thank you for this info on trap. I have been wondering about that very thing because this kitty does not want to be seen and Im worried about the winter months. Last winter in Michigan it got so cold for so long, I don't think any cat would make it thru.

Also, until you get the kitty, try moving the bowl of food a little bit closer to your home each time you put out food. Perhaps a t-shirt or blanket with your smells on it too. It is likely scared.
