Our 6 year old son yesterday afternoon. It was the most horrbile, frithening image I've ever seen. We've had her since she was a kitten, for almost a year now. She was playing with one of her toys, with the kids sitting next to her on the couch. Chad and I were in the bedroom getting ready for class. Suddenly, we heard the chidlren's terrified screams and the hissing. We ran and saw the cat clawing and junping all over and Emmanuel, and shoved it away from him wiht the ironing board.

Emmanuel was bloody with scratches near his eye, his back, and his head. We locked the cat in the room, and took Emmanuel to the Children's Hospital ER. Thank God he didn't require stitches, and that the cat barely missed his eye ):

I am very sad about having ot take the cat to the shelter. The kids were very attached to her, and dispite this horrible incident I do miss it. I feel bad because I'd considered getting her declawed and changed my mind about it. I figured she should be able to defend herself in case she ever escaped outdoors. Feel very bad and wished there was something I could've done to of prevented this awful incident :sad:

I am so sorry to hear about that. Sometimes they (cats) just get freaked out and react.

It is just one of those things. I hate it too that she had to go the the shelter, hopefully it's a no-kill one and they can find a good home for her. And I'm glad your child is ok too! It is a scary thing!

Although, I don't have small children anymore. We have one that does not like small children, so I always have to make sure they keep away from him.

I'm sorry Planet Soul - cat's are weird. Sometimes my cats get a bug up their rear and get all "ninja" on me. It's in their nature and that is also how they play with each other.

Sometimes animals see "little" humans as being like them. Since the kids are so young they can't really explain what happened or if the cat was startled, it's tail was pulled or they were pinched.

The stray cat I feed went a little mental one night. I thought he was psycho until I realized he had been bitten by a spider and was reacting to it.

I am sorry you had to endure this...
